Time to get goin again aint it buddy?

Me too!
Trying to get back in the groove myself.
Dec is here.
Nice to see ya back and with a puke story too!

Hey! Hope you're having a good weekend. :) Just wanted to say hi and wish you luck on your months to come. I think having the trainer will definitely help push you to work out more. :) YAAYY! Keep up the good work adn stay away from those cigarettes! :)

Well it has been a week and 2 days since my last post. My home computer has a FN virus so I haven't been able to get on the internet.

After last week's personal training session, I did 45 minutes of cardio on Tuesday and about 20 minutes on Thursday. I canceled my PT appt on Friday because I was still too sore from Monday.

This week, I had my second PT session at 5am on Monday morning. We focused on back and biceps and also did some abs and legs. It was very hard but not as bad as last week. This morning I did 25 minutes of cardio.

The best news so far is I haven't had a cigarette since November 30th. I think I have it kicked...again. Hopefully I will never start up again.

I want to get back down below 200 lbs by March or April. My weight is fluctuating between 210 and 215. I was 214 with clothes on at my first weigh in last Monday, so I guess we'll go with that weight. I think if I consistently go to my PT sessions twice a week, I am going to put on some muscle for sure. I have never in my life had so many muscles so sore. Right now I can't straighten my arms out and my back muscles are so sore it is hard to put on my clothes.

Derrick

YOU CAN DO IT!!!! congrats on the nonsmoking!!! I havent touched one since id say august..... you and me... we got it kicked!!! :) i was never actually addicted... i just did it when stressed....

now i just go run my ass off and hope i feel better hehe.

congrats on getting back on the horse!!! :) its your time buddy... you can make it happen!! :)

I'm kind of surprised it has been 10 days since I last posted. Time sure is flying. I am still working out pretty hard. I haven't lost any weight yet but my workouts are getting easier and my energy levels have increased a lot. I feel much better.

Here's what my weeks are like now.
1 hour of personal training at 6 am every Monday and Friday morning.
30 to 45 minutes of cardio at least twice a week.
I have also tried to cut my calories down to 2500 a day.

I plan on slowly increasing the duration and/or sessions of cardio I do each week. After my 24 PT sessions are over, I plan on joining the local MMA club. I will continue to swim, bike and run on my own but I will stop the weight lifting while I am doing the MMA stuff. I just don't think I can handle PT and MMA fighting at the same time. Too hard on my muscles and joints.

That's all for now. Hopefully I'll soon be able to say I am losing weight again but nothing so far.

I had to cancel my PT appt yesterday. I have my annual December upper respiratory infection. :toetap05: Hopefully it doesn't last the typical 3 to 4 weeks. Last year it seemed to hang around for 6 weeks. That really sucked.

My dad's company had its Christmas party this past weekend. I received many compliments on how I currently look. That was nice considering I have gained 20 pounds since the summer. No one even noticed though. In fact, many people were surprised when I told them I have actually gained weight. I will say I do feel and look a lot better than I did just a month ago, even though my weight is the same. I think when you are working out a lot, you tend to look better whether you lose weight right away or not. I'm sure the weight loss will come soon if I stick with what I'm doing. I probably just need to cut my calories a little more.

If I feel better tomorrow, I may try to go swim. Otherwise I may just wait until Christmas is over.

WOW...20lbs huh!? I don't feel that bad now that I feel that I have packed on like 10lbs. I'm not sure though...but it feels like it!

I'm sure you still look Fantastic like everyone said & compliments are so REWARDING! ;)!
Hope you had fun! I love company parties!! FREE FOOD & DRINKS...although they generally keep you on a 2 ticket drink leash! hahah Mini Cheers! :cheers2:!!!

...Thanks for stopping by Derrick!!! You are the Best!!! Happy Holidays to you and your wife!!! and FANTASTIC for quitting smoking!!! :D!! I knew you could do it! & I'm proud of you for working out again! Soon Buddy I'll be right behind you!!! ;)!

Hey I have a visitor! :D Thanks for the post Alta. :) The 20 lbs sucks but it's not as bad as it sounds. At least that is what I keep telling myself. :nopity: Seriously though, I'm mad about it but not defeated at all. Mentally, I am already back into workout mode 100%. I just need to make a better effort at cutting my calories and eating healthier foods. I do good the first half of the day but I tend to overeat in the evening. I know if I want to get into weight loss mode I need to eat a lot less in the evenings.

I am really pumped up about 2010. Right now, I'm training hard with a personal trainer with a focus on muscle and strength gain. I am slowly getting into the triathlon training also. My first triathlon is on May 2nd. It's the same one I did last year, a sprint triathlon. 1/4 mile swim, 15 mile bike and 5K run. I want to beat my time from last year by at least 5 minutes. I think I can do it and then some.

