Hey guys, I came here a few months back but i cant find my old diary so i decided to make a new one :D

Anyways. I weigh 201 pounds right now. Im 15 years old, and 5'7.

My goal is to lose 50 pounds :)

its pretty hard to lose weight when your italian because of all the eating and such.

So, basically, I took pasta out of my diet because, its probably the main reason how i ended up 50 lbs overweight. I used to eat it almost every day and lots of it.

Hi Chris :)

Welcome back and good for you for starting a new diary!

You can't change the fact that you're Italian and will probably always be surrounded by "all the eating and such" I think it goes with the territory!

What you can do is definitely learn portion control and to eat the foods you love but in healthier amounts!

Good luck on your journey!

Thanks :D I just cut out pasta from my diet entirely. I feel ive had too much. I can let it go =) How long do you guys think it will take for me to lose 50 pounds? Im going to start running on my treadmill tommorow to get some good exercise in, and keep at it.

I was doing well before, I actually lost 10 pounds. then my friend came over one night, we ate a bunch of junk, and i stopped my diet :( I wouldve reached my goal by now. Oh well, tommorows a new day :D

Looking back only helps to see what you need to do differently this time.

As for how long it takes - everyone is different. One to two pounds a week is considered a healthy weight loss, sometimes you might lose a bit more, sometimes less - it's the slow steady downward progression that matters. Along the way, you'll learn better eating habits that will help keep it off once it's gone.

I hope so! :D God I wish I was a lot healthier. I think im going to join a hockey league next year. I want to get back into being fit. :)

Sounds like great motivation. Good idea cutting out the pasta, that's one of my weaknesses too. I heart pasta! :D

Portion control is seldom taught in an Italian home, I know first-handed believe me ;)

At 15, I doubt you need to give up much of any food group as much as it comes down to controlling how much you eat and add some get off the couch and pc time by replacing it with exercise.

I ate penne the other night with no fear of gaining weight. I just cooked 1/5th of a pound (always cook in course salt to draw out as much starch as possible) then heated up the skillet with EVO and garlic and tossed in the penne, sprinked in some parm and oregano - maybe 300+ cals.

Once you get use to eating controlled portions it's not so bad but if you can't control pasta by all means leave it alone however who's to say you won't overeat something else ?? Don't blame the food if the mind is the problem, Capice ??

Don't blame the food if the mind is the problem

T's right - youre 15 if you don't learn portion control now you may back slide later. Trust me thats one of my biggest problems, I'm 26 and just now learning what a normal serving of food is.
