calf raises?

hey im 16, female and weigh about 140lbs, i was at the gym yesterday doin Leg Press Calf Raises and i got the "thats too much weight for you" from a trainer ... it really pissed me off.. i know i have correct form because i used to do it with a trainer, i was just wondering if 100lbs is really too much? i didnt feel anything from it this morning and i did 4 sets of 15... grrr its depressing when you finally get onto somthing and get shun down like that :( .. neways any help wood be appreciated

Well if you can do it then you can do it.

I always work my calfs one at a time.

The reason for this is that the calfs are amazingly strong and need massive weights to work them .

I can not hold a dumbells that are heavy enough to work my calfs. I get up to 2x100 lb dumbbells and I can not hold them long enough to work my calfs.

So instead I use the leg press with a wooden block under my toes or a step under a smith machine. Using one leg at a time means you only need half the weight.

If your doing it with proper form and are seeking hypertrophy tell the "trainer" to buzz off. Many trainers really don't have a clue, some of them are not even in very good shape. They want to be "tone".

thankz newf yeah she isnt in the best shape and i benched more than her seconds earlier so that could be the problem lol at least i know who not to ask for help at the gym :)
