Deadlifts on a Upper/Lower split?

For the last month I've switched to an upper/lower split from a push/pull/leg, and it's definitely been effective for me, probably because I also started mainly doing compounds. I've been doing straight leg deadlifts on my lower day because it focuses more on the legs, but I was wondering when I should do regular deadlifts. My upper body is usually still sore when I do my lower body day, and vice versa (usually have 1-3 days of rest between workouts). Is an upper/lower split not good for doing deadlifts because it works both?

The deadlift is a lower body exercise.

the deadlift is clearly a lower and upper body exercise and i have the same problem myself.

i think you should maybe concentrate on either squat or deadlift for a while and cycle between them. im doing this myself at the moment and its definately less taxing. you may also be more motivated when you go back to the other lift.

I agree with Karky, I feel deadlifts most in my quads, glutes and spinal eretors. They do create some stimulation in the lats and traps and grip, but that is minor and should not impede your upper body workout or recovery if done on a consecutive day.

I would recommend alernating heavy and speed workouts, so on one day you do heavy squats and speed deadlifts or stiff legged/romanian deadlifts and the next day you do heavy deadlifts and speed squats.

but he's wondering when he should do the conventional, he's thinking of adding it.

Speed-reading doesn't cut it, Buzz :p
