Cate's Diary

My chiropractor has a salesman's personality, but he's never tried to force anything on me. And he's pretty good at fixing my pinched nerve when I get it. Luckily it's been a long time since that happened, cuz fixing it reminds me of spy movies when the good guy kills with a twist of the neck, complete with the crunchy sound effect.

YEP. It sure does!
I think my body should be treated a bit kinder. The massage therapist I go to is very good. It's a deep strong massage & I feel a million dollars afterwards. L has just had a special cabin added at the back of her house. It is a lovely space & built to purpose. She is from Thailand originally & is Buddhist. Her massage is not namby-pamby by any means, but I went away feeling quite blissed out. I'm going to treat myself to one a month after my next fortnight's visit. I think I'll postpone the next chiropractor's ap't until after my next massage & see if I think I still need it then.
Weight this morning X+8, after 2 FD's. I think my body is telling me I need to stick with 5:2, not 6:1 (or 7:0) :)

I feel so much better today it is ridiculous! :D I actually sprang out of bed!
It's Spring!!!!
Sorry, I know it's the opposite to most WLF members, but many of you are happy about that. I really, really dislike Winter. (I don't ever like to use the word hate.)
It is a beautiful, sunny day, with barely a cloud in the sky. Black cockatoos flew over the house a little while ago, which means there is some rough weather on the way, but, right now, it's lovely. G & I will do some gardening today & a little wood gathering(maybe).
I have some editing to do on our golf club web-site. I'm teaching myself how to do it but had to ask for help yesterday. I have an email, with instructions waiting for me......
Better skedaddle, xoxo Cate

Australia gets weather cockatoos? Black means rain, does yellow mean sunshine? Speckled for hail? All America gets is the Weather Channel website so laden with clickbait and popup ads you can't ever actually find out what the weather is.

Hi Cate. I find myself leaning towards the same kinds of food on your plate. Lots of veggies, a little cheese. It all looks delicious. I am a guy that can eat the same food day in and day out. For instance, for lunch for the last 6 months ( lol) I have eaten cucumbers, grape tomatoes, and some cheese. I just recently added celery and peanut butter ( sounds gross but it is actually quite tasty and low in carbs).

LJ- You actually just made me laugh out loud! The Black Cockatoos are mountain birds, that come down from the mountains (Cradle Mountain probably) when the weather cuts up rough. They make a hell of a racket. I have a video somewhere of a big flock of them in the bush up above our house. The noise was deafening. You are very funny!
Cowboy- I can eat the same food day in/day out too. This would be our favourite lunch. Usually, we have some raw carrots as well & a little home-made hummus. The dolmades are a new addition. I prefer hot salami to ham, but only have 2 small slices, cut into small cracker-sized pieces.

We're off to "town" today (ie the big smoke) as G has an appointment with a physio for pelvic floor exercises. (I have to admit to finding some humour in that. I never said I was perfect :smilielol5:) I think it will be very important for us both to find humour wherever we can in the near future. I won't share any gory details with you, I promise.
We'll have lunch beforehand & call in to see one of our nephews. He works for a company that sells & services homecare aids, like rollators, recliner chairs etc. His mother, G's sister said he would try to sell Mum's chair for me, but I want to call in 1st & ask him as I know what is Mum can be like. She's a very forceful woman & I want to double-check that he is ok with that.
I think we'll head soon, xoxo

Pelvic floor exercises should be obligatory in high school. Quite apart from the fact that people should generally know their body and it improves sex (for a lot of people) it helps prevent lower back pain, improves balance and needs to be started early if you want it to prevent the bladder from sagging. Which is often the reason why old ladies get continence problems, but by then it´s usually too late to solve it by anything but surgery. I go off the rails every time I see an add featuring a young, healthy person (male OR female) telling us they don´t think it´s a big deal to be incontinent: YES IT BLOODY WELL IS. I work with geriatric patients, most of them around 90, and nothing influences their well-being and feeling of self-worth more (on average) than having to wear diapers.

Sorry to hijack your diary.

