After my Run
Well, it was beautiful and wonderful to run in the Redwood Forest of Nisene Marks today. I ran for 1 hour and 12 minutes, although there were times when I was going slowly, and there were brief moments where I had to stop and mess with my iPod, for the most part I was running the whole time. My legs and hips are sore right now, and I had to eat two portions of my Erotic Rice I made.
Erotic rice = wild rice mix with tomatoes, veggies, some kind of hot peppers, and a protein of sorts.
Mine yesterday had bell peppers, broccoli, garlic, tomatoes, and fake chickin. I don't use oil, so it's really low-cal, and I consider wild/brown rice to be healthier than bread. I think. Either way I know wild rice is good for me, especially the upset tummy, as all the fiber from the rice and veggies cleaned me out, so to speak.
Anyway, after my long run I went to shower and I was like, "I'm not gonna weigh myself, I'm not gonna weigh myself..." and I looked at the scale and jumped on it anyway..........
147.0
"Holy shit," I said demurely.
Somehow I had managed to lose 2 pounds since October 5th, and I have only to think that quitting drinking and all the running has something to do with it, as well as the low-calorie day yesterday. My calories do NOT reflect a 7000 calorie deficit. Where is the error? I don't get it. I can only think that the weight training, intense and frequent running, quitting drinking, and the low cal day yesterday (for ME mind you) had to do with it.
Either way, being 2 pounds from my Halloween goal is
exciting and great. It is SUCH a relief to be out of the 150s for me, especially since my goal in April was to STAY in the 130s and that lasted all of 2 months

I feel better today, about being able to keep the calories down. I suspect that I could be as low as 143 if I can stay under 1800 calories for the next 17 days. Especially if I keep running Nisene Marks and weight training 3xs a week.
Tomorrow my goals are:
Run at least 25 minutes in the AM
Take Genie to the Beach at noon
Weight train for a full hour after work
Take yoga class after weight training.
Whew talk about a full day!!!
Oh and nutritionally, I have a confession. Ugh you guys are gonna slap me.

I..I started to drink diet pepsi at work, because I thought I needed caffeine to perk me up and I don't drink coffee, and it was too hot for tea.

Well, I QUIT. It was ruining my sleep. Caffeine ruins my sleep, UNLESS it's from tea, then for whatever reason it doesn't mess with me. What was happening was:
I'd drink too much. My sleep would be all fucked up. The next day, I'd have a diet pepsi to keep me going. Then I'd stay up late. Then the next day I'd be tired and feel like crap, and drink more soda, and eat more, because when I'm tired my body needs energy, and I reach for food....and on and on. A vicious cycle.
SO with me not drinking alcohol or soda, I have felt MUCH better (aside from the fucked up tummy) and am sleeping much better, too. With adequate sleep and no empty calories (except I WILL indulge in a sweet every now and then, I KNOW) AND a strict diet of no more than 1800 calories, I should lose like crazy, given my activity level. Point is, can I stick with it? I feel I can, at least until November. Then I'll slowly introduce some wine at dinner and try to moderate myself. OK! Wish me luck!
