Byebye Big Bum!

LOL Flumes!!!

What is it with you and embarrissing watery stories?!?! hehehehe Well you made me chuckle at 6am before work! Lovely to have you back around and smiling.

Tigs, I am so busy at work at the moment its crazy. Every day someone comes to me with something urgent on another client and I end up not being able to do any work progressing my core clients which drives me mad. But, I was really chuffed yesterdya because this was from a completely different region. I know the guys in my region know and really value what I do, but a different office, hundreds of miles away...well they usually hang onto their own work and keep it in house so I must have some in depth specialist knowledge if they override that (well, I know I do, but its nice to have it recognised!).

Back down to 181.2 this morning...I am creeping ever so slowly towards the 170s! Feels like I am clawing it .2 of a lb at a time!! MInd you, if I got off of my arse and stopped eating chocolate it would probably go a lot faster! Anyhows, I am now officially under 13 stone. 12 stone HELLLOOOOO! I am now YOU. Ok, so 12 stone and 13lbs but stable enough that this is not a momentary drop in my weight, it is where I am now. Gosh. being 190lbs seems so distant. Never going there again! I am UK size 16 on top and somewhere between a size 14 and 16 on the bottom. I reakon another 4-5lbs and I'll be a 14 firmly. 6lbs off in the last 3 months which is slowmo but better than nothing as I was on hols for most of August, ill for all of September and back to normal in October.

Trying to find a pair of trousers that I can fit into this morning...that inch off my waist has made them all droopy drawers! Going to take a couple of pairs into the seamstress today I think and then have a trying on session tonight to work out which others can be taken in and which just have to go to charity. I'm worried that at some point my suit jackets are going to be too big...trousers you can kind of hide but the jackets need to look sharply tailored and I'm not sure its worth having them made smaller. Urgh. more money spent in the Next Christmas sale! I still owe them from the last one!!

LOL at Flumsey. I keep thinking about it and grinning.
I know what you mean about not wanting to pay out on clothes. I bought some at the beginning of the year that are too big now but luckily they were in the sale. I keep wanting to look at dresses for my son's wedding but it's way to early and I hope to have lost another 6 kilos by then. We've decided to get to the weight that we all want to be by April and then buy our dresses.
Jay, a while ago you talked about buying running shoes in a shop that watched you jog on a treadmill to see what sort of shoes were best. Is it a particular chain of shops that do this and do you know if there is a shop in the Oxford Street area of London? My shoes really aren't good and I think that I would get a lot fewer aches and pains after running if I wore the correct shoes.

LOL FLumes!!! I have a friend that got interviewed once by a reporter and they asked her what 1 bit of advice would she give to the next generation? Her response? NEVER, EVER go water skiing without a wetsuit on unless you are especially fond of enemas. :smilielol5:

Congrats on hanging onto the 181 - you'll be in the 170s soon! Is it me or does it seem like everyone is sort of 'stuck' lately? I've been less than a pound away from the 50 lbs lost mark forever it seems like, but it's just not happening. I'm guessing that like you, chocolate is the culprit though. Too much Halloween candy sitting around yet.

Thanks Tig, yes...the 170s beakon! Slowly but surely!! I definitely feel a bit plateaued although thinking about it, August and September were a write off so I'm back onto the 1-month-time-lag for the good work I did in October to kick in.

Ecky, mine was a specialist running store rather than a chain, but there should be loads and loads in London that do it i.e. any serious running store that isn't a fashion trainers kind of store. The only chain I think of that does it is the big NIKE world store (i think on Oxford Street) apparently now has a specialised running section that will fit shoes but obviously they only offer Nike shoes and they can get pretty expensive. I would recommend an independent store who offer a range, particularly Asics shoes - I have been well impressed with mine. It should be relativley easy to find a store - if you PM me what area you are staying in London, I can find some options for you.

