Caiman's weight loss journey, Mk.II

I stepped on the scales on Christmas Day and they tipped over 300lbs for the first time in over a year. Given the festivities, I’ve let a couple of days pass and checked again today and they read 298lbs. Still, it was maddening to see that number, 300, again. That means since October 2010 I’ve a net loss of 22lbs, versus a total loss achieved earlier this year of 50lbs. I’m really disappointed with myself, even more so for the fact I’ve almost commentated on it with sporadic updates to my previous thread throughout the latter half of 2011 as the lbs has crept back on.

Regardless of what I have lost in total the fact is that since March 2011 I have gained 28lbs. My BMI calculator labels weight in excess of 295lbs as Morbidly Obese. I never wanted to be in that category again but here I am.

So I need to start again. Again. I want to draw a line under what has passed and approach this as a new venture. I need to achieve in 2012 what I failed to control in 2011. A big part of my original success was definitely keeping a food and exercise diary on this site and I am sure it is no coincidence that as I wavered in doing that, my successes started to turn into failures. I am going to try my damndest to keep on top of at least adding weekly updates to this thread because holding myself to account in black and white really helps.

High recorded weight: 320lbs – 18th October 2010

Best recorded weight: 270lbs - 7th March 2011

Current weight: 298lbs – 28th December 2011

I thought I'd come and bump this. As is evident through my lack of updates to this thread, I didn't start over in December and indeed, by June this year I had once again reached 320lbs... that place I started way back in my original diary thread in October 2010.

That served as a trigger once again and I am happy to check in today at 275lbs, I've had great success once again with just eating well, cutting out the crap and upping the exercise. I am on course for 270, my previous 'low' and hope that this time, I can surpass and continue onwards towards 200. I feel much more confident in myself this time and whilst I know I'll have to adjust as I go, have found a great balance of eating that puts me in a deficit but doesn't leave me hungry and liable to cheat.

Onwards!

Well done Caiman. Sounds like a very sensible and sustainable way of kickin' ass.

Hope to see your regular updates here in the coming weeks

Hey all... damn once again I forgot to come back and keep my thread here up to date. I will try to check in a little more often because I'm pleased to say, my loss is going well... I am now close to 230lbs and have lost 86lbs in total in the last 8 months.

Here's my progress chart;
