After today's hangover, I am going to be sticking to red wine only. And I am posting the calorie list on my fridge! Thanks.
What are the 2's for?
example:
Beaujolais (95 cal) 2 <--- ?

Oh, and thanks for your support today, it really helped me stay sane!

Yeah, I know all about the health benefits of wine. Believe me, I'm a promoter. ;) I's just messing with ya.

haha, yeah I know that you're hella far. I was just speaking in terms of me actually being in the same state. But I will take up your advice. She'll love me forever and I'll look like I know what I'm doing. Thanks CG.

"Hella"!! :D Hella, fuckin Five One Oh, Cousin, East Bay, Maihn, HELLA! :D
PM me if you need more help....

Hey I can't agree more. I think I've been drunk once in a year and a half (Good Canadian Beer Mmm), but I couldn't do without an occassional beer or other drink.

It is healthier to drink one to three drinks (depending on sex and size) once a day (like the French) than drink nothing all week and binge on the weekends (like Americans). Alcohol thins blood and removes plaque in the arteries, and busts up blood clots, too.

Thank you for posting all that stuff on alcohol and how it's good for you :) I work in heart disease research so see a lot of the research that recommends the med diet - red wine and olive oil all the way!!!!

You're welcome, we learned all about the Med diet in Wine Class. The only problem with promoting moderate alcohol consumption is the prevalence of alcoholism and binge-drinking. Doctors may know what's up, but they would feel liable if they recommended moderate drinking to a patient, and it turned out the patient had an addictive personality. It's a shame :(

I'm not sure--some kind of point scale on the website I stole the info for??!

And you're very welcome! :)

No worries! You merely inspired me to post the articles I've read, as at work here I get Wine Spectator Online (company pays for it). I think it's pretty expensive....let me check....$49.95 a year. Not horrible but most people wouldn't bother, I bet.

Hi Curvie Girlie-

I feel the need to defend myself and fellow physicians at this point. I do not withhold sound medical advice from a patient based on the idea that I might get sued or be liable. Someone could just as easily sue me for not telling them something...believe me, people will sue over anything!

In fact, many cardiologists and internists I know do recommend light to moderate alcohol consumption to apropriate patients. But, as you've suggested, we must also remind them that alcohol consumption cannot occur when they are going to operate machinery or drive, or if the patient is pregnant, or if it may interact with one of their medications. We are, unfortunately, not allowed the luxury of assuming someone has common sense.

All that being said, I very much love wine myself, and I am going to follow your recommendation for the merlet you mentioned! Thank you.

I can't really participate in all this wine talk (;)) but I just wanted to subscribe. This is my favorite blog for the most inspiration ever. You have achieved so much without going crazy!

And last but not least, the wine you drink counts as part of your water requirements for the day!

My parents were first gen immigrants, so I practically grew up drinking wine. My dad drank a half a bottle a day for 80 years, until he died at the tender age of 91. My mom drank a glass or two of wine every day, and she's 96.

All my doctor friends love wine. I think there's a connection :). My brother-in-law is such a dork. He saw Sideways and went from non-drinker to having his own wine cellar. He also can't resist holding a glass of wine to his nose and saying, "Hmm, just a hit of asparagus."

Drinking Alcohol May Halt Arthritis, Research Finds

I have arthritis in some of my fingers :( and it has really been bothering me lately. I love wine (as I have said many times here....) but I didn't know this...and here I have been taking Aleve Arthritis (which works by the way)..... :)

Another great piece of info from Curvie!!!:D Thanks!

Morning, thanks for stopping by Everyone

Thanks for the comments, glad some of you enjoy my diary--trying to keep is somewhat interesting :p

OK, boring time: What's on my Mind Now

This morning I was pleased to see I am back down to 138.5 lbs--the lowest I've been. However, I noticed that the past 9 days my weight has gone from 139.5-138.5. Fluctuated by only 1 lb. In the last 9 days. Is this a plateau? I looked at my "data" and it is customary for my weight to stabalize at this point in my cycle. In fact, if this is not a plateau, my weight should drop over the next few days, then rise 4-6 lbs for "Aunt Flow", then drop to lower than 138.5. This is what has happened for the past 3 months. I'm just going to assume it will ;)

On a positive note, I wanted to list the things I'm grateful for, right now:

1. Strawberries are in season, and they taste deliciously sweet and suculant, instead of slightly bitter and stiff.
2. I'm in the 130s and I look fine, I feel better, and I'm more fit than ever
3. I live in an excellent area that is beautiful, the air quality is superb, and there's a plethora of natural foods stores.
4. I am inclined to eat a very healthy diet: this morning in my basket at Aptos Natty Foods was: 2 hearts of Romaine, 1 loaf of sprouted wheat complete protein bread, 1 container Wholesoy soy yogurt, 2 organic Fuji apples, 1 basket organic strawberries, and a container of roasted red pepper hummus. I had cereal with soymilk, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries with yogurt on the side for b-fast: for lunch I'm toasting the bread and making a B.L.A.T. sandwich with fakin bakin.
5. I love a man who loves me.
6. My family is well.
7. My friends are doing fine, too.

OK, after that, here are the annoying things that bother me lately:

1. I'm so fit, that workouts are easier and I sweat less. It is extremely difficult to get my heart rate up high anymore--I pretty much have to do squat jumps for several minutes. How the hell am I going to get any ftter? I need to mix it up...
2. I don't have enough money for a new wardrobe, and as it is I think I need a second job--I'm going to try to work at a wine bar on the weekends.
3. My car needs a new bumper cover and front blinkers.
4. I can't decide if I should open a 401K with my work--they don't match it :(
5. My boyfriend's lifestyle is really wearing on me--his smoking, sedentarism, and laziness around the house really bother me, but he's so sweet and loving I can't really get irritated with him

OK, I'm done--see ya later, time to skulk....

What investments does your company 401K use?

And resistance training isn't about raising your heart rate. I mean, it certainly does, but the primary benefit stemming from resistance training is muscle maintenance or growth.

Look at me. I am fit. Yet follow a very basic routine.

Thanks for enlightening me--I don't really know what doctors say these days, because I only see the OB-GYN! LOL. :D

4. I can't decide if I should open a 401K with my work--they don't match it
having the money deposited directly into a 401 k plan from you paycheck is a painless way to save - you dont see that money so you don't miss it and you dont think at the end of the month - oh crap i need to put xxx into my 401k -it's done for you.

Most company 401ks are done thru another company so your choices for where the money goes can go anywhere from low/no risk to high risk but the higher the risk the higher the return.... (though that can work against you sometimes -one of my 401ks has taken a beating)

Now is the time to start saving - becuase it does add up.... whether the company matches or not -you should have choices about how thatmoney is invested.

WHoa where did you come from?! Just kidding! Thanks for coming by:eek: I need to find out about the 401K--I was lazy and haven't read the pamphlets yet.

I was talking about cardio--and yes you are fit.
