I have recently been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid, and have been regulated through taking synthroid. In under 3 months I have noticed somewhat of a change in my body (fat reduction as a response to cardio, and an increased ability to gain muscle mass). I have changed my diet slightly (which generally follows the "clean eating" fitness norms) by reducing grainy carbs, and only using fruits and veggies to get carbs after my breakfast oatmeal.
I have been training seriously for about 2 years with the intent to compete, and became so discouraged by my body's inability to change despite all my efforts that I eventually gave up the idea of competing. Now that I have figured out the problem and fixed it, I am getting more optimistic.
I am wondering if anyone has been through this, has a success story to share, or any tips about what worked for them to see results with hypothyroidism, especially at the time of starting medication.
Thanks, and I hope to hear from you soon
