what's this 4weeks BLUES? I was feeling the same way for the past few days but mostly due to my PMS. The PMS nearly caused me to deviate last night. I went to watch Pirates of Caribbean with a girl friend last night. I thought the show will keep me out of PMS and spent some time with frens. After the show we went to a food centre to have late coffee and I saw A BBQ CHICKEN WINGS STALL!!!!!!! Immediately you find me gazing longingly at the food stall. I could not stand it and went straight to the stall. I asked the foodstall vendor if I can order BBQ chicken wings (it was quite late 10+pm!!!) and THANK GOODNESS!!!! He said there was no more BBQ chicken wings, only fried chicken wings. That was not what I craved so I turned away and walked back to my friend.

I must pray and give thanks to God for looking after me and making sure I don't CHEAT on the diet!!!!! I was so ashamed at myself for "nearly" cheating on Cohen that I stayed up late in the night helping my mum to prepare for her buddhist ritual stuffs. Trying to find a punishment for myself and hey, first time I don't punish myself by eating JUNK food!!!! Needless to say, I am dead-tired now.

You know when you are in PMS state, your brain tends to give you an excuse to do things you should not be doing. Reading about other people deviating from cohen is definitely a "no-no" for my PMS-ing mind. I really hope that my menses come quickly so that I am relieve from PMS.

Thanks beebee. Balsamic vinegar and garlic granules have become my new friends.

Welcome devorah. Sorry have to go to work soon and dont have time to answer all you ?'s, but someone will.

Will post more tomorrow, or later tonight. I'm feeling much more positive today.:) Finally!

Good morning ladies,

I thought I would post to let you know I am feeling better today & I did jump on the scales just to see what I have lost but I wont reveal it until Friday (1st official weigh in). My energy is back, my headaches have gone and so are my tears. Does anyone else go through being really emotional and flat as I’m interested to know?

Welcome Karen & Devorah this program will work wonders it just needs a little time to get your body & mind organized. Karen congratulation on the 9kg so far, my consultant said to drink more water if you are getting hungry or the weight hit a plateau but also as DeDe suggested (good words of advise) go walking before you eat.

Devorah I’m not sure about the diet soft drink but sugarfree gum is allowed. It should state how much you can have in your manual. Also I was advised not to do aerobic exercise while on this program (well no for the first 2-3 month anyway) but walking is ok is you don’t push it too much. So yes you should cut back on your aerobic classes but our consultant should go through that with you. To stop thinking about food you need to look at food in a different light. Someone on the forum (sorry can’t remember who) said that we need to eat food to live not live to eat food. I have taken steps to remove food from view, to have no temptations in the house and when I am out I have water with me and also some gum is the smells get too much (hot bread shops are the worst). Thinking about food is part of the detoxification process (doctor told me that) we all need to retrain our bodies and our minds to think about food very differently, its not an easy process but a rewarding one once you have mastered your challenges. Some people also block the time in their day so they are eating very 2.5 hours it might help in the beginning to overcome the food thought process. Pre done mince meat even lean mince meat still contains fat (my fathers a butcher) in my manual in says to mince a lean piece of beef so you know what is in it. You will notice a big difference in your eat habits with this program. There is also a book which I heard (about to read it) is really good to read ‘French women don’t get fat’ the writer a French woman wrote about the French philosophy towards and about food. It is really interesting (watch an interview of the writer), she believes we need to take time to enjoy our food so that we are not consumed by it. I hope these answers help. Good luck message me if you need to talk more.

Have a great day everyone, here's to good health, to anyone stuggling Psalm 31.24 Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart.. my prayers are with you just be strong and hang in there it will pass.

Cheers
Jewls:(

Cheer Up!!!

Reload72, I think the craving is normal... I am only into the 2nd week and I think by the time I reached the stage that you are in, I will surely be like you BUT like you say, you do not want the effort that you have already put in to go down the drain... so you must perserve in what you are doing now... just a few more months to go okie??? past weekend I stayed at home as I am not feeling well and the temption is very huge.. especially when my house are full of temptions... so what i do is play around with my biscuits allowance and fruit allowance... to munch on it whenever I feel the temption crawling into me.. trust me.. it works...
Lets not give this thing up okie?? think of the cost, the effort you have put in and also the pain when you go for the blood test.... Think of something to keep yourself occupied.. like I have started doing jigsaw puzzle and I am planning to do a cross stitch for my best friend's bday... I am sure you will be able to go through this.... Rem I am always here to listen to you...
;)

