Darth Pooh, Sith Lord of the Honey Pot

Hola...

So, my thesis is complete... or so I've been told by the powers that be that I can stop writing. :)

I just got back from my honeymoon on Monday and I topped the scales at 192. Some of it is water weight and most of it is "Keith didn't count a damn calorie".

I am not worried as most of my tone in my abs was slowly disappearing due to my bulk anyways. I miss what I was working on so this past Tuesday, I decided it was time to start cutting again. I think a good solid 20 lbs which should take me into January or so should be sufficient. I am going to miss my 2800 calorie days ;) 2300 is the range I am now shooting for (2200 some days will be ok, 2400 other days will be fine). Plus I am going back to my full body workout routine (with some added lifts that I enjoyed doing from my bulk, i.e. deadlifts).

So, I should be back in this forum full swing now that my masters program is almost finished. I missed this place.

what was your thesis on - and when is itpublished so we can all read it ? :D

congrats on that too - that's a pretty big accomplishment...

Thesis was on Ketosis diets... sort of. Its an education program, so I only had to write a 10 or so page paper (mini thesis) then tie it into how it could be educational, which took up about 30 pages on its own. That is the boring part of it... the ketosis information is what was interesting to me. I don't think it gets "published". ;)

No cake smooshing I hope :)

You both look mah-vellous...

congrats on saying I DUZ...

:: waits for the baby maleficents::

Tons of cake smooshing, I am in the middle of converting a lot of pictures to a smaller format for posting, so I'll show you when thats ready.

Thanks... we both lost some weight before the wedding to be ready for it. She lost about 20 pounds... I lost about 120 lbs :)

I thought she was actually pregnant this weekend... but no, she's not :(

Good pictures attached for laughs... the old one is me, my sister and brother at my sister's wedding. I am not at my heaviest here, only about 260 lbs maybe. This guy doesn't know it but he has 30+ more lbs he is going to gain. The second, is obviously my wedding...

Speaking of being back...

Back to basics for me. I am down to 2000-2100 calories a day again. I might go to 2300 on the weekends. Full body workout 3 times a week (MWF), core workout twice (TTH), and cardio interval stuff for about 35 minutes a day (M-F). This leaves me off for the weekend in terms of working out.

This is to drop me down 3 lbs a month. I ultimately have a goal of trying to lose the loose skin around my stomach without having surgery. I don't know if this is realistic or not, but it's worth a shot before I spend $6,000 bucks.

So far, I don't know if there is a difference, I sort of see less mush in the mirror. I will start measurements this Saturday. When I got back from my honeymoon I might have taken them too, so that should be a good follow up. I weighed 196 when I got back! Now I believe I am down to 188 again... however, I'd say a good 8 lbs came from my bulk earlier this year, I think if I lost 10 more lbs of fat I might see a difference in my stomach area. I think that is where most of the fat in my body is left anyways.

nice to see you back :D

I seem to be happier being back... it's weird that I feel like I have order with a deficit diet. A bulk diet has a ton of uncertainties for me and I wasn't exactly a super fan of it. Not to say I won't be going back on it when I drop the weight I want to.... but I always felt like I was eating constantly and food logs got hectic. Even though I only went up to 2800 calories (700 more than now)... I was doing a ton less cardio which might have given me the extra pudge.

Maybe my next bulk will consist of 2600 calories + cardio twice a week (interval stuff). Something to consider so the fat doesn't pile on as quickly.

In reality, it took me 3 months to gain about 14 lbs of muscle/fat in a bulk. If I would guess, of those 14, only 5-7 was lean muscle. MAYBE that is even a stretch.

Back to cutting, huh. Best to ya!

Yeah, I think I see the importance behind it... at least in terms of losing this extra skin. I'd prefer not to have elective surgery and/or spend a small fortune on it (that's money I'd like to refinish my basement with).

Since lose skin is a real wild card for people I am not even sure I should put a non-achievable goal on such a pedestal... I may be setting myself up for failure and disappointment.

Venuto says it's all about fat being stored in the pockets of skin, once the fat is gone, then you can allow the skin to snap back. This means I have to get to single digit body fat (imo), which is perhaps a totally different plan (diet and exercise) than I mentioned earlier. It will be interesting to see if what Venuto says is even correct.

Random Thoughts...

Be looking in the mirror too much lately. I am beginning to see those positive things that I used to have, slight ab definition and what not. It's also bringing the negative as well... Pouch (muffin top) seems to hang a little more than usual. I wonder if its because I am actually "draining" the fat from those folds which makes them more defined.

Last time I got to a certain point and I started my bulk, this time I am going to try to get fairly low in terms of BF (SHOOT for single digits if that's even possible with me) before I start another bulk. I personally think I can get rid of the loose skin issue (not altogether, but put me in a better mental state) unlike my last failed attempt to since I was premature (although I don't mind the additional muscle mass which looks quite nice now that I have lost 10 or so lbs since I got back from vacation).

Another random thought.. I was doing some math the other day... I lost 5 lbs in two weeks (I will chalk one lb over to glycogen/water), which means in one week I was in a deficit of 7000 calories! Now, something isn't right here at all... because I take in about 2300 calories a day (including supplements and all), which means I burn 23,100 calories a day! I work out 5 days a week (Mon-Fri), and my BMR has been calculated to 1963 cals per day. If I multiple it by 1.3 for my job (teacher) and then add in my work outs at 600-700 calories (but not for the weekends) it puts me at 18303! About 5000 short of what I really burnt... so my calculations are way off. I turned to my wife and asked her, if I burn so much more than I think, how was I so fat?! She said, "You probably always had a decent metabolism... you just don't remember how you used to eat." Then we recalled exactly the type of meals I used to eat... easily 3-4k when eating out per meal. Sigh...

I've heard numerous people note how are dieting (especially people who aren't overly fat) say that once they start dieting, their fat gets 'squishier.'

I think it has to do with what's happening inside the fat cells. Fat is leaving. Other stuff is taking it's place for the time being.

Glycogen / Water perhaps? I need to get a WOOSH effect going on, I'd love to see the change in measurements more so than the scale. At least the measurements give me something REAL.
