Danielle Elise's Diet Journal *take 2*

I was on this site briefly back in the summer when I was attempting to crash diet for the umpteenth time, but it failed (of course) and now I'm back again looking for a community to align myself with in this battle. And it truly is a battle, especially since I've been on the Depo shot for a month and have felt the strongest increase in appetite ever.

All I think about is food-- what my next meal will be, what should I make for dinner, what treats can I surprise my boyfriend with. Being on the Depo shot and having a boyfriend have made me gain weight. I'm not sure how much, but I just came home from buying a fancy scale and am about to take my measurements and weight for my official weigh-in.

My initial goal is to weigh 195lbs. I haven't weighed that since 2006 and since then I've meandered in between 200 and 215. Since I'm a large, tall girl 15lbs doesn't affect me like someone smaller.

In any event, I'm going on a restricted calorie diet, with 1300 calories allotted a day and I'm going to be planning out all my food consumption the day before.

Time to see the scale:

DADADA!!!:piggy:

weight: 214.6 lbs @ 9:00PM
body fat %: 41.6
water %: 42.6

Man oh man... 214 is a lot. On 11/7/08 (prior to dating Dhiren) I weighed 206lbs. Sheesh. I've put on 8lbs in 3 months.

Well, now I'm planning out my menu, no exceptions and I'm going walking 30 minutes every other day starting for a week.

*takes a big breath*

:waving:Hi there! Welcome to your journal!

Have you done any research regarding how many calories you should be consuming for your height/weight/gender/age in order to safely lose your weight? 1300 sounds mighty low, especially since you are a "large, tall girl".

Best wishes on your journey, :auto:

Yesterday went well, although I didn't do perfect. Do you ever have perfect days though?

I stuck to my eating so-so with some deviations in added snacks and sweets. I had a piece of chocolate chip cookie dough, some Sour Patch kids, 40 chocolate covered raisins and two pieces of this feta cheese/ spinach appetizer thing on top of my menu. I definitely went over 1300-- I probably was around 1800. I went running/walking for about two

Food for today:

I cup Honey Bunches of Oats [220]
1 cup vanilla soy milk [120]
handful of blueberries

Stir-fry from Trader Joes [440]
1 piece garlic Naan [240]
1/4 c. hummus [140]

That leaves me with 140 calories for today-- I'll have a salad with little dressing and lots of vegetables/ fruit for dinner.

I also went to the gym today and ran for forty minutes. I'm feeling good!

I'm aiming for 2-3lbs a week, so 1300 should be good. As long as I'm not feeling hungry or ill, I'll continue with that. My body will let me know if 1300 isn't enough.

Thanks for the encouragement!

I'm at 214.4lbs this morning. sheesh. Granted D and I went for a Del Taco run and both downed 1/2 pound cheese tacos. I was feeling depressed because of drama and hormones and so I suppose I sought food for release. I didn't think it could be even harder to lose weight with a boyfriend.

Yesterday I ate:

Two pieces of whole wheat bread [200]
1 TBSP of yogurt spread
2 scrambled eggs with ricotta cheese [170]
1 cup soymilk [100]

1/2 faux chicken sandwich at Veggie Grill (all vegan) [?? apprx. 350]
A lot of fried sweet potato fries [400]

5 chocolates (250 calories right there)
A couple bites of granola with chocolate chips [70]
1 mini yogurt from Golden Spoon [68]+[150]

2 bean and cheese burritos (easy bean, extra cheese, sour cream) [300+300]
1/2 quesadilla [250]
1 cup sprite [100]

TOTAL= 2608

HA! Maybe that's why I'm not losing weight. OMG... basically though, that's what I would have eaten normally any given day-- that's what I have been. Luckily I konked out because my boyfriend brought me over chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. Jesus. That would have definitely made it go up to 3000 calories. :(

Well I know what I have to do, it's applying it and getting my boyfriend to understand and respect it that is the problem.

1. I CANNOT eat out. Zippo, no eating out. If I stayed home and made my own food, the calories would be cut in half.

2. I CANNOT indulge in sweets. At all. That ice cream in the fridge sounds AMAZING, but I can't do it.

3. I need to eat more fruits and vegetables and replace gross snacks like granola and chocolate chips with fresh fruit.

4. I need to plan ahead.

5. I need to give up dairy. Period. No more cheese, no more milk, no more butter.

6. I need to count every calorie that enters my mouth.

*sigh* I want this so badly it hurts.

I also think that 1300 in way too low. I think trying to keep your calories that low will result in the binge-start over cycle. I weigh almost 100 lbs less than you, and I eat more than that and lose weight.

I think your goals of not eating out, eating more fruits and veggies, planning ahead, and counting your calories are very good. I don't understand why you feel the need to cut out dairy? Also completely depriving yourself of sweets will eventually backfire. You want to change your lifestyle, not go on a diet. Are you going to quit eating sweets and dairy forever?? You need to find a balance between eating healthy and enjoying delicious food.

I'm not trying to sound negative or discourage you, I just think you could be setting yourself up for failure by restricting yourself too much.

good luck with it. To be honest I think it would be better to just cut down and have smaller portoins than stopping eating like sweets and stuff completely. I know for me that just makes me crave them even more just because I know I can't have them. Not that I know a lot only been trying for a week

I've met my one week goal of 2lbs! I think I'm going to start focusing more on week by week, since I tend to always look way ahead. I think small, manageable goals will work better and keep me motivated. In terms of working out, I'm basically making 3 days a week. I know I should bump it up to more if I want to continue losing a 2lbs/week.

In RE: to my calorie intake-- I've set a goal at 1300, but I eat what I need to to keep my body feeling good. I'm in no way starving myself, so just because one person needs 1800 calories (even if they do weight less) doesn't mean that's the perfect number for me. I'm perfectly willing to increase my number, but so far aiming for 1300 is a good goal. I usually end up with anywhere from 1300-1600, so it's not a perfect math equation.

So my one week goal is going to be to weigh 210.4lbs. I'm going to keep trying to write everything down and eat healthier choices. I've been doing well with not eating out though! It's been about 5 days since I've bought anything outside of Trader Joes!
