Cannon's Journal

Hey Mahatt--The US is one of the few developed nations without a real health care. Usually people get health care through their employer. Our health care isn't bad though we pay a pretty big chunk of it, but next contract they'll try and take more away. I'm down 1.4 pounds since Saturday, but a lot more since last Friday so I consider this a very good week weight wise.

cannon it seems when I was working the more I paid for my insurance the less they covered. I guess it all comes down to how much the employer is putting in.

hey there cannon - good luck with our freddy halloween challenge! It sounds like you are doing great.... make sure you get some more veggies in there with your food - if you can stand them =) they fill you up and often have very little calories

Thanks everybody. I feel like I've figured out how to lose even with my current schedule. Veggies are always a challenge for me. I've started eating a lot more salad and I'm eating more veggies, but its hard for me to get in as many as I should.

Hey, Cannon. Just checking in. I've fallen so behind in keeping up with everyone. Have you tried cutting up veggies and putting them in baggies and just taking them to work with you? I find that helps me a lot.

Have a great weekend.

Well I did get some extra veggies today. My sister invited me out for breakfrast at 8:00. So far today I've had

A vegetarian egg white omelet (brocoli, mushrooms, onion, tomato) no cheese.
2 pieces of wheat toast with butter
hashbrowns
small orange juice
left over chicken chow mein (half a small order)

Not the greatest, but man considering how many calories I normally would have had in that situation I'm feeling really good about myself. Its getting easier to be sane while eating out.

You SHOULD be proud Cannon!

And would you look at that ticker? Almost 40 pounds gone!!

Man, today is major stress day and nothing...nothing increases my appetite like stress. This week is crazy, but I need to get through it. I kind of feel like it is sink or swim time on the diet. I'm very close to losing 40 pounds and this week will either get me ready to lose the next 40 or shake me off the wagon.

Come on, Cannon. Hang in there. Concentrate on using food for fuel only. Find another way to cope with the stress. Just don't get thrown in jail!

40lbs is only a good day away.

Hey Cannon!!!!!!! Like I said before and I will say it Again:D I'm cheering for you and I know you can do this. I agree with Pineola, But it is easier said then done. Just stay positive!!!!! Everytime I get the urge to slurge and throw in the tell I get on here and read the journals, It keeps me from eating just reading the success everyone has. Or a fitness magizine.

Have a GREAT DAY and drink your WATER!!!!!!:p

Thanks ladies :). I'm back to a good state of mind. I was doing school work all day yesterday and I had a lot of stuff do for my grad school class so I took a personal day and I've kicked out an 8 page paper since 7:30 this morning. I've also managed to kick my blues. Tonight, I'll make time to visit some diaries. This summer life has been about me and I've totally reveled in it. Now I have other responsibilities and I'm trying to fit everything into one small little space. Taking a day to catch my breath was a good idea even if it was only 3 weeks into the school year and they'll be printing it in the newspaper. I'll come back tomorrow a better teacher and I won't be worried about getting all this stuff done.

I think I was close to chucking everything last night and I think that's what happenned to a few of my favorite posters on this site. Our addiction, bad choices, lack of willpower or whatever you want to call it can be like quicksand. It can be very difficult to pull yourself free when you start binging. That crisis has passed, but I see a tough week ahead of me as part of some tough months. The 7 hours of sleep I have been forcing myself to get has made a big difference and I know exercise needs to be a part of my morning routine. Today was a necessary respite

Proud of you! I call them "mental health days" and we ALL need them! I'm in need of one myself...*OHD makes mental note to shuffle appointments in an attempt to schedule a day at the spa*

Cannon we all come across that. You and I have a bunch to lose and That makes it even more tempting just to chunk it all and start hanging out with our friends and eating the way we use to. I hit a bad spot awhile back and i was ready to quit. I even had a huge cheesecake I had my eye one and I was going to eat the whole thing. Little by little I talked my way out of it. Well needless to say I never bought it and if I feel deprived and want something sweet I have it. Yea it's a bad day but it makes it that much easier to stay on the wagon the next day...

A Useful Exercise

1. I didn't know how much I weighed
2. I drank soda as my beverage of choice
3. I got 5 hours sleep per weeknight
4. I didn't pay attention to what I ate
5. I was falling asleep all the time
6. I didn't exercise
7. I ate doughnuts for breakfast
8. I ate cafeteria food for lunch
9. I ate fast food or take out for dinner
10. I didn't have much energy

Today

1. I know exactly what I weigh
2. I drink water as my beverage of choice
3. I sleep 7 hours every night and sometimes 8 on the weekends
4. I carefully study most of what I put in my body
5. I am usually refreshed and rested
6. I try, but don't always succeed, to walk
7. I eat oatmeal, healthy cereal, or yogurt for breakfast
8. I eat a sandwich on whole wheat bread or I eat a salad for lunch
9. I eat a healthier dinner--sometimes cooking more and when I do order I order healthier
10. I have more energy

I don't have 6 pack abs yet--heck I'd settle for a case, but I have made some very positive changes and even without the weight loss I'm healthier and I feel better. 3 months ago 500 pounds was very close to me--now I'm very close to the 300s. I know a lot of you have also made these kind of strides so smile and celebrate you and all you have achieved. :D
