Do you think this is enough?

I am new at all this exercise stuff! I know that should be embarrasing:eek: but I will only halfto admit this once. I usually walk the beach but now am looking for more. I am about 215  and am wanting to tone up my thighs, butt, and hip area. I was told that cardio is the way to go but want to make sure this is right for me. Can you help. This is my 2nd week with this. Here is my regimend! I warmup on the TM for 10min at 3.2 with a 6incline, then onto crunches about 150 front and 50 side, then 1 circuit training and then back for 150 more crunch machine exercises with 50 side crunches, then about 25 min on the eliptical and cooldown on the bike for 5 min. Is this regimend good for my weight to tone my body and burn this butt off? If not can you give me your opinion on what I can do? Thank you for reading and I look forward to your input!:D

What do you mean by circuit training? You also should be lifting weights unless that's what you mean by circuit training. I wouldn't do that many crunches a day because your abs are just like any other muscle group and need rest.

How is your diet?

Congratulations on taking the first step! That's great!

HI Ellie,
As teresa said, congrats on taking the first step to a better you. The ultimate key to getting toned lies in your diet. You also need to weight train, (don't worry about getting muscles like a guy). Add some cardio in the mix and you should get results. So basically without writing a book 1) eat 5-6 clean smaller meals a day, include a complex carb and protein at each meal. 2) Weight train your whole body, give yourself enough rest before training the same bodyparts (a LEAST 48 hrs, personally for me it's longer). 3) Cardio, up to 45 minutes if doing low to medium intensity, if using HIIT I think 20 minutes is plenty. I believe if you follow those 3 steps above consistently you can achieve results. One more thing Drink LOTS of water. Good luck :)

As for the circuit, I mean weight machines like leg lifts, arm presses, crunches and so on. Am I supposeto do the max. weight I can handle or a moderate amount? Thanks for you help!

First off, congrats to you =)

About the weights, it depends on how many sets and reps you are doing
The last 2-4 sets should be difficult to do with maintaing correct posture

I think a little aerobics in-between may be fun and keep you motivated and enjoy your workouts =)

I would be doing upper body on one day and lower body on another if possible. And yes, you should lift to failure. I never lift more than 12 reps at the heaviest weight I can lift.

Let somebody to guide you :)