Ha- you're just getting payback for me going off in a tangent in your diary!
Just kidding. :D
I can see that re incontinence. Just reading about what may happen & being told by the physio today will have G doing his pelvic floor exercises diligently. I agree with you (again :) ) that they should be obligatory in high school. I think being incontinent would be WAY worse than being impotent. I have laughed a lot reading his notes since we got home. I should have gone in with him after all. I thought I was allowing him more privacy, but the physio said that she thought I would be with him & I can see that it would have been a good idea. There are so many things he did not ask about, but which he does want to know. I'll have to do some research online I can see. There were all sorts of things suggested that G has no idea about. It's important to us both to maintain our close relationship, so homework required fast.
Anyhow....
Traffic was crazy today & we couldn't wait to get home to our rural paradise. I would hate to live in a city again.
Caught up with our nephew & I was right about his mother making statements on his behalf. We got that sorted.
I'm tired today. I must admit it can all get a bit too much sometimes, but we'll get through this.
Love to all, xoxo

I am rural too Cate. Rancho del Brawny is 7 lovely wooded acres about 12 miles from a city of about 30,000. I have had a couple of job offers that would be more money to move to the Dallas area....nope

It sounds nice brawny.
We live 11km from a lovely small town (population 2,250), where we are able to do most things (doctor, supermarket, library, golf club, hardware store etc). It's a pretty little town & is a "feeder" town for lots of small communities dotted all around it. It's fairly quiet but has most things you need.
We are in between 2 cities- 60km from "town" (pop 74,000) where we go for most appointments & bigger shopping, especially clothes etc & 40km from the other small city, which is by the sea (25,000) where our dentist is, blood bank & decent clothes stores etc. It's never chaotic & you can always get a park.
When we get home it's like being in another world. I really don't know how we lived in Melbourne(4 million!) for 15 years. I am sitting in our lounge, looking out at the mountains & the only sound is birdsong & our little dog lightly snoring, G turning the pages of the newspaper & me clacking away on the keyboard!

Now I´m jealous... I´m a country girl, born and raised, but I live in the city because that´s where my friends are. I miss being out in the country every day but I also know that moving out into a village/small town, especially alone, would be a social death sentence.

I love small towns. I grew up in a small town that only has a few thousand people. Chef grew up in a bigger city though, so he had a bit of culture shock moving here. I'll never forget the first time he walked out into the high grassy area that was behind my old house and grasshoppers and bugs went flying everywhere. He stood there in shock, mortified by all the bugs. I laughed so hard. He's definitely a city boy. hahaha!

The "town" in which we live is technically a town, but in actuality is an area comprising lots of farms, 10 acre blocks, 50 acre hobby farms, dotted all over & off roads leading from the highway & a bakery,a service station, a fire station, a cheese factory, a raspberry farm/cafe all spread along the "highway". The highway is one lane each way & the term highway is a bit of a stretch. It's not really a town! :D It's close to everything you need, but isolated away from everybody. It may not suit when we're older, but for now, it's heaven.

I have been waking up quite anxious & think I need to get really active again to save my sanity. I really want this op done & dusted. The specialist listed it as semi-urgent, instead of urgent, which, in one way is good, but means we'll have to wait longer.
After reading LaMa's new diary this morning I think I'll have to look up histamine in food. I get lots of cramps, even though I take magnesium morning & night & rub magnesium oil into my feet each night. I also itch a lot at night. I already take 2 lots of anti-histamines & apparently this season is going to be a doozy. :svengo: It already is. Hayfever I can cope with. It's inconvenient & annoying. Anxiety sucks!

I will play golf this Wednesday. I really, really need to get back into it!

Taking more antihistamines doesn´t help when you eat more than your body can break down. On the other hand: "cramps" is really a bad description for what I get, I just don´t know what else to call it. It feels like suddenly getting major inflammation in my tendons. On the other, other hand: eating less histamine in hayfever times can reduce symptoms for some people.

I am lucky. I don't have much allergy histamine issues. Just a little when I mow and no food allergies that I know of. I am allergic to small portions lol
