Cord's Quest

Okay, it is the beginning of a new month, so that means it is measuring day.

Measurements: here are my latest measurements, in clunky table-like form that includes my previous measurements.

-------- 02 April -- 30 April -- 29 May -- 02 July -- 07 Aug -- 03 Sept
Chest: ---- 55 ----- 52 ----- 51 ------- 49 ------- 48 --------47
Waist: ---- 53.5 --- 50 ----- 49.5 ------ 47 ------- 46.5 ----- 45
Hips: ----- 52 ----- 51 ----- 50 -------- 49 ------- 47 ------- 47
Upper Arm: 17 ----- 16 ----- 16 -------- 15 ------- 14.5 ----- 14
Forearm: --13 ----- 13 ----- 12.5 ------- 12.5 ----- 12.5 ----- 12.5
Thigh: -----31 ----- 30 ----- 29 -------- 28 ------- 26 ------- 26.5
Calf: ------20.5 --- 19.5 --- 19.5 ------- 18.5 ----- 18.5 ----- 18.5
Neck: -----17.5 --- 17 ----- 16.5 ------- 16 ------- 15.5 ----- 15.5

Clearly things are slowing down in the size loss department. Not terribly surprised, since August was a rough month and my weight kept yoyo-ing all over the place.
Also, I think the time of relatively rapid fat loss and shrinkage is past, and things will in general go slower now.

Looking at the table makes me wonder if I should even bother tracking my forearm and calf size. They obviously aren't going to change much.

What I don't have right now is an updated weight, and I won't be able to get one until this afternoon. Even then it won't be my "dry" weight, as it will be after a day of eating, drinking and working.
Sometimes I think maybe I should invest in a scale.

This also marks 5 months that I have been on my quest. I'm still doin' it, which makes me pretty happy. Almost as if it really is my lifestyle now.

Cord I wish I could get the salmon you are able to get, your meals with salmon sound so good.

I don't know how you can work the split shifts you do I just don't think I could get used to that.

Cord that is an amazing diffrence from one end of that table to the other congrats.

I wish I would have taken measurements when I started.

Yeah, I take photos next month.

I thought every three months would be needed to see real change.

Maybe I should take monthly shots instead - I don't know.

I'm all discombobulated and out of whack.

I'm sure it is because my regular routine has been disrupted, and I am having trouble adjusting.

Whatever the reason, I'm not exercising as much as I would like.

Yesterday I wanted to walk, and even try running a bit, but the rain came down, and came down, and came down. So before supper I went downstairs and dusted off the dumbbells I haven't used in a while:

Bent-over rows 25lbs 3x10
Lateral raises 20lbs 3x10
Curls 25lbs 3x10
Tricep kickbacks 25lbs 3x10
Seated shoulder press 25lbs 3x10
Floor flat flys 25lbs 3x10 (I really need to get myself a bench, preferably an incline/decline bench, but at this point I'd take a flat bench)
Shrugs 25lbs 3x20
Squat raises 25lbs 3x10 (nice extra workout for the calves)
Chest press 25lbs 3x20

I haven't used dumbbells in quite a while, and now I remember why I used to like them. Even with these relatively light weights, they are hard. You really work all those little stabiliser muscles to move the independent weights.
So, even though it was a piddly little workout, I feel like I got my money's worth out of it.
Have to start using them more often, I think.

This morning I am not alone at work, so I walked a quick 1 3/4 miles already.

With the inches and weight you have been loosing there will be a diff for sure month to month, I say post monthly pics:)

I never knew you had originals are they here in your diary?

I hear ya about your routi9ne being interupted adn such. I took off 5 of my shifts and Im an o/nighter so that is alot, ha ha ha, and itook a break from exercise and meditating...

Hace not yet restarted exercise it has been 2 weeks tomorrow since i exercised...Starting on Monday I will go back to my regular water arobics and my p90x on the days i dont do water areobics. I

I say a naturopath and she gave me supps for stress and is dealing with destressing me and my body first and the big thing she told me was exercise less adn let my body get some rest in , LOL...so im only allowed to exercise 1 hr a day she said and no more than 7 hrs a week and no more doubling up ha ha ha...

Anyway at some point i will post in my diary about it...

This post here is the first one ive made in 2 weeks if not longer...

:D:D:D

Hey Cord sounds like a good dumbbell work-out to me well done.

Sometimes I wish I had a weight set at home too.

Have a great weekend

Funny thing is I have some fitness equipment at home and you know what? I never use it! I always end up at the gym.I think it focuses my mind to be there.

DB's rock out loud. I have a 10 lb and a 25 lb under my desk at work, sometimes while I'm working here overnight I grab one or the other and do some alternate stuff to compliment what I normally do for bigger lifts during the gym sessions. Stuff like forearm curls - I never think to do them when I'm at the gym, but afterwards its like dammit! Should have done some...

Thanks for the comments and compliments recently too. I'm actually starting to feel like I'm moving back on track all the way, and getting into some kind of groove. I think all the support around here has helped!

HiYa Cord,

Looks to me like you're gettin'er done! ;) Lots of hard work here.

Thanks.

It doesn't feel like it - I feel like I've lost it completely. I'm not eating all that well, I'm not getting the workouts I want to.

I wish I could just say that I'm taking a little rest from diet and exercise, but I know I'm just being slothful and gluttonous.

I will do better tomorrow. I will do better tomorrow. I will do better tomorrow.

Hi there. I figured I'd thank you for stopping by and saying what you said and also to tell you that I can definitely see how you've made progress. Even if it's slow, you are still doing well. You should be proud of yourself. :hurray: Hope to see more of you on my diary. I need the motivation :)

I think you're doing Great! I know it's hard to find that within ourselves, especially if we've done better. BUT try not to over exhaust yourself, and don't 4get to congratulate yourself for every lil bit, even if not your best, bcuz it's your BEST RIGHT NOW!! *wrinkles nose* y'know?

AND it matters that you're still going even if having a break means less exercise, having a few more meals that you try to no longer have, because you'll be able to pick up pace again sooner than later unless you push too hard now. Finding that balance is the key.

:hurray:  :hurray:  YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Thnaks, RG. I know I'll get rolling again.

I know I am an unstoppable human steamroller. Really. I just get slowed down sometimes by those big bumps on the road until I can smooth them out.

The summer was a bit rocky, with my weight yin-yanging all over the place, up and down, up and down, but I still came out of the summer 15 pounds lighter than I started it, and that's actually pretty damn good, so I should stop obsessing over it.
To be honest, I hadn't realised until now just how much total weight I had lost over the summer; I had been too focussed on the week-to-week ups and downs to really see the overall down trend.
So I'm going to shut up now. :)

Oh, got a new official weight this morning - 257. I think I am officially in the 250's now.

(Edit: and in two more pounds I will be through the halfway mark!)

Now to get dressed, do some pushups, and go for a walk before it starts raining.

Peace out, fellow babies!

Hello, fellow babies!

I'm back from my workout.

First I did some pushup sets - 21/25/21/21/22 = 110 (1 min rest between sets)

Then I went out for my first ever running session. I did 5 miles, alternating walking/running, equally split. It took 1 hour 3 min.

I thought it went pretty well for a first time. I really didn't think I would be able to keep it up for that long.

Is'nt it so cool when you do something you really think you could not do?

My hats off to you sir well done

do it up cord my man! you are gonna make me workout even harder lol. Next week is a light week, so i'm only running 10 miles. my best 5 mile time is 48 minutes, so just 15 minutes more and with walking! not bad at all. i'm pretty slow though, i realize with as much muscle as i'm putting on, i will never be that fast. so keep it up!
