Cannon's Journal

Wow you're strong, dude! They sounded like they could have been pretty hard days, but you tackled them like that rugby player in your sig.! Go you, you're doing great!

I have no doubt in your mind that during the trip away you'll be just as strong. And like you said, it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change. You don't have to deprive yourself the whole time. Again, enjoy it, and if things go wrong, then no regrets, just enjoy it.

you aren't doing what you were doing before so that is a huge change you've made - it seems moderation is the key!! and you've got that

You guys are the best. The key for me is using my brain and making good choices. Using this forum really helps with that. Does anybody know how many calories are in your standard thin crust veggie pizza? I had 5 squares--not slices. That's what I don't like is when I'm clueless about the nutritional information of what I'm eating because its harder to make a good choice. You know myself, my sister in Ohio, and my other sister's husband have now lost a combined total of 131 pounds. For me it's been summer vacation. For my brother in law he quit his job to get a new job and to get his CPA this summer. My sister meanwhile was unemployed and living off a settlement last year. I reallize how much easier it is to lose weight without work stress. For any stay at home moms--none of us had kids to take care of. That's a completely different issue we didn't have to worry about either.

Really it depends on the pizza. But my sources tell me (and I don't have a lot of faith in my sources, though they give a rough idea) that 4 oz/112g worth of pizza is 251 kcals.

That's part of the reason why I get a bit apprehensive about eating out. I can't see how much calories are in them, and my guesses usually ends up being quite wrong... That why I like to cook/prepare food at home; I can read packets, weigh things and measure amounts. Then I can be absolutely exact. I quite enjoy doing that, really :)

I guess it depends on the person whether or not stress affects weight loss. If you're keeping busy in a job, you don't dwell on "when can I eat next" or "how much have I eaten today" or "I can hear that huge lump of chocolate-fudge cake calling me from the fridge" However, if the stress really builts up, comfort eating occurs. I'm pleased for your sister and BIL, 131 pounds between them is another person! Tell them a random Brit says well done :D

And just think; soon you'll have lost just as much all by yourself. Keep rocking, dude!

According to Fitday, a thin crust vegetable pizza has about 10 calories in a square inch...

a 1/8 piece of a 12 inch pie has about 150 calories...

But every place is different.. depending onhow the vegetables are prepared (some places marinate their veggies in olive oil, while healthy and great tasting, it adds calories)

But the veggie pizza sounds like it's agreat choice and even if it is higher in calories than anticipated, it's still getting vegetables which are good for you..

Thanks you two :). I don't have an exact count, but figuring wose case scenario of 900 calories on lunch, there's no way those two slices could have had 220 calories a piece. Just so I'm under 2000 its a good day and I think I am under by several hundred.

Yea, that sounds about right. You have done good, and staying strong in the first place is the important thing to remember.

If you're several 100 under 2000, then that's a very very good day! You should be really proud of yourself :) Keep it up dude, stay cool!

Great going Cannon. It is great to be able to eat out from time to time but incorporate it into your diet. It doesn't have to be all or nothing, and you have proved that ;) Inspiration to us all :)

The thing is...when you are eating out you are now making the best possible choice. That's a difficult habit to form, to still be able to think healthily while outside of our normal routine environment. And you seem to have mastered it. You've already had one trip down and still lost weight. And the next trip will be a breeze. You set a fine example for the rest of us. So a big thank you!!!!

Hey cannon well done for keeping the calories low, you're doing great and making good choices even when you eat out so that's a real bonus too!

Keep up the good work and I hope your weekend was fun!:)

I cheated in that I weighed myself this morning. I apologize Friday scale club, but I wanted to see if I had really had a rough weekend. Anyway, I seem to be down over a pound since Friday.

This weekend I:
Went out to lunch with my family at a restaurant known for pie
Watched a movie with my friends. We ordered pizza.
Played poker with my friends. We ordered Chinese.

All this and I'm down a pound. I know pride cometh before a fall, but I feel very proud of this past weekend. Yesterday, I had chicken chow mein and 2 eggrolls for dinner. Sorry, that's not suffering in my book.

Hey, Cannon. You should be proud. Eating well all the time surrounded by all the other options is a really, really hard thing to do. It is especially hard for folks that have not been so good at it previously.
I feel great when I do the right thing at a restaurant. Let the pride consume you and the easier it will be not to consume too much of the bad foods.

I'm with you on the not torturing yourself. I have to have a bit of my favourites now and then. It is not realistic of me to think I am never going to eat Brownies, Ice Cream, Spaghetti Carbonara....OK, I'm just torturing myself now.

You are doing fantastic!! Keep it up!

Congrats on the pound!

Isn't funny how we grow more aware of our food intake when on a plan to succeed? More aware while we consume it and more aware what it gives and takes.. Hmm...

lol. I did the same thing Cannon. I cheated and looked at my weight too. good job on the extra pound... chicken chow mein or not you SHOULD be proud. :)

Gratz on the quick weight-loss! I'm gonna half-disagree with what others are saying here about treating yourself. There is nothing wrong with the occassional treat as long as you don't binge or anything but I've found that the more conscious I get of what goes into my mouth the less I WANT to get those good-yet-bad food!

Of course, we're all only human, right, and even though I might want those foods less, I still want them time to time. I'm just saying, those kinds of temptation really lose their hold on you as you get better at it :)

Hey Cannon!

Wow, down a pound, and after such a mad weekend! Obviously you have been keeping in control and you've been making better choices in those situations. I sayeth go you!

I weighed in for the halfway challenge and I came to 443.8 pounds. This will be a tough week no doubt, but I'm going to try and stay in control. I am coming up with a total summer weight loss goal too. I'm thinking 40 pounds is more realistic than 66. I'm also settng December 1st as a goal date for losing 2 pants sizes.
