Cardio before weight training or after?

I have heard that you definately, positively should do one before the other, but everyone seems to have a different opinion on whcih to do first  and no one can give me a really "good" reason for why their way is necessary.

One friends siad that if your body is in fat burning mode (after cardio) your metabolism will not build muscle in weight training but continue to burn fat- this did not make much sense to me. But then, if you do weight training and
your muscles are tight you are more likely to strain something when you run.

(and I have heard about folks getting hungry or tired if they do one or the other first).

What say you and why?

TIA

cardio after weights

reasons...

1) weight training is anaerobic, so it depletes ur glycogen stores meaning that when you are doing the cardio you will burn more fat

2) doing cardio first will likely lower your performance doing weights

agreed toby.

I used to do cardio first for 25-30 mins or so then do weight, and found it really dificult to lift. I then tried doing it the other way round and would do a real hard weight workouts then jump on the cross trainer for 45 mins. Was much easier the other way round and felt loads better afterwards...

You should try to wait 8 hours after you weight train or do cardio on your off day. You need food after a heavy workout.
