Cardio and Mass on same days?

Hey, for the first week of my training I did 3 days cardio at 20 mins and 3 days mass, on consequent days. I heard not to do weights and cardio on same days, but is it bad? I have a lot of free time and plan to do cardio every day!, so , should I still limit my mass exercise to 3 days (effectively half as much as my cardio), or push it to 6 (full cardio + mass every day). I'd be comfortable with any of them, but just wondering is there anything wrong with doing this?

Thanks

I typically go to the gym 4 days per week. I do about an hour of weight lifting followed by 15-20 min of cardio. On the 5th day I do an hour of yoga to stretch myself out :). I've just gotten my first six pack and am already benching 225 lbs and I only weigh 160.

Before exercise I eat high fiber cereal with a banana (potassium is great to control the lactic acid that will fill your muscles so you can exercise longer with less fatigue). Fiber is great for flushing out your system and keeping you lean. After lifting I instantly drink a whey protein shake as I do my cardio. Whey protein is the most easily digestible protein that will help your muscles recover the fastest--helping you see gains quickly.

There is no problem with lifting on the same day as cardio but you should be lifting before the cardio otherwise you won't be making the most of your lifting routine.

the only way you should be doing 6 day of weights is with a good quality split routine, 6 day using a full body routine is to much.

Well said!

Thanks for the replies, also, another question I have regarding eating before/after exercise

I usually eat my breakfast then go jogging around 2 hours later. I've heard it's better to just get up, eat a banana and have some water, go running, then come home and eat breakfast as per normal? Thoughts?

I think I'd like to do my mass and cardio same day each day, 6 times a week. Any recommendations for what time is better for each, like after a certain meal?

E.g ; After breakfast, 2 hours or so, do weights, then eat some lunch, then maybe an hour and a half later or so, go running, come home. Anything wrong with this?

Edit : I also read mass before cardio is better as the weights will tap into your glycogen so you burn more fat during cardio? Is it ok to go straight from mass to cardio with little break in between? I just want to know before I do anything drastic

it is usually best to have eaten something about an hour before training otherwise you will lack some of the energy needed to put in a good training session.

there is a cardio training method which involves not eating before training in the morning known as "Bonk" training but it is not healthy but it does work.

there is nothing wrong with your above example

this is also ok but remember to refuel with a carb/protein snack or drink in between to avoid hitting the wall.
