Well, I've pretty much had it with being overweight. I've been fighting this battle for the past several years, and it's finally time to buckle down and get serious. As I mentioned in the Newcomers section, I will be joining the Marine Corps within the next few months, but in order to sign up I have to lose 45 lbs. I want to lose it as fast as possible because I have GOT to get out of this city. It's driving me crazy and I need a new start.
I am 19 years old, I turn 20 on New Years, and I would love to go into the new year (and my 20s) in the best shape possible. I currently weigh 205 lbs (down from my highest which was 228), and my goal is 160. I know I can do it, it's just going to take a lot of hard work and dedication. I have a job, but since I told them I was joining the military they've cut my hours back immensely. Now I average 4 to 8 hours a week, so the other 160 some odd hours I am left doing nothing. My parents go to work and my brother is still in high school, so I basically sit around my house doing nothing all day. I have a gym membership, but seeing as how my brother takes my car to school, I have no way of getting there during the day. I have started doing some of my mom's exercise DVDs which is much better than doing nothing, but I really want kick it up a notch.
I'm not gonna lie, I only kinda watch what I eat. My mom does Weight Watchers, and I used to do it with her, but then I noticed that I was never hungry. I could go several days without eating and not feel any hunger or anything. I knew it was unhealthy, so I stopped doing that and started just watching my portions. After a few months of seeing the numbers on the scale not budge, I decided to try something else. I looked into Dr. Ian Smith's The Extreme Fat Smash Diet, and dove right into the book. The results were amazing, I had lost almost 20 lbs in a month, but was still eating. Although the diet is very strict, it allows you to have fruits, veggies, meat (not red meat), and dairy. My mom has a nutritionist and she asked her to look at this book, and the lady said their was nothing wrong with it, just that it was so strict. Anyways, my family and I went to NYC for vacation about 2 months ago, and you know how difficult it is to keep up with your diet while on vacation..needless to say, I fell off the bandwagon. Ever since then, I've just been keeping an eye on what I eat, not necessarily as strong as before. I've even kept the 20 lbs off since New York. I'm planning on starting it again on Monday, and I'm very excited.
So to make a long story short, I need to lose this weight ASAP. I've always found that keeping a journal helps me out a lot, which is why I'm here.
(sorry that was so long, lol)
But to get started..
