Daymons Diary

w00t! Lost another pound! Almost to the 220's now! For the first time yesterday I worked out for an entire hour. Half hour in the afternoon, then another half hour in the evening. I think by working out in the evening it may help keep my metabolism up for the better part of a whole 24 hour day. I hope so.

I've learned a ton about nutrition since starting this. I'm finally getting to where I can go to the store and bring back a whole cart full of nothing but whole foods including snacks. I even found these bags of individual packets of apple slices. How cool is that?!!! Only 35 cals per packet (about 7 slices). Perfect for a quick snack. Found a few other interesting food choices too. I'm so sick of chicken I could barf, but it wont be so bad in some stir fry :D Pretty happy about that. Just goes to show you healthy food can taste good too.

There are plenty of other meats that are good for you; it doesn't have to be just chicken. ;)

The important thing to do is to buy meat you can trim the fat from easily, it's not the meat that is bad, it the layer of fat you see on so many of the cuts. Another good thing you can do is add really strong flavors to the chicken or cook it different ways, change up the taste and texture; it doesn't seem so bad at that point.

Welcome back!

Started eating right and exercising again on March 14 2008 with a starting weight of 258 lbs. 2 days later I'm down 5 lbs. I'm not sure how this is possible. It must be a shock to my system or something. I bought an Pro-Form iFit treadmill that I am using with iFit sd cards that have 6 week programs built in. It's nice because it works something like a personal trainer while on the treadmill and you can take the sd card out and track your progress on the computer. Last summer I had myself up to running 3 miles in 30 minutes 3 to 4 times a week, and wasn't sure if this beginner iFit course was right for me, but it seems to be doing the trick so far.

It's March 15th, and I'm down 3 more lbs for a total of 8 lbs lost since I started 3 days ago. I know that's a lot of weight to lose in 3 days, but I'm really not doing anything drastic. I'm just working out, and eating right. My caloric intake is above 1500 calories. I'm sure this rate of weight loss isn't going to last long, but it sure is a nice start :)

Even stranger, I'm only doing about 20 minutes of cardio on my treadmill, but with a progressively intense workout with varying speeds and inclines. Eventually I'll do much more, but I'm trying to work myself up to it gradually.

Just posting an update. I've been gone for awhile, and instead of losing, I gained. A lot! My boys are teenagers now, and they want to workout with me and our new BowFlex :) I'm hoping this will be just the thing I need to stay motivated, other than just feeling great after so long of being this..... well, huge :(

I just wanted to report things are going good so far. The idea to workout with my boys has turned out to be a winner. They are excited to work towards better physical condition (they are not fat at all) with the hopes of getting bigger and stronger, while I'm excited about getting smaller and stronger. :)

This has helped a lot to keep me motivated, and it's also great to have something we all do and enjoy as a family. I have dropped some pounds, but will not post my progress until Monday, my official weigh in day. I can't help but to weigh daily, but It doesn't count until Monday :)

it's great if you have someone to work out with, My eldest son trains with me sometimes :)

Got my first full week in since starting back. Looking forward to the "big weigh in" tomorrow. Shooting for 2 to 3 pounds a week for now :)

Still going............

I'm not sure if I have lost any weight since Monday, or not. I always weigh with my workout clothes on, and I have been doing my best not to skip breakfast or lunch, so by the time I get around to my workout I have food in my belly which will give me an inaccurate weight.

Hit my goal for last week with three pounds lost, and I'm shooting for another 3 pounds this week. I'm keeping a 2000 calorie limit, and working out 30 to 45 minutes 5 days a week. Strictly cardio for now until I get under 220 lbs.

Didn't workout yesterday. It was the first off day in a week since I decided to keep going over the weekend to be good and sure I hit that 3 lbs mark.

Started counting calories this week too. I'm using FitDay, which helps a lot.

I fell off the horse last year, and have been getting on and off since the beginning of the year. Something has got to give. I feel motivated, and hopeful one day, then tired, and discouraged the next. The tired and discouraged days lead to weeks, until I get back up, and try again. It's a vicious cycle. I need to break the pattern! I'm currently 250 lbs.
