calves/gastrocs

So these past few months ive lost a lot of weight, but my legs are still big.. this is mainly due to not working on them. basically i have large calves, my thighs are toned due to squats and such but its my gastrocs (calves) that I am pissed off about lol.

I just naturally have large gastrocs and I want to tone them. When im not standing, the gastroc muscle hangs from my leg.. its really flabby and huge lol.

I basically started to do calf raises this week and some jump rope. I am guessing that in order to tone, I do lots of reps with only my bodyweight right? because I dont want to get them any bigger so I dont want to pack on the weight.
Right now im doing 3 sets of 20 (one leg at a time) calf raises, every other day. is this good? Am i suppoesd to do one leg or both legs at a time?

I know it will be weeks before I see results, I knwo this from losing weight.. just wondering if any of you have any pointers? When I wear slim jeans I can see my gastroc.. its ridiculous.

thanks!

Do you run or jog at all ?

so basically it is fat then? I used to run/jog but got bored of it.. i really enjoy jumping rope and i hear its good to develop ur calves/gastrocs..

so basically i should stick with jump rope / calf raises to slim my legs down?
when doing calf raises do I do one leg or two legs at a time?

muscle will hang and is flabby when it's not flexed. If you put your leg on a table with your knee bent and ankle pointing down (so you don't stretch out the gastroc) then hit it, it will swing back and forth. It's not really common for people to have very large amounts of fat stored on their calfs.. at least not to the extent that they are very jiggly because of it.

its not jiggly but it swings yeah.. when its not flexed i mean...

so doing jump rope/calf raises will help this i guess? lol to tighten the muscle?

any tips?
im 156lbs, 6 feet tall.. im in good shape.. just my calves.. never really worked them out until last week

so yeah.. help!!

sounds strange but exercising with someone who's better than you at that sport is actually a good thing because you don't want to look bad so you'll push yourself that little harder, I ride with my dad a bit and he's an emmense time trialist and I'm 14 and a triathlete so I push myself that little harder to keep up and well you can tell that it's really helped come race day

speaking of running,

i just did a 5km run yesterday and it was fun! I thought I would tire out so quickly but I did really well for my first long distance run. I feel that it worked my legs this morning, and later this afternoon im going for my 22km bike ride!