Oh my goodness a busy day today! Very nice email from a certain man who told me my article has now been read by some very senior people on his side and that they both liked it and wouldn't forget who wrote it. W00T!

Food today:
toasted bagel - 220 cals
2 cups of tea - 20 cals
potato snacks - 97 cals
1 skinny latte - 75 cals
1/3 small doughnut - 70 cals
1/2 grilled chicken breast, 1/2 slice of bread, salad leaves and 1/2 a very small portion of french fries (370 cals)
chocolate bar - 220 cals
WW lemon chicken spermy resotto (327 cals)
rainbow drops - 120 cals

Total - 1519 cals

No time for exercise today but got a busy weekend planned with a 5 mile hike, a bike ride, some sailing...

Scales this morning couldn't make their mind up between 180.8 and 179.8! I've opted for not celebrating fully my foray in to the 170s until its a little more firm but heck, its all in the right direction!! At this rate I might actually meet my end of month target of 175lbs

The risotto is actually one of my favourite WW meals and tastes delicious, however the consistency is rather...gloopy...hahaha

Feeling gooood today. Into a new skinnier pair of jeans this morning, dress down day at work...got shedloads to do but going to hit the ground running bam bam bam and get stuff knocked off of the list!

Anyhows!! See you all later!

Thanks Jay, I will be staying in Hitchin for the first few days and visiting the main shopping centres in Hitchin Luton and Stevenage so there is bound to be something in one of these places. I'd rather get them then as in London I will be meeting up with my son's girlfriend and her mother so will be quite busy showing them London. I will definitely look for Asics.
I'm glad that your article was such a success and got you a lot of attention. Mr X might start getting jealous of the male attention. :)

Have any of you ladies heard of reebok zig zags or something like that? I have several coworkers that have them already and really like them. Just as many have the Asics though and love them. I myself haven't gotten around to getting real running shoes yet.... Still using my old walking shoes, but since my feet and knees don't hurt much any more I just keep putting it off I guess.

I tried ASICS, loved them, then tried New Balance, hated 'em, now I have Reebok, and they're pretty good, but without question the ASICS were the best I've tried. To be fair, I don't run... I'm more of a walker, so its less critical in some respects, however, my feet overpronate something fierce, and truly, the ASICS were the set of shoes that had the very best heel/ankle support for me.

I've noticed that my shoes are more forgiving if I have better/dry socks. If I sweat a ton and my socks start getting wet I have to stop and change them or else I'll have blisters and sore feet before too long. I wonder if it's possible to run barefoot or in some sort of sandal so that your foot gets more air to it? Anyone ever heard of that?

I use proper running socks - I bought some Karrimor ones that were in a discount store but they are good quality and have extra padding on the toe pad and heel. I don't get hot and sweaty feet now - they just "wick" the moisture away. I cannot emphasise how much it changed my running experience to get a proper pair of asics and proper running socks. All the impact aches and pains have now just disappeared.

Hmm. Disappointed this weekend. I walked 5 miles on Saturday, and on Sunday cycled 11 miles and walked another 3 miles but my weight is 184 this morning. The cycling was particularly hard work - 1 hour 20 mins of hard work to be precise. I live in a very hilly area - the gradients varied from 4% - 9%. My calories were 1400 - 1800 each day. PAH.

On the other hand, went and tried some size 14 trousers (UK) on this weekend and they were too tight but heck, I could get them on and do them up. That is a major change in the last couple of months. I can't put on any more weight now anyway - I've just given the seamstress most of my size 16 suit trousers to take in the waist (by like 3 inches!).

So I think my plan is:
- try to go running at least 3 times a week - in the gym at lunch if the weather is too bad
- cycling at the weekend, spinning bike for at least 20 mins every other night
- abs DVD every other night (or first thing in morning before work)
- no chocolate until big Mr X meeting at the end of the month

If I commit to this, I reakon I'll be 4-5lbs down in the next 3 weeks.
