Capua, Shall I Begin?

Hey there, how are you doing? Hope all is going well for you!!

Your posts always make me smile, and make me want to put even more effort in, I think I need a mini-Tik sitting on my shoulder all day long to keep my spirits high :p. I think you should consider a career in motivational speaking!

Your workouts are going great, by the way, keep at it and you'll get there. When I was just starting out I couldn't even run half a mile without nearly collapsing, and there are loads of people whose workouts put mine to shame too.

:smilielol5: a mini-Tik!! Love it!!!

Things are going great! I fell off the wagon a bit when I went away last week- but I'm back, and ready to get my own butt into gear!!! :)

You're doing great! I love that you're planning your meals ahead of time, so that you can make easy healthy choices....i've found that this is key for me too. If I don't pack a lunch the night before, then I won't take it- and then it's all downhill from there!! At first I found it a lot of work to plan, cook, pack...but once I got into a routine- it was easy!! It's these little things that you do that make it easy to succeed!

Grats on your weight loss! you're a hard worker, there's no doubt that you can make it happen! It's hard tho, sometimes we're our own worst enemy!

Have a great day tomorrow- and don't work too hard! 13 hours is intense!! It's smart that you took today to rest!!

Keep up the great work!! :)

Feb 18th Report:

Oh deary me, crap day entirely. I specifically didn't work out on thursday so I could be fresh and ready for what is usually a pretty tough and physically demanding job. I assumed that I probably needed to take a rest so I could be as prepared as possible for a long and demanding day. In reality, the amount of actual physical work I did was about two and a half hours, the rest of the 13 hour day was spent bored out of my mind sitting in the passenger seat of the van giving map directions to Plymouth (my boss doesn't like satnav), from London and then back again. Which, by the way is a five hour journey in each direction. Oh well, at least I got to see a lot of the beautiful English countryside and passed Stonehenge (which isn't as spectacular as most people think).

Anyway, here's the Feb 18th food details:

Wake up - 5am
Breakfast - 5.20am: 3 egg omelette with cheese and chopped tomatoes, relentless juice energy drink and a coffee with no milk or sugar.
Throughout morning: 2 powerade berry drinks
11.30am: Chicken breast with wholemeal pasta in home made carbonara sauce (single cream, grated cheese, ham, dried mixed herbs), 1 litre perrier water consumed over the next 3 hours.
4pm: Chicken breast with wholemeal pasta in home made carbonara sauce, 2 powerade berry drinks during the drive home.
10pm: AT HOME FINALLY, half tin of salmon with salad (lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes) and 2 cups of twinings apple and camomile tea.

Feb 19th report:

Wake up: 10am
Breakfast - 10.30am: Bacon and spaghetti Hoops, black coffee
Throughout morning and early afternoon: 3 cups twinings herbal tea, different flavours.
3pm: Rump steak with crispy roast potatoes and parsnips with a little ketchup, 2 litres bottled water throughout rest of afternoon
8pm: can of oxtail soup with 2 slices wholemeal bread. 2litre bottle of water throughout rest of evening.

oxtail soup

...um...we don't have this in canada! Is it what it sounds like!?!!

And Stonehenge isn't very impressive?!! :(
I'm going there this summer!! I can't wait to get one of those dorky pictures of me next to it! Or even pretending to hold it up! hehe

Lol, it's a soup made of tail's of ox's, apparently. It's tasty!

And Stonehenge is great, amazing even, for tourists.

Hey Tik, sorry about this above post, I didn't mean it to sound as grumpy or abrupt as it came across. I was way tired and wanted to post a reply to you before heading to bed. Unfortunately coherent and cheery thought is not my strong point when I'm half asleep.

Sorry again!

Hehe! no worries- you didn't sound grumpy at all! :)

I'm still amazed that there's a soup made of oxtail... I picture a tiny little tail, floating in a bowl of soup....

It's good eh? is it soup that is quite popular over there?!

I'm excited for Stonehenge mostly because it will be the first world wonder I've ever seen!

But I'm also excited for a lot of things...such as London's Jack the Ripper tour!! The Tower of London! And all the country side!

21st February Report:

Right, I suppose right off the bat I should really apologise for the horrors I'm about to unleash on you. I took a couple of current full body pics, and to be honest, it wasn't great. I guess the only saving grace is that I chose to exclude my face, which may have sent some people right over the edge when viewed in tandem with my pasty white, fat-arse body. Oh well, it may well serve as the kick up the arse I need right now, and get me working out harder than ever...... I hope! And to get a tan..... Honestly, I look like an uncooked cod fillet at the moment!

Right now I'm fairly pleased with myself, having put a lot of effort into my weights workout this afternoon, and managed some lifts that previously I would have been terrified of. I don't know what exactly happened to me today, but for some reason everything clicked just perfectly and the fear of going heavy just deserted me. I managed some personal bests which I am extremely proud of :hurray:! Now the following weights workout may seem a little chaotic in places, as I didn't plan it I just sort of winged it a little going with what felt best at certain times. It may not be the best workout, but I feel like I progressed a great deal mentally with knowing what I could handle physically. At times it was a case of one-up-manship with myself, I sort of thought to myself "I can handle this weight easily, what happens if I put more weight on (the bar)". I'm not going to lie, I surprised myself.

