deadlift

hello. basically i have been working out witgh weights for about 2 months .. never really hit deadlifting .. mainly did lat pulldowns .. rows .. shoulder press .. bench ..

but im currently on my second week of a str program .. so basically its all compounds ..

originally i could only do 185 like 2 times .. right now when i started last week .. 185 is not a problem and for my 5rm or maybe 6rm i hit 225 .. which was last friday .. so on wensday i tried 235 for my 5rm since it didnt seem so bad .. but for some reason i was pretty weak .. so i could only do 235 once .. so i dropped it back down to 225 .. and i could only pull once .. so i went back down to 185 to finish off my 5 ..

what can i do to help strengthen my deadlift .. i would like to be able to hit over 300 by dec maybe

Hit those assistance lifts. Romanian deadlifts, good mornings, glute-ham raises to hit the posterior chain. When my deadlift rose, the first thing to go was my grip. Heh. Could tell you to maintain your quads, but most deficiencies typically are a result of a weak posterior chain. If anything, it's good to switch things up now and then.

Oh, and if you're having issues off the floor but lock out fine, do deficit deadlifts - deadlifts off a platform so you end up having to get deeper for the same weight.

Otherwise, be patient.
