closing off eating for the day

ive been trying to diet for some time now, but i run into a constant problem each and everyday, i eat crappy (yet sometimes tasty) healthy foods...and i at around 6 when im supposed to have just had my last meal and be done eating for the day but i catch a glimpse of some sweet unhealthy foods and cant stop thinking about eating them and soon enough im stuffing my face...for anyone out there whos dieting, do you have any tips on how to eat your last meal of the day and close it off without the temptation to eat?

its pure will power man...once a week its alright to allow yourself a little cheat too..but dont get too carried away...drink lots and lots of water thatll help get rid of cravings. and you can make protein drinks taste pretty sweet too that helps me.

deffintly speaks the truth, after a nice run drinking a protein shake is the best part of my day. Dude I was just like you except i smoked marijuana so the cravings were mentally IMPOSSIBLE to stop but now that its been 3 weeks smokeless i lost 7 pounds. Stick to It once you see a little bit of results that should fuel ur mind to keep going because you will like what you are seeing. Dont give up

What constitutes crappy healthy foods? Are you getting enough protein? I find that sometimes I get weird cravings for bad foods when I don't incorporate enough protein or if I've eaten sugar that day. Sugar seems to make me want to eat more sugar.

Also, can you make it so that you don't have those tempting foods in your house to begin with? If you do have to have them in the house, put them inside of a couple of containers and put the containers in a room that you don't use often. If you do get the urge and go into the containers, as you're opening them, remind yourself to remind yourself that you really don't want to be doing that thing. A friend of mine does this and it makes a big difference. Certain times of the month, she has to put her off-limits food in her car because she knows that in the cold weather, she won't want to get dressed and go to the street to get something to eat. She says her laziness trumps her cravings. :)

Also, sometimes it just helps to find something to do with your time. I don't have a weight loss problem, but in down time, my vice is that I worry: I tend to worry about particular things--like a relative of mine who will be leaving with the Army for Iraq in August. I find that when I want to do a thing that I know that I shouldn't do, it helps to fill my time completely with something else. So when I catch myself worrying, I push myself--sometimes hard--to do some unrelated other thing. Whatever it takes to get yourself away from a bad habit into a hopefully more productive one. Just make yourself do something that's not the thing or related to the thing that you're trying to avoid.

When I pulled away from junk food, sugarfree gum saved my life. I also used to have late night snacks, huge sweet tooth. Try chewing gum, may curve that hunger.

Also you may not be eating correctly, do you get enough fiber and protein? If you are eating right durring the day you should not be getting hungry after your last meal. Could just be a mental thing rather than your body actually wanting food, so drink water and chew gum.

Also you dont have to have your last meal at six... Push it back some or have a small healthy snack around 8.
