Creatine

When you stop using it, do you lose everything, like I have heard. I heard that you lose all the strength you have gained and it turns to fat. Can someone let me know what really happens when you stop taking this stuff

Muscle doesn't turn to fat, no matter what. The myth behind that involves getting used to taking in more calories than you're using while you're lifting. Once you stop, you're used to eating that much and you're not burning as many calories as you were before and you're not building new muscle, so you gain fat. Has nothing to do with creatine.

Creatine can cause water retention which can give an appearance of bigger muscles that will go away once you stop taking it.

Creatine is an effective supplement that supplies energy to your muscles which enables you to work harder, gain more muscle, and recover quicker because you're replenishing the energy and because you aren't producing as much lactic acid.

I would not do a loading phase as suggested with the creatine, and make sure you take the creatine after you work out. There haven't been any studies showing any negative effects, however some other health benefits have been shown to possibly be associated with taking creatine.

So when you stop using creatine, you dont build more muscle even if you keep working out? I don't want to take it if that is the case...
 
Even if you're not on creatine and you lift, you will build muscle. Creatine basically just slightly improves recovery and energy, so over time it adds up.
 
I dont plan on using creatine long, just thoughout high school so I could get big for football...

Since that is the case, am I better off not using it, because I dont want to lose everything when I stop....

You are not going to lose everything once you stop, but you will not be as strong as you were when you were on it. Creatine (in some magical way,dont know the science) allows you to lift more weight than you would be able to if you were not on it, therefor you will be getting better and faster gains than if you werent on it. Take advantage of the time when you are on it and lift heavy. When you quit taking it the muscle will stay, you just wont be able to lift as heavy as when you were on it.

I'll be able to gain muscle though right?

You say I will lose strenght, but I will be able to gain it back and then get stronger as long as I keep working out?

A previous poster said that it woiuld be harder to gain muscle when you stop taking it. I just want to make sure that when I do stop I will still be able to get stronger and gain strength.

Creatine is fantastic. First of all you will not lose anything when you get off it. You will sometimes lose a little size but if you are doing it for strength only then that is no big deal. The reason you might lose a little size is because creatine makes you retain a little water in your muscles making them look bigger. When you get off you will look more ripped. They make new forms of creatine called creatine esters that i use in with a product called no2 you first off you do not have to cycle or load so it makes it really easy and have noticed a huge difference. I would suggest trying creatine it is a time tested good product for strength but if you are a wrestler and cutting weight stay away from it while you are cutting. hope this helps
 
Read that article I linked to, it has a lot of good info. And apparently there's a lot of crappy creatine out there, so read that to make sure you aren't buying that stuff.
