Heh, same here.

Do you have any friends that do any blacksmithing? You may need to tag team on the forge welding... one person stands at the anvil ready while the other person brings it to the anvil and holds it while the other hammers away. Might give you that additional bit of time you wouldn't otherwise have.

Blacksmithing sounds like quite a workout! in cartoons they always have giant forearms, which is an attribute that is a major turn on for me, in a man :D

Today is Wednesday, according to Yoga, the 4th Spiritual Law or the Law of Least Effort:

In Vedic Science, the age-old philosophy of India, this principle is known as the principle of economy of effort, or "do less and accomplish more." Ultimately you come to the state where you do nothing and accomplish everything. This means that there is just a faint idea, and then the manifestation of the idea comes about effortlessly. What is commonly called a "miracle" is actually an expression of the Law of Least Effort.

Nature's intelligence functions effortlessly, frictionlessly, spontaneously. It is non-linear; it is intuitive, holistic, and nourishing. And when you are in harmony with nature, when you are established in the knowledge of your true Self, you can make use of the Law of Least Effort.

Least effort is expended when your actions are motivated by love, because nature is held together by the energy of love. When your actions are motivated by love, your energy multiplies and accumulates -- and the surplus energy you gather and enjoy can be channeled to create anything that you want, including unlimited wealth.

Attention to the ego consumes the greatest amount of energy. When your internal reference point is the ego, when you seek power and control over other people or seek approval from others, you spend energy in a wasteful way.

When that energy is freed up, it can be rechanneled and used to create anything that you want. When your internal reference point is your spirit, when you are immune to criticism and unfearful of any challenge, you can harness the power of love, and use energy creatively for the experience of affluence and evolution.

In The Art of Dreaming, Don Juan tells Carlos Castaneda, ". . . most of our energy goes into upholding our importance.... If we were capable of losing some of that importance, two extraordinary things would happen to us. One, we would free our energy from trying to maintain the illusory idea of our grandeur; and two, we would provide ourselves with enough energy to ... catch a glimpse of the actual grandeur of the universe."

Anyway I meditated on "Om Daksham Namah" or "My actions achieve maximal benefit from minimal effort" this morning.

I didn't heed the ancient advice all the way--I tried yoga poses I fell out of this morning, and I ran on the beach for lunch and the sand was really soft so it was difficult. BUT I didn't strain on the yoga, and I only ran for 34 minutes instead of my usual 45 because I didn't feel I could do it that long. But it went fine.

Today is Farmers' Market and cooking dinner with Chris. This evening I'm going to have him help me try some trickier yoga poses and some inversions and head stands. It's best not to try those alone.

Yeah, but if you look at most professional blacksmiths, they have the big forearms, and a big gut to match. :ack2: :smash:

There are plenty of really great women blacksmiths, too. Lorelei Sims wrote The Backyard Blacksmith. Really great book.

Here are two pictures of my shop:

Sure it's a bit of a mess, but I like it that way. :sifone:

Yeah, I'm pretty proud of that. I never built anything like that, and I just did the design and everything myself.

Behind it is a bunch of acres of woods. I wanted it to fit in with that. It's funny to think that it's right in the middle of NYC suburbia. I like being the anti-suburbanite. :sifone:

That's why we bought the place. The house is not very nice, but the land is wonderful. I'm sure that some day they will tear down all the trees and build a bunch of McMansions there, but till then it's a slice of heaven. The kids will play out there for hours. It's really great.

Glad your kids have an opportunity to have the woods around them. I grew up in the "Tri Valley"--considered the SF Bay Area but as far as you can get and still be called that! Gross--although Oak trees are some of the most beautiful and magnificent trees there are, IMO--I'm torn between oak and redwoods.....it's like picking one friend over the other--can't be done!

Gawd I love Frank Zappa......well, maybe like 35% of his stuff--much of it is way too out there for even I! The Torture Never Stops..... Ahhhh!