Jewls- I read you post about you daughter- my heart goes out to her.. as its not that long ago that well- 14 years (gees im old) when i was in the same position as her. I started to put weight on around the end of primary school.. i went to a christian school from 7-10 and Im a pastor's kid.. so my teenage years were full of good friends- and not much bullying cause of my weight. It has although still deeply effected the person that i have become..besides the emotional issues- self acceptance etc.... and one of those symptons is PCOS- no one else in my family has it and i believe that it has everything to do with my hormones... i dont know what advice to give... its hard to explain to an 11 year old what might happened in the future- but defiently as she gets a little older talk to her about her periods- make sure they are regular..watch her mid driff as that is where the weight will start- im sure as a PCOS sufferer you know the symptons to look for.. i wish i went to the doctors along time before now to find out what was wrong- but tackle it head on when you first start noticing any changes.. as it is devasting to get to 25 and find out that you will have diffuculty having children.
I will be praying for her

Blessings

Started Cohen last wednesday 12th july - and to date have lost 5.6 kilos in six days.

ttt Welcome to the club, TT!!!!

I am so happy today. I went to the salon for a complimentary massage. The therapist put me on the digital scale and it shows that my body fat content is FINALLY less than 30%!!!! what's more, with all my clothing strip and wearing only the thin piece of robe, my weight is 69.9 kg!!! Finally reached 6 series!!!

Then again, if I am able to go to the toilet, I will probably weigh even lesser. I have been constipated for two days and my stomach is really bloated!!! Even my mum's slimming tea is not working at all. It only gives me stomachache but no help in removing the waste!

Cravings..

Man, I have them. My husband has been quite good so far... until last night. He said he couldn't take it anymore (He's been kinda "good" too). He went and found chocolates, chips and lollies at the shop. I bought an apple and a scratchie. Man it was soooo hard. I can't wait until I'm finished!! And my friends almost have. I worked out that I'll proberly finish the start of November. That made me a little depressed at first. So I got my sister to take a photo of me and I printed next to my before cohen's photo. Man I've changed. It's my birthday tomorrow and I don't know what to do. I'm going to make a cohen cheese cake for myself, Maybe go to the movies with Hubby at night. We always go out for tea, but... well I don't want to be on cohen's longer than I need too. Soon I have to go out for lunch for the first time. I'll just guess my weights, it will be fine.
Well all the best to everyone!
Mitmary:)

hey guys
9 days in and i'm feeling pretty happy, i haven't deviated once.
i was wondering how much a small deviation sets people back?
also, where can i get the recipe for cohen's cheesecake?
thanks

good evening ladies

Thanks heaps and take care. We are all in God's hands.

Have a great evening everyone. Drink lots of water and hug your kids really tight if you have them as they are very precious:eek:

:) H-oodia diet pills kills the appetite and attacks obesity, is organic with no synthetic or artificial appetite control agents, has no known side effects, contains a miracle molecule (up to 100,000 times more powerful than glucose) that fools the brain into believing you are full, and even stops you from thinking about food. But it actually does MORE..........:(

This fellow is spamming TOO MUCH. Can the moderator of this forum do something? He or She is getting irritating.

karenk

hello everyone!
well another day down approaching 4 weeks on saturday.
what is the general amount of water most people drink i am trying to down about 3 to 4 litres or is this too much?
Also can anyone help me with info on how their skin is going ( and i mean going) i have a large wobbly belly that does drape somewhat and would like to know if it will shrink with me!! Its my biggest worry.
looking forward to any replies...

9kg down 31 to go

jewls I really feel for you. It's devastating when things arent right with your children. Hoping the lump is just a boil or cyst.

prayers

jewls just want to let you know that both you and your daughter are both in my prayers. I hope that any news you recieve is a comfort to you. Stay positive.
karenk I drink 4 litres of water every day. My consultant told me that as a general rule of thumb, you should drink 1 litre of water for every 25kg you weigh. So if you are at about 100kg, 4 litres is how much you should have each day. As for baggy skin, I have lost 30kg so far and don't have any baggy skin...hope that helps!

Going great guns

HOwdy all. I have actually gone really well today and I am maintaining a gd routinre apart from sleeping til 11am. I have struggled with the water and last cple days has been down to a 1ltr or less. Trying to get the 1.5lt bottle put away before i go to bed. My biggest concern is that i am constipated and havent been for 4 days now. I have been taking psyllium husk drinks 2-3 times a day and sennekot tablets. I just hope i get to go before weigh in tomorrow! I know i will have a drop of more then a kg with this so i wld welcome a quick result!! Any other ideas????? MM i get scared to eat and drink before the weigh in- is this normal?? I have breakfast really early and get this out of the way so i dont have this big weight difference.

