change of training time.

i have started training first thing in the morning on an empty stomach doing 20 minutes cardio then having a carb drink then doing my weights. training first thing in the morning even though i have no food inside me i seem to have more energy and enthusiasm than i do at night. any body got any thoughts on wether this is a good idea or not.

I work out in the morning, however I seem to have better workouts in the evenings, personally. I think you should just go when you have the most energy and enthusiasm, and like you said that's in the morning. I read once that working out in the morning on an empty stomach is prime for burning fat, however I'm not an expert at all. If I work out in the morning I normally have a protein shack, wait about 30 mins then go to the gym.

Typical philosophy is to do your heavy lifting first, THEN do cardio. That might be your problem, as well as lack of nutrition.

Experts say you should NEVER exercise in a fasted state, cardio or weights. all you do is increase muscle catabolism because you're starving first thing in the morning.
and you want a carb drink AFTER lifting weights, not before.
and do cardio AFTER weights, never before. and ideally, don't even do them on the same day.
