Hi ALL. Thanks for all the interesting posts. Welcome to all the newies.
There has been some discussion recenlty about diet soft drinks. I can not quote where I got this information because I have forgotten but it did make sense. While diet drinks do not contain sugar the brain can not distinguish the difference between sugar and artificaial sweetners and it sends the same messages to the body. I understand that the organs respond differently because its not real sugar but the brains reaction might be a contributing reason as to why so many are having sugar cravings. If anyone has a medical background maybe you can help here. Meanwhile it may help those with sugar cravings to stay of the artificial sweetners and see if it makes a difference. I dont drink them, I use to be the person that could taste the difference between states when I drank "real" coke (which was about the only thing I use to drink) I can not drink diet anything the taste of chemicals is overpowering. There have been many studies that conclude these chemicals maybe harmful to your health, SO water it is, also found a green tea called white tea jasmin flavoured it is really nice.
The Old Me: Lots of positive vibes to you. Thanks for the link it was very interesting. I have subscribed.
Arowan: Can you have oats or museli on refeed. If you have had them has the reaction been the same as bread.
BabyeggThe first three days were the worst for me but after that my body started to sort itself out ( but I used no artificial sweetners) I have not eaten out in five weeks ( if not on the programme would have had atleast 20 meals out) as I do not feel I can do this without deviating. I am working up to it. Congratulations on your food and drink choices, it was a tought way to start.
DeDe23You may want to try spreading your fruit out over the day so you dont spike your blood sugar levels. Maybe cut you orange into 6 pieces and have it over two hours, this may help even out the highs and lows.I dont live alone but do not do mornings well. I found breakfast on Cohens the most challenging meal. What i did to overcome it was hard boil three eggs at a time and put them in the fridge. I would then have tomatoe as my vegetable and one cracker. This was very quick. I have since put more effort in and have more interesting things ( if you can call whiting and brussel sprouts for breakfast interesting) The key is to be organized in advance. Maybe take water vitamins and cracker to your bedside and start with that. As for rushing out the house. I have water apples, tuna pouches (safcol) vittaweats and a vegtable peeler can opener fork and sharp knife in the car, All I need to do is source a cuecumber and I have a meal. in case a cuecumber is too difficult I have a can of mushrooms and a can of asparagus in there as well.I dont go anywhere without Cohen food. My instructor told me at our first meeting One mistake equalls one week so I have no intentions of wastinmg 21 meals of effort for a deviation.
She Bear: Congratulations on the double figures.
Less of Me:Fantastic loss, thanks for the monthly breakdown it was very intersting. How many dress sizes have you come down? Thanks for the smiley instruction i was using quick reply.
Magic Lea: WOW 20kg in 6 weeks that is HUGE. I agree with your nurse friend about the health issues re the diet drinks.
L-JayVERY happy that you are back on track and have found your attitude to food becomming more 'normal'. Thanks for the description of your reaction, a good reminder. Glad your back though. I have found it liberating that FINALLY I have the tools available to me to take charge of my weight, this has given me a sense of peace and normality.I am interested to know if you had such a deviation the first time you did the programme. I checked out the competition on the other thread. I dont think my computer skills can cut it. Also having trouble with all the abbreviations. Good Luck Monday let me know how you go.
Reload72 Good Luck for Monday hope you get the double figures. Great effort.
Mumbine: Hope you are feelimg better. I have found the breaking down your day into two and a half hour blocks very helpful. Keep your crackers and fruit to have between meals and have 2 bottles of water between each meal and after dinner. I have found green tea keeps me calm. I dont have suggestions for the gas. Maybe try apples they work for me.
Good night all. Hope we all have a good week.
