Don't try this at home

Gold Bond is a powder, likely not available in the UK - I think it is more than just talc, but I've not used it. Ad's for it mention anti-itch and soothing. If you running shorts are getting old, the elastic in the liner may be getting loose allowing for skin on skin rubbing. You could always cut the liner out and then wear a synthetic brief instead.

Do you have a meter to track your speed, or do you just do it the smart way and figure it with time completed and distance traveled?

Hard to say if I am honest. I am gaining a bit of weight and think most of it is lean mass, but such small volumes etc. that it's hard to be sure. This Sunday saw me at 13st 8.4 at 18.1% body fat so a gain of 0.3 pounds and constant body fat, how inconclusive can I get, that could be me sweating less overnight than the week before.
My wife reckons my arms are making a comeback and my strength based endurance is improving so I think this is a winner for the first in the year. Hypertrophy needs recovery and strength endurance improves the chances of this, so even if this block doesn't make me look perfect, it will set my body up to be able to train in ways that will encourage growth.
I have been eating some junk this year which we are stopping. There have been too many occasions when we have been sorting things out late and not been finished until just before needing to get our son to bed. This has now stopped and our diet is improving already, meaning I should be able to look at weight increases as more likely to be lean mass than blubber.
I need to get a photo taken to do a comparison on how I was earlier in the year, mean to do it every weekend and never do. That might help assess the results.

Strange to think there is less than 6 pounds to gain to be at my target weight, and still be thinking this years target is unrealistic. Getting that kind of gain in 8 months and losing body fat, not likely, but nice if I do it.

I need to take some measurements myself, but I'm stuck at deciding whether I want to try to lose some weight or try to put some size on my chest and arms. I have gotten a little soggy around the midsection from my screwed up training period, but taking away my diet to lose weight will hurt me putting on size. I seem to get stuck at this crossroads a lot.

I am aiming for slow gains and trimming at the same time. Not sure how it's going if I am honest, but I have time to spare on it.
I tend to care less about aesthetics than most, so when I have achieved the current aim I will be spending the next x years making the new size practically useful. That will be fun.

From a health point of view, if you have a "soggy gut" you should address it. Good news is that the body is designed to use that particular fat store early on in the process.