Karenk: no worries. I think we all need the info to get started and if i helped, then i did something gd for the day. I am allowed 5 pieces of sugar free gum but i am not one to chew this stuff. Occ i will go thru a packet but rarely and it takes me a few days to do so. U can drink diet soft drink but it does state in ur handbook. I hate water and struggling at the mo but i usually get about 3lt in- just short of the four i should be. This is prob slowing my loss down but its winter and i just have to keep trying. I deviated on 2 occasions: one bread roll and then a small cook up in my 1st wk so i dont really know if it affected my loss. Prob. No deviation is best: i havent since and dont see myself doing such.

Jewls: I hope u can get this sorted out and will be smthing of minor origins. It will just be gd to know what it is and that it can be treated accordingly. It cld be a lymoh node or a gland which are blocked or swollen, fat deposit or others. Hard to do but try not to focus on it too much and deal with it when u see the doctor. Ur mind races and many different ideas and visions flash by but are not productive for either ur daughter or urself. Think positive and keep head high.

Hope others are keeping their end of this bargain??? U signed up for this program and i can only see one person who can finish it-ourselves!!!! yes there is temptation but we need to understand that is a fact of life and that we need to accomodate this. Dont break but do a 180 deg turn and walk away. I get 'flutters' of mm that wld be nice but i have trained my mind to immediately dispel that thought from my head and its gone. Ive never had a focus on food or comfort ate so maybe i have this advantage?? But U have to do it!

Dee ( i want to get to 85kg tomoz at weigh in!)

hey all! i dont post very much as i have problems logging in, its SO frustrating, but i do keep up with all your posts..its the stuff that keeps me going!

On another note, today marks my first week on Cohens diet, havnt weighed myself yet, trying to hold out till my first weigh-in. Teehee.. :D But yea, just popping in to see how you guys are going. So far, so good eh!

Hi guys. Thanks jewls for your help. It was great to get some feedback so quickly! What do you think about the mince - should I chuck it?!

It's funny about the food thinking business. I think I will always be thinking food, whether I am on Cohen's or am being my usual bulimic self - wait! rephrase that - my bulimia is a thing of the past and I had better get that straight! Nevertheless, it is HOW I think of food which is the issue, and I think this diet will allow me to put that into perspective. For example, 2 weeks ago I was still eating peanut butter out of the jar. Because I felt so uncontrollable around food, I proved it by overeating everything and eating without regards to fullness or satisfaction. But now i know I can only have 100 grams of meat and 70 grams of vegetables, and my entire thinking is focused on how I will make that very meal as enjoyable as possible. It is somewhat controlling, but in a way it allows me to think of other things, because when I finish my meal I look forward to my next one, and that allows me to fill up my time so that the next meal will be a new and exciting process.

I hope to G-d that this new feeling of serenity and fulfillment I am feeling stays with me forever. It is feelings like this that make me look forward to tomorrow.

how do you guys drink the psyllium husks? I have to mix it with my diet coke or pepsi 'coz there is a wheaty smell. I drank it 1st time yesterday afternoon and I finally get to remove the dump. Today I am finally officially 69.9kg (with weigh-in clothes on). YEAH!!!

Dede: have you tried the Senokot MAX strength tablets?
treatments-senokot-max-strength.jpg

You also need to drink more water for the psyllium husk to work its magic.

devorah I am so glad that you are putting food in a new perspective. I was like you too. I ate when I was upset and I ate too when I was happy. When I was in that mood, I don't care what kind of food was in front of me. I just wanted to put it in my mouth. I hope that when I finally finished cohen, food is forever imprint in my lifestyle as something that will give me energy to live and not an emotional dependant.

hullo all, just want to thank you for the welcome and I look forward to posting news as I start on this new journey.

I must say again that it is very helpful to read your comments and stories.

Best of wishes to all who are on the journey as well.

Deviations, mince, soft drink and spammers

In my handbook, it says i can only have caffeine free diet soft drink. Up to a litre a day.

If you notice spammers, you can report them - i've done it a few times. Also, I have been adding positives to people's reputations!!!

On deviations, I have deviated once or twice, and made the consicious decision to do so - wedding, a hens day etc. Just a word of warning, it does make it harder to get back into the cohen's way though. ie you feel hungrier and more suscpetible to cravings. I haven't given into those feelings, but it does make it harder!!

Mince - my consultant told me that i could have heart smart mince (ie coles)

Hope that helps.
