Don't try this at home

Really don't like treadmills. They are improving all the time but I have spent so many years on the road they just feel wrong.
The last time I used one was years ago when the gym my wife and I belonged to were doing a sponsored thing on behalf of Nike, for every person they got to cover 10k they got a set amount of cash. We had just finished a leg session when asked to do it, so of course I did. My wife found great joy in pointing out how stupid I was for doing this when walking was a challenge, true love of course.

I am happy with the pace. it didn't hit unrealistic target but considering I gained weight too what I managed would be considered unrealistic by most. Running is something I have always been able to do relatively easily but most people don't look at me and think 'distance runner' anymore, I think untidy tramp is more normal.

I think running on a treadmill vs running on trail (since I rarely run on road I can't speak to that) is a bit like comparing gym climbing to rock climbing - 2 totally different sports. They use similar equipment, but the feel, the effect on the body, the challenge - it's all different. I definitely feel I am taking the easy way out right now and it is why despite being able to make a good argument to myself that I should be putting in more training miles on the TM while in the gym I am far more likely to opt for the stairmaster - it is just a harder effort and feels more like I want a workout to feel. Less than 3 weeks now until the 24 hour event and then I can go back to winter training... never thought I would miss the weight training and bodyweight training so much!

Normally not bothered by the in thread ads, but not happy having that Mike Chen or Chan or whatever his name is in my post. That guy comes out with so much manure he should go into agriculture.

Anyway, back to training without trying to take the short cuts or easy out.

Well, I get the "amazing new core focused workout machine" - ugh, are you kidding me???

"Short cuts or easy out" - you? NEVER!

I tend to find short cuts or easy options are the realm of people wanting to 'look' fit. And because even these require effort and don't give miracle results they aren't kept to. Great for repeat business, useless for people wanting to be fit.

24 hour?
There are 12 days to Christmas, that's 288 hours of eating too much junk.
There are mince pies, Christmas pudding, stollen, creams, brandy butter, pretzels with peanut butter inside, various chocolates, savouries, nuts, obviously the turkey dinner(s) and there is bound to be stuff I have forgotten about.

I will deserve to be about 5kg heavier at the end and be about 1 or 2 as normal.

Whew, that sound serious! I was given firm instructions NOT to bring home a bunch of goodies today, guess there won't be much bulking at our house... although I can always bake! Enjoy it utterly!

Oh, I see how it is....12 days of Christmas isn't just a song for you. I see I see.

My front squats have some catching up to do, by the look of things. 3x10 at 90kg....I think I might have done a triple at 90 once?

At 80 I was getting good depth so current mission is to get that on 90. Some were ok so will keep weight and work on consistency and getting all good rather than some ok. I could have gone for 85 of course but that would be sensible moderation.
This year will be in the endurance and building range. Wondering how my power will suffer for that.

Merry Christmas! I'm still hanging around :)