I plan on doing at least one other triathlon, one 5K run and one 10K run. Somehow I would also love to do MMA twice a week but it may be hard to fit into my schedule. Something will have to give.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Derrick

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. Mine sucked until about 2pm on Christmas day. My wife and I had a huge fall out and it almost ruined the whole holiday. We made up around 2 and were able to enjoy the rest of the day. Haven't mentioned it yet but she is pregnant again. This time everything is going good. She is already 19 weeks along. We found out a week ago the baby is a boy. We are both very happy to say the least.

My cold is mostly gone. I still have a little bit of a cough but that's all. This morning I had personal training at 6am. It went very well. Unfortunatley I pigged out on left overs at lunch just over an hour ago. Guess I have to eat light the rest of the day. I'm looking forward to January 2nd, the official end to the holiday and high calorie food season.

Derrick

Hi Derrick, Happy Holidays - congrats on the news about the little boy! How exciting for you and your wife! I hear ya about wanting January 2nd to come! I am totally done with the holidays and eating bad and not having time for the gym. It's fun but sometimes when you think back on it - it's really not worth it, for me anyway. I was feeling so good 10 days ago and now I have so much work to do to get back there - it's just tiring thinking about it. I promise I will get back into it though because I do not want to go back to the old me ever again! Thanks for reminding me of that in my diary! I'm looking forward to toning and maintaining in 2010!! Cheers and see you around!:waving:

...Also, I have to tell you, that I loveeeeeeee your cheeks in your Avi there!...they look PINCHABLE!...Dimples are the Shit & I wanna Pinch em, I'm so happy for yoU!!...hahah!! ;)! :p!

LOL about the dimples. I have one and a half dimples. :D

I have been doing a new swimming routine to help me build up some yardage. I want to eventually start swimming a couple mornings a week with the Masters Team again.

Here's the swim:
500 yards, rest 30 seconds
400 yards pull, rest 30 seconds
300 yards, rest 30 seconds
200 yards pull, rest 30 seconds
100 yards

Total 1500 yards. Takes me about 27 minutes start to finish.

Then I have been getting out of the pool and hopping on the exercise bike. I need to get the feeling back in my legs. After the bike I have been going straight to the treadmill and jogging as much as I can. I had to stop the last time because I forgot to drink water after I got out of the pool and I instantly got calf cramps when I started jogging. So I walked for 10 minutes and then stretched real good.

Feeling sore right now from Monday morning's PT session. Getting ready to go the gym this afternoon. Not sure if I will swim or do the bike and run. I think from now on I will still combine the biking with the running but leave the swimming separate.

Derrick

Great workout & I will Definitely be taking you up on the swimming lesson tips in about one week, when my swimming starts again! ...Super proud of your Tri training here! :D!....I didn't know that you start to cramp from water to running. Good observation. Slight stretching needed I presume.

Actually I get calf cramps almost every time I go from the bike to running.

Swimming is all about technique. If you are doing it wrong, you will make it so much harder than it actually is. Not to say it is easy, but usually much easier than some people make it. It is also driven by what your upper body does. You can have a lousy kick but still swim very fast if your upper body and hips are doing things correctly.

Which I presume is needed for a Triathon correct? Meaning about the strong upper body. I would assume that you save your legs throughout the time you swim to give em a little bit of a rest for the run and the bike right?!

...generally what order does it go in? Swim, Bike, then run? Or Swim, Run, then bike?

:)

Swim, bike, run. The swim portion lasts the least. The bike lasts the longest. I think you are right on about saving your legs during the swim. In long distance swimming I pretty much use a very light kick. My legs never get very tired.

I am getting ready to go to the gym this morning for some triathlon training.

Another member here gave me some idea's for the new year.
My main goal is to reach either 191 lbs or 10% body fat by the end of 2010.
My first mini goal is 205 by Valentine's Day.

I am going to the grocery store today to buy a ton of bottled water. I have been drinking too much diet soda and almost no water for too long now. It's time to start doing a whole bunch of little things right again to get big results.

:waving:

Good choice choosing water bottles over diet soda! It's kind of funny.... I used to drink 2 Diet Coke's a day... loved them... now when I drank one last night... it tasted like a regular Coke! Too sweet and sugary. Water is way better. I even came across this posting about water the other day, and it really made me realize that water is KEY! (Posted by Omega, under the thread "How much water?")

Check it out :D And I'm glad to see you have a mini goal set for yourself too! I always need something to work towards. The next goal AFTER Valentine's Day is Spring Break :coolgleamA:

Thanks for the link Sarah. I agree water is very important.
I'm sitting here with my family waiting for company to start showing up. Enjoying one last night of glutony and drinking.

I swam 1500 yards at lunch today. Spent the afternoon cleaning the house in preparation for tonight's party.

Happy New Year everyone!
