Can anyone help me??-Rachel

Here's my issue. I am 20 years old 5'6 122 LBS. I am very happy with my tummy and arms, but I need a little help figuring out how to make my inner-upper thighs & butt smaller. I am currently going to the gym about 4-5 times a week- I do the elliptical machine for about 45 minutes each time I go, along with inner and outer thigh machines (high reps/low weight). I have been doing this for about 2 mnths. now, what is going on here? I think my butt is getting bigger!
Thanks-Rachel :)

Whats your diet like? Exercise is only about 30 percent of the equation. Doing a solid fitness routine will get you nowhere without a solid diet. Lets start by examining your diet then go to fitness routine.

PS. your cardio seems ok, we may need to tweak your strength training. Lets do one thing at a time though.

Well... I have been eating Lean Cuisine's for lunch and dinner, and oatmeal for breakfast. If I have a snack it is usually reduced fat wheat thins, or fruit. I dont like most meats, only chicken & turkey, so I am picky & it is tough to find things I like. What should I be eating?
Thanks-Rachel

I love soups & fruit very much. I just have to make sure I have enough healthy snack during the day b/c I will get shaky...

Rachel,

Please don't try to lose 10 lbs. Assuming your a small framed girl, your actually a little underweight. Albeit by only 4 lbs, your natural healthy weight is 126. All you need is to distribute the weight.

you should take in 2000 calories a day with a moderate activity level. That will maintain your weight. Any less than say 1600 can risk you going into starvation mode, we don't want that. You wont blast the fat away from your buttocks/thighs like that! Eat 5-6 small meals a day to keep your metabolism going. Try this website - , its a good free online food journal to keep track of calories and macronutrients. Try to split your calories 40 percent carbs, 40 percent protein, 20 percent fat. If your eating less than what you are supposed to, you could gain a few lbs when you start eating more. This is normal and dont be alarmed. Your body has to adjust to a new eating pattern. Keep up the exercise. Maybe throw a little bit of light strength training in for good measure.

Keep us posted. Were here to help.

I like to vary my cardio to keep things interesting and recently purchased an elliptical. An associate in the fitness industry claims that the elliptical builds mass on pear/spoon shapes, particularly around the hips. I want to maintain a streamline appearance. Is there any truth to this at all?

If you're at a gym, they have those abductors and.....inductors? I dont know, one pushes the legs apart, the other brings it in, helps for inner and outer thighs.
For the butt, they have reverse leg press machines, but a good old fashioned lunge works best :)
