Club starting Wed Sept 7...

I never had a C-section. I had both of my children naturally. I had bad fibroids, but the major reason for the hysterectomy was for varicose veins on and around my uterus. The veins were as big around as a my doctors middle finger. They were starting to pool blood and clot up. Very easily could have ripped and I would have bled to death (wouldn't have known cuz I was bleeding all the time) or....a clot could have broke free and caused a stroke or heart attack. Very scary for someone who is only 26!

wow, I never knew these things could happen to us. I hope we all get healthier and wiser with this lifetime experience. I am glad I met everryone on this forum and have gained alot of friends and knowledge!
I hope EVERYONE is doing well, and each and everyone of us hit that goal when this is over.

Your body requires eight, 8 ounce glasses of water each day. Water facilitates weight loss and helps you stay healthy and regular, even when you are on a diet. If your water does not taste good to you, add a slice of lemon to each glassful.

Remember that drinking eight 8-ounce glasses of water each day is as important to weight maintenance as it is to weight loss. Don't make the mistake of thinking that by cutting back on water intake, you will prevent water retention! The opposite effect will take place. By drinking more water your kidneys will be stimulated, helping to reduce water retention; and, in the process, your body will burn some more calories. Always drink water in place of "diet" beverages - there is no caffeine in water -and it is calorie free! Avoid artificially sweetened beverages of all types. If we can persuade you to give up diet drinks, this could lead you to a world appreciating sweetness while satisfying your palate and, in a matter of just one or two weeks, natural food will begin to taste unbelievably sweet, and it will be much easier for you to stick with your diet. Diet drinks (and artificially sweetened desserts) just turn on your appetite "on" without satisfying it, possibly leading you to overeat at other times. When you need a drink, try water! If you crave something sweet, have a drink of water.

Substitution of fruit for snacks and desserts is helpful. Other dense-calorie foods that are high in fatty acid sugar should be restricted. Nibble on fruit all day long, not just grapefruit, like so many do. Remember almost all fruit is "safe" for dieters. Keep fruits in plain sight on the counter or on the table. Make a very attractive selection of grapes (two kinds), oranges, tasty crisp Granny Smith, York or other apples; peaches that have just come in season; bananas, kiwis, papaws, cantaloupe, and the old standby -- grapefruit. Make it a practice to eat fruit, including dried fruits of all kinds, for desserts, in place of pies, cakes, and cookies. Then we will have truly taken another big step in controlling our weight.

The food processors who manufacture diet foods are capitalizing on our preference for snack foods, and they may have us "hooked". Think about it. Somebody "out there" is making a fortune feeding us artificially sweetened junk with no nutritional value, and we are gulping it down and getting our fill while getting addicted and becoming overweight. Cutting out the use of all artificial sweeteners can be difficult, but if you are serious about losing those pounds, we know you can do it!

Plain old water, with zero caffeine and calories, can really help you shed those unwanted pounds and keep them off! Sometimes the most help comes from the simplest sources, doesn't it?

Good old george... he's visited most of us end of last week into the beggining of this week. For some reason we are all almost on the same monthly scedule!

hey, i think tom would be a better name. get it? (time of the month?)

hey christina, an easier way to remember how much water to drink is half your body weight in ounces. example: if you weigh 200 pounds, you need a 100 ounces of water a day.

TOM's a good one WW!

Dumb old Tom.... He always shows up when he's not invited, or unexpectedly, and ruins everything! LOL

Christina, your message may be the most compelling I've seen to date to switch water for other drinks. Thanks for the info. I've also heard women attest that drinking water helps them to lose weight and not retain water.

I just read the 8x8 popularity may have started when the National Research Council recommended approximately "1 milliliter of water for each calorie of food," which would amount to roughly two to two-and-a-half quarts per day (64 to 80 ounces - or 8 to 10 glasses). There are 30 ml in an oz, so that's based on a diet of 1920-2400 cal/day.

In its next sentence, the Board stated "most of this quantity is contained in prepared foods," but that last sentence seems to have been missed by many.

