Cardio for the off days...

I can only go to the gym 3 days a week because of my schedule and vehicle situation. The rest of the time I would like to work in a decent cardio routine, but don't have a whole lot of options that I can think of. I have a treadmill, but it SUCKS! It's no where near big enough for me, and my regular stride is longer than the belt. So I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas for a good off-day cardio workout that doesn't involve any equipment.

warm jumper, gloves and hat and get running outdoors.

i like to go to my local football pitch and do hiit sprints across the length of it (100 or so yards). throw in some plyos and finish with a couple of laps.

yes i may look like a bit of an idiot running up and down a muddy pitch and i know anyone who sees me is thinking "rocky-wannabe" but at least i know i can out run the buggers.

It would be hard for me to get outdoors... there's not really any good area to run around here without getting killed... plus I work from well before dawn to well after dusk on all of my off days. I really need a better treadmill that I can do HIIT on. But since I can't afford that... I don't know.

how about an exercise video like tae bo?...or jumping rope is fun.. calisthenic drills like jumping jacks, line drills, push ups, football run in place, jump luunges, squat backs, etc....those are all good cardio...

Hadn't thought about a vid like tae bo... that's a great idea, in fact my wife already has some old aerobics tapes.

Also like the jump-rope... would have to buy one though.

jumping jacks, etc. I might be able to do in the garage...

Thank you, I just hadn't thought about any of that.

zip - do you have an incline option on your treadmill? if so, use it! its like your running up a hill. if you run and go up a hill at the same time, its more work than running flat. do that!

It does have a bit of an incline option, it only drops the back end by an inch or so, but I alwyas use it (in fact I removed the rubber end caps from the back legs to lower it as far as it will go without the belt dragging on the ground.

Unfortuneately my treadmill is too small for me to run on. After my health club membership expires I think I'll just use the money to get some really good equipment for an at home gym.
