so ive been trying to lose weight for as long i can remember. i have lost a bit on occasion but always put it right back on. i try crazy fad diets which is the reason i always go right back up when i go off them.

another reason is i binge eat. i eat something during the day which i know i shouldnt, and then my mind basically tells me that ive screwed up for the day so i might as well make the most of it and start a fresh the next day.

so thats lead me to where i am today...

178 pounds and 32% body fat

im 178cm so my aim is to get to my goal of 143 (65kg) by december.

to do this i have started lite n easy. i am on the 1200 calorie plan. i also want to go to the gym 4 times during the week and in general just walk a lot more.

i feel that by writing down my progress it will help me to be more accountable and hopefully i will be able to get to my goal.

i am so determined to do this. i can do this.

1200 calories is too little for you. If you've been on the diet yo-yo in the past and if binging is an issue, starting out at 1200 calories is most likely going to cause you to give up again.

At 178 lbs, you should be eating around 1700-1800 calories a day. But it's not just calories - you MUST make sure that you're eating healthy calories. You need to focus your eating on veggies and fruits, lean protein, complex carbs, and healthy fats.

Cutting your calories back too far, especially if binging is an issue, is going to cause you to be really hungry and will probably trigger a binge at some point. Eating enough to be satisfied and healthy will help with the binge mindset.

Good luck to you! :)

thanks for that. i totally see all the points you made.

the calories i am eating are healthy. im on lite n easy. which is basically the same as jenny craig. so i know im eating enough nutrients. and it all tastes really good. better than what i make when i prepare something healthy and obviously so much easier too.

and with the 1200 thing, thats my aim. but unlike before when i made the effort not to eat a calorie above it, im going to be more relaxed this time. like today, i followed my 1200 plan but was a bit hungry at a couple of different times so i had a banana or dry weetbix (which i really like). and im fine with that. i dont want to be starving, so ive decided that if im really hungry and my next meal is a little while off, im just going to eat something extra. but a healthy extra.. and get it into my head that this is not a bad thing!

so in the 2 days since ive started ive eaten well (from now on eating well isnt classified as sticking to exactly 1200 calories.. its following my plan and eating healthy options only if i am really hungry). i also went to the gym both yesterday and today.

early days obviously..! but feeling good about this. being relaxed about it all is the way to go for me. i need to chill out and not focus on numbers, but rather listen to my body and take it easy!

Congratulations on taking the first step in getting to your weight loss goal. I too am on the light n easy program and have lost 3 kilo's in 2 weeks. I am on 1200 calories and have 20 kg to lose (make that 17 kg now). The food has been great and I only tend to feel hungry when I have not spread out my meals and snacks through out the day. Make sure you drink heaps of water as I find that helps fight off hunger. I have not started exercising yet as I have read that your body needs a minimum of 1200 calories after exercise has been taken into account other wise your body goes into starvation mode. Dont know how true this is but I thought I will hold off on anything more strenuous than a few walks each week till I start to plateau. Good luck with your weight loss journey. I look forward to hearing your progress.
