Dear Diary...

Today is my start day..like many others before it..but this time I am ready. What I feel I was lacking was support (from others) since I am no doubt driving my husband insane..lol..although I love hime with all my heart, he's never been where I am.

I joined SFL in the Spring of '08 and lost 80lbs that year. Didn't re-join in '09, so here I am a year and some later up 50lbs.

I know what to do..it's just to do it.

So, here is what I'm following (SFL):
day 1:
omelette/fruit
fruit
meat/veggies/carb (brown rice etc)
fruit
meat/veggies
berries/jello

day 2:
grain bread/organic pb/fruit
fruit
meat/veggies (no carb)
fruit
meat/veggies
berries/jello

days alternate for the week.

Oct. 8/10
breakfast: slimfast shake..not my toast/fruit but I just didn't feel like breakfast this morning, I thought it was better than nothing
snack: apple
dinner: bell peppers wrapped in extra lean 60% less sodium turkey and some carrots
snack: ice cream..glad when that crap is out of the house. Home with my 5yr old and just "had it anyway"..sucks and a cpl of wafer cookies
supper: chinese food...why? went on a date night and haven't been to one in a year. Although it actually tasted good at the time...the guilt is not worth it
snack: 2 glasses of Baileys on ice
water: 2L/3L
exercise: 20min. treadmill/10min. bike(2)/10min. t-zone (13)
notes: spending the morning at the elementary school for our apple fundraiser and Thanksgiving dinner, felt good after my morning exercise, wish I had more time.
Afternoons are my WORST time of day..as you can tell on day one!! :(

S.F.L. is Simply for Life.
You go once a week to see a nutritionist who gives you a meal plan along with a list of healthy food and foods to stay away from.
You go in once a week for weigh in and to talk about your week. You have a food journal.
I found it helpful to have someone to be accountable to, I think that's part of the reason I put so much back on..no one knew but me what I was eating and well I can lie to myself pretty convincingly!

Slim fast shakes are awesome and yet disgusting. I find them really filling--Do you? Just never fills that "gap" that a good meal fills!

Welcome to the forum Amanda! Good luck with your weight loss journey and if you stick around and post in your journal, I'm sure you'll find some really good support here!

I'm with you Sunflower...they look a bit like sperm consistency to me but yet if you can actually manage to drink em, they do fill you up. YUK YUK YUK though!

Sunflower~I do find they do the trick for those mornings I either don't feel like eating or am on the run..I don't plan on having them often though.
They're filling and I don't mind the flavor or consistancy.
jjjay~Thank you, I love this place already!

So, lets hope day 2 is better than one!

Oct. 9/10
breakfast: omlette w/peppers, flax and mushrooms *ended up burning it/banana/had a bit of leftover chinese
snack: energy bar
dinner: wrap with chicken breast and veggies
snack: visiting at a camp, had a cpl sun chips and wafer cookies
supper: deer and moose meat
snack: hot chocolate with a shot of Baileys
water:2/3L

notes: so wanted to sleep in but 7:30 am it is! Lots of time to exercise this morning...has turned into none..ended going to Mom's to do her housework this morning instead of later, so we can go for a drive in the woods (kids stayed at a camp with friends)
As you can clearly see...I have issues with eating right still...

Isn't flax like a kind of material you spin and make fabric from?!?! hehe...I now have bizarre mental picture of what you were eating!

I will never look at Slim Fast in the same way again...HAHAHA!

Good luck Amanda...and welcome to the forum! :)

A little history about me..

At the age of 31, my oldest sister had a heart attack. She was the single mother to 5 children, she smoked and she drank (both of which she quite shortly after). She survived and remarried.
We celebrated her 50th birthday. At this time she was wearing a size 5x and not healthy at all. She had diabetes as well.
Jan. of the following year she joined L.A. weightloss and had lost 11lbs, then got sick with the flu.
She inspired me..how could I being a size 18, not do what she was doing at her size. So, I started my journey.
The end of Feb. she passed away from another heart attack. There was too much damage from the first one for her to survive the second one.
I continued and before joining the nutrition center (simply for life) SFL, I lost 25lbs on my own thanks to my sister.

I don't know why I didn't stay inspired...how could I not? She was my sister and meant the world to me.

I lost 80lbs total and put 50lbs back on..how could I do that? I had never been 171lbs for as long as I could remember...and it felt GOOD! Now I just feel fat!

I'm not the type that hears so and so lost 20lbs so I'm gonna do better and "show them up"...not me at all...sometimes I wish I was, just a little bit.

I was told recently by an aquaintance (that hasn't seen me since the +50) that I inspire her...how can I inspire someone if I can't keep my weight off?

We went back to a camp because a few friends were home from out west...boy was it hard..the last time they saw me 2yrs ago..I was 170something..some didn't even recognize me, thought dh had a new wife!!!! Well, it was hard going to face those same people, knowing had I kept being successful on my journey I'd have been smokin' (well, wishing..lol).

So, here I am hoping to lose enough weight that atleast by Christmas I'm fitting comfortably into my 12's again and going from there!

Amanda - I'm so sorry to hear about your sister - it sounds like you got some really strong reasons to be on this journey and to do so in memory of her.

Just keep focused and strong. I believe in tackling every day as it comes because every day is a new day - we dont put on lbs and lbs in one day but by repeating the same bad choices over and over again and letting one bad day sabotage the next and so on. So, I don't beat myself up if I don't match my own expectations - either in the past or at the end of a day. I step back and say I can't change that BUT I can change what I do tomorrow.

I guess what I am trying to say is, you know what you have to do, you want to do it so go out there from now on and achieve what you want. Don't beat yourself up about putting on the 50lbs again - you can't change that. Sure, going to meet your old friends at camp wasn't as great as it could have been for you becuase you'd put weight back on, but they are your friends...and the weight undoubtedly meant more to you than them. Go forward, look ahead and see that clear vision of where you want to be. I know you can do it.

Thank you sooo much for saying this..I definately needed it, believe me it helps.
I will refer to your post many times!

I am learning not to beat myself up but it's hard and that's when I let myself down the most. I go into the "who cares" mode and binge.

I did fail to mention that my mother is over weight and diabetic, had double bypass surgery this past June.
My father had a triple bypass.
I come from a family of 10..and have had one sister pass away due to heart attack, another that is overweight (I'd say size 16 or 18) and 2 brothers who have had heart attacks (both survived) and one who has sleep apnea and is over weight.
Not a very healthy family at all, all the more reason to do this.

Happy Thanksgiving!

dh says take 6 months to take off the 50lbs I put back on, that's 8lbs a month. Totally doable IF I follow my SFL plan. That takes me to March. That gives me 6 more months to lose the additional 30lbs I want to lose and then re-assess (sp?) next Fall.

This is my plan, so hopefully...Fall 2011 I'll be the me I'm looking forward to meeting!!

Gotta work on nightime snacking..it's becoming the ruination of me!!!

Oct. 12/10
