or The Trials and Tribulations of a Middle-Aged American Woman Fighting Fat in the 21st Century.

I visited this weight loss forum for the first time about one week ago and with steely determination (and one eye closed), revealed my current weight and vowed to improve my eating habits, my health, my overall well-being and self esteem. One week and a dozen cookies later I return, head hung low, great white gut cascading over my waistband.

Ahh, Monday, shining beacon amid the Sunday evening fog of my gluttonous soul, offering a new beginning with no memory of the blunders of the week before. Monday shall bring apples and yogurt, salad and carrots, and a diary to document it all.

Monday, March 6

Oatmeal w/cherries & almonds
Sweet & Sour Tempeh
Cereal - 2 bowls
Pasta w/sauce and turkey sausage
Beer

Up and Down

I have not been recording my daily diet as I promised myself I would. But I will. By the way, to add an entry I am using the 'reply' button - is that what I should do?

Last week I got a shock when I stepped on the scale - was up 4.5 pounds?! I weighed myself in the morning - in my birthday suit - with the scale placed in the same place as usual. I have NEVER gained that much weight so rapidly before. It was not due to my cycle or any extreme eating. Funny, I usually only weight myself once a month so I don't obsess about my weight, but since signing up here, decided to weigh in once a week. It was a bit disheartening, but will now just need to lose 24.5 lbs. instead of 20.