Weights workout:

Warm up: push ups 5 x 10, bench dips 3 x 10 with 10kg plate on my lap, barbell pull ups with legs raised 3 x 6.
Military press (front shoulders) 1 x 10 20kg, 2 x 10 30 kg.
Bench press 3 x 10 30kg, superset with 3 x 10 dumbell flys 10kg
This is where I started getting adventurous
Squats, behind shoulder 1 x 10 40kg, 1 x 10 45kg, 1 x 10 50kg
Deadlift 1 x 10 60kg, 1 x 10 70kg, 1 x 10 80kg, I went a bit mad here 1 x 8 100kg
Back to squats, holding barbell in front of body 1 x 10 80kg, 1 x 8 90kg, 1 x 3 95kg
Bench Press 2 x 5 50kg, 1 x 2 60kg
Back to military press 2 x 5 40kg
Side dumbell raises, 10kg 2 x 10, 1 x 6
Skullcrushers, 1 x 10 20kg, 1 x 10 22.5kg, 1 x 10 25kg, 1 x 10 30kg, 1 x 4 35kg
Barbell curl, 3 x 6 30kg
Hammer curl 3 x 10 with 10kg dumbell
Standing dumbell tricep extensions 2 x 8 20kg

And this is where my body literally gave up!!! But now I know I'm capable, I'm going to push myself harder each time I lift weights.

Food and drink for today:

Wake up: 7am
Breakfast, 7.30am: 4 x scrambled egg with 6 rashers bacon, 2 x wholemeal toast and black coffee. 1 x bottle powerade.
12 midday: Chicken breast in bbq sauce, and couscous, relentless juiced berry energy drink
1pm - 3pm: weights workout, 2 litres water and bottle of powerade
3.20pm: Pizza ristorante salami and pepperoni pizza (I figured the high calorie count and high protein/carbs would be a decent post weights meal) earl grey tea with milk.
Throughout afternoon and early evening: several cups of tea and coffee
9.30pm: veggie lasagne with lots of extra cheese 2 x powerade

Right, now to the photo's, I sincerely apologise, though do not take any responsibility for psychiatric counselling required upon viewing, once seen, these cannot be unseen, so please proceed with extreme caution!

Wow, your trip sounds really amazing, it looks as if you're going to be travelling a lot. Are you going to hire a car, or go by train or coach? If you're in London for a while, and plan on visiting Leicester Square, may I recommend a little Japanese restaurant named Zipangu's, it's my favourite restaurant in the whole world..... order the Chicken Kare Age, it's absolutely the nicest thing I've ever tasted. Also you should visit Hampton Court Palace, I live really close to it lol

I'm not sure how popular the soup is over here, lol your befuddlement over it is really sweet, I can assure you it's not a little tail floating in a bowl of soup :smilielol5:. It's sort of like a ground beef soup, I think. In any case, it's very tasty, I quite often use it instead of gravy in my shepherds pie, it makes the shepherds pie taste a lot meatier!!!

oooooo pish posh! We all post them, and we all feel that it's not our finest hour- but to be honest, you carry your weight well! You look good!! And you shouldn't be ashamed of yourself like that...(ha! Easy for me to say! :p ) ... and don't talk about white...I freakin' glow in the dark! Okay! I am like Casper...!! :)

Congrats on pushing yourself and achieving some personal bests! It's important to push yourself! Not only will you get a better work out, but I'll give you a lot of encouragement on your abilities!! Your workout today was fantastic! You're really pushing yourself- especially with the weights!! You're going to have massive guns!! hehehe...

I have found my biggest problem when i weight train by myself, is I tend to do what I like, (i.e., what's easiest) - and then i don't target the areas that I need to! I love push ups, curls, presses - anything with my chest, shoulders, arms - and I'll skip my legs and core!! So I have learned that for me to get a workout where I target all my parts, I need to write it out ahead of time! It'll also make me stick to doing a certain number of reps and a certain weight! If i go in without a plan, i'll skimp on my reps so much!! :) hehehe...you're lucky that you have the personal drive to push yourself! I don't have that...if I do a weight I can do, I'll stick to it! I wouldn't go up to one that really strained me! So you're doing fantastic!!!

On a side note- I love skullcrushers...whenever I do them, the name makes me feel so tough..."yeah, i just did some SKULLCRUSHERS!!!" hehe...just like wood choppers - I like those too! hehe

Ooo! I loove Japanese food! I'm a huge sushi fan too! I might have to pick your brain for some more travel advice!! We're going to have 7 - 10 days there! And we want to do SOOO MUCH!! We want to rent a car and drive ourselves around- for us, the countryside is what will make the trip!! I love photography! So i want a lot of scenic pictures! I can't wait for the castles, and the the country side!! It's sooo new to me! I've never been over there- and I'm just so excited! I hear you need like 3 days to really do london!! i'm so excited to go!! I will take ANY recommendations of what to see, what to avoid, where to eat, and where to stay! LOL Do you know how Durham is? That's where my conference is being held!

I'm not sure how popular the soup is over here, lol your befuddlement over it is really sweet, I can assure you it's not a little tail floating in a bowl of soup . Haha, I wouldn't think a tail would have a lot of meat in it!! lol! I will have to try it when I'm over there! LOL
I love shepherds pie! You sound like you know your way around a kitchen!! Which is so great! I know so many people that don't know how to cook! I think it's a sin! People rely on premade or order in food way too much! I love cooking! There's nothing more relaxing then making a dish you love! I love chilis, soups, stews, and casseroles!! Really, I love making everything hehehe!

Happy Tuesday :)