I have heard that the fluid contained in your food (especially fruits and veggies) can be counted in your daily intake. I also read you have to consider whether you live a sedentary or active lifestyle, live in a temperate or hot climate, have health issues (kidney stones), perform strenuous physical activity or take long airplane flights.

Personally, though it is colder in winter, it is also very low humidity here and my skin gets so dry it cracks if I don't drink plenty of water.

I get thirsty, dry skin, and bloated sometimes - so I know I need to drink more water each day. I think I may start with drinking water before I eat lunch or dinner.

Wow, intresting water facts!
I try to drink water with all my meals.
I've also heard drinking b4 you eat will fill you up more and you will end up eating less!
Making sure it is ice cold water to make you body work harder at passing it through and all that good stuff.
Yesterday it was hard for me getting that water down. then I rememberd I would drink it b4 out of a big bottle with a big straw, this made it so much easier for some reason.. I think big gulps gag me and turn me off of water...
OH and try to drink it with in 30 min, to make your body work it off more....

i always put my 16. something ounce bottles of water in the freezer and get them ice cold. its much tastier to me and easier to drink plus it burns calories faster the colder it is. sometimes i forget and leave them and then the bottle is frozen solid, but thats okay i just defrost it til its ready. i just rotate bottles like this all day in and out of the freezer. :)
i still drink coffee and green tea and almost no diet coke unless its a weekend and im having a delicious alcoholic beverage. yum!

same here, stay away from sodas, at least try to! Evil little drink it is.... evil evil evil.... too bad bubbles taste so good!

Ok, so heres a section from my diary, dont want to repeat it all......

SO, today is the end of the 2 wks boot camp. I'm sick to my stomache upset about it!! In the coure of the 2 wks, I lost 2 pds twice and gained them back!! Last night even, I realized I had lost 2 pds. Then, my hubby comes home from work with TONS of junk. doughnuts, cookies, chips and dip, candy bars, on and on. I was sooo mad!! I can't believe he'd do that to me! SOOOO I gained back one of the two pounds. SO, I can report a one pound loss. Big deal! I'm just totally discusted with myself!! I'm talking, really totally sick about it!

Thats enough about me...how did you all do??

weigh in

Hey new bride, any loss is great. good job w/ the 1 lb. You will probably see tomorrow that that other pound will be gone. When you eat a lot at night you will weigh in heavier than you actually are first thing in the morning. you are probably retaining water from the sodium. Anyway, I think you did great. 5 lbs in two week is a tough goal.

Christina congratulations on your two pounds. and I am happy to hear that your hips are better. Thanks for the encouragement and pat on the back.

Well w/ all of that exercise and being good for the majority of the time, I only lost 3 lbs. I am at 161.2. but I am happy to have lost anything. a loss is a whole lot better than a gain!

Good job everyone

I was horrible, with my birthday and all. 2 lb gain for me and I completely deserved it. For more info go to my diary lol there's a nice long post there. Ugh

Great job though girls! I'm glad to hear that you guys can report a loss of any kind. :) Even though we haven't reached our goals, we have succeeded (well you guys have lol). Any loss is a step in the right direction! :) Keep it up girls!

I too did not make the 5lb goal but I did lose 3 lbs. And I will take it! Any loss is an accomplishment for all of us. So some of us didn't make 5lbs. I agree with Julie... 1 lb is great! Don't give up! Today is a new start for a new goal so lets stay positive and continue to move forward!

Have a great day everyone!!

oooh, I know I weighed in at 2 pounds lighter, but darn do my pants feel tighter! maybe I left them in the dryer too long! LOL

well, ok, so lets start another 5 pd club. need some input, you wanna start it tommorrow, or wait till monday, since its the normal weigh in day for most. Do you want to keep the same groups? Or should we start allover with new threads and everything?

I started at 143, and this morning was 140.5... so 2.5 lbs... not so bad, but I too know that I could have done better if I had better focus... I'd really like to do it again also, but my schedule is so busy that I haven't had much time to cheer everyone else on... sorry ladies!