Food: Kombucha, Acai, part of a raw chocolate torte from last night, cottage cheese, veggie sandwich on (gasp!) Franchese bread :blush5:, and ice cream sandwich at 3pm :drooling:.

I plan on making a delicious dinner with Chris, something like the coconut curry dish from a few weeks ago.

I'm craving a yoga class this evening but it'll have to be independent with Chris assisting.

My fucking camera is not working right--it'll flash but pictures in the dark don't show up! Otherwise it works....I want pics of me in weird asanas but that might not happen :(

I hear that!

I grew up in San Pablo, currently living in Concord. Every so often I head up Mt. Diablo to enjoy the huge old oaks at the Juniper campground. Or I'll head over to Muir Woods EARLY in the morning before the buses full of tourists get there. Get out and head to the beach by the time the parking lot is full. Then there's that drive up to Mendocino through the redwood highway... LOVE IT!

But there's a lot of the Bay Area that just makes me wanna :puke: Only thing that keeps me here is the fact that virtually all of my family lives anywhere from a half hour to an hour away. Well, the family I'll have anything to do with, anyway. :grouphug:

Update

Yesterday Chris and I had a lovely time at Market, purchasing arugula, water cress, avocados, collards, leeks, honey (for him, not me :p), salmon, and peaches and pluots.

I picked up some blue cheese crumbles at New Leaf and we went to my house. Chris asked me "why do people do Yoga?" and I was trying to explain. I told him about my personal desire, I read a little from the book, then I demonstrated some asanas and asked for his assistance. Not too long after he "got it." In fact, although he is frail and broken (has fractures in bones that can't heal) he was enjoying assisting me. And he said he felt rejuvenated that he was actually on his feet doing something (like pushing on my back or pulling my arms this way or that) instead of sitting, in pain, slouched over. I was like, "See? Activity is good for the body." :)

I demonstrated myself flowing from Surya Namaskara B to Standing Sequence from memory. I forgot a few parts, but since it was late and my body was all limber from being up all day, I did a nearly perfect job, and even when I fell out of , I still did it gracefully and stayed centered with my gaze (drishti). Chris, who has studied Samuri swordsmanship, said my "chi" was absolutely powerful, focused, and emanating.

Word. :chillpill:

He said, "Some people got it and some people don't. In regards to Yoga, you got it." That was sweet, but it started a whole argument on anyone can do almost anything if they practice and really try, focusing all attention on their practice. Chris and I get along oh so well! :hug2: That's not sarcasm.

Dinner was fingerling potatoes in coconut curry sauce with collards, leeks, ginger, garlic, squash, Alaskan King salmon, and spices with an arugula-water cress-avocado-blue cheese-heirloom tomato salad in balsamic vinaigrette. All fresh from the Farmer's Market. Tatiana came home and we all chatted and ate and relaxed before I made it to bed at 11pm.

Chris showed me the hilarious ad for the Spacecool H-22 cooler that I'm borrowing from him right now. You know how the Japanese sometimes use English words, but don't research the exact meaning as much, and come out with advertisements like you see on Engrish.com? Well, here's one for them:

The chick in the demo is wearing THIS shirt! :smilielol5:

hahahaha.......THAT is FUNNY!!! I like that SHIRT!!! LOL.....I adore hearing about your friendships with Chris....they are so SWEET and kind hearted!!! You are an ANGEL with a HUGE HEART & SOUL my dear!!!.........."Chris" is my brother's name! :grouphug:

OMG! That SHIRT!!! I WANT ONE!!!! :rotflmao::rofl:

Chris sounds like a wonderful soul.

And your description of dinner made me HUNGRY! :drool5: Now I need to go find some salmon for tonight.

I have so much to learn about yoga! I'm more limber now than I've been in over a decade, yet I know I'd break myself doing the position in that link. Love the Sun Salute border on the web page though. I've been trying to practice some of the breathing while driving... it keeps me a lot calmer.
