Bodyfat: unknown

I'm starting to get very annoyed when I measure my % bodyfat

I've got some scales which can measure bodyfat, but they're dubious to say the least.

So I've bought some Accumeasure skinfold calipers, which are slightly more accurate.

But what's going on here? In the last 2 weeks I've lost 1.3kgs in weight but gained 0.9% bodyfat (or thereabouts).

I've started back up on creatine... could that have something to do with it?

Could I still be losing muscle despite eating lots of protein and doing lots of weights, if I'm not doing weights on all parts of my body? Because I'm not doing anything (other than cardio) for my legs at the moment...

Creatine makes the body retain water in the muscle, maybe in the fat as well. I've never heard a definitive answer.

What's your carb intake? Protein w/o carbs can lead to a lot of protein not making it to the muscle and passed out the renal tract.

Are you taking three readings and averaging the results?

The last question, are you eating every 2-3 hours religiously?

Sometimes I eat protein without carbs, yes, and I don't always eat every 3 hours exactly but as close as I can reasonably get. My carb intake in general is probably a little less than average. Yes I take multiple readings.

I've noticed that maybe I've simply been eating too much lately...

are you lifting real hard? intensely?

I have those cheapo accu-measure calipers. who is testing you? you can't do a 3pt or 4pt test all by yourself. make sure they are doing it right, cuz the accumeasure calipers are kinda easy to not use right (which is why I just replaced my pair).

Oh yeah I've no doubt I'm putting muscle on... been training a lot lately and improving as expected

Quite confused by it to be honest

I don't know what to say, unless...

When did you take the measurement? Pre/post workout?

Still, calipers in an experienced hand has a 5% margin of error. For now, don't worry about it unless you consistantly get increasing readings.

Your BF% will chage around 2% thru the day as you take on water.

The best measure of body fat is the mirror. Just keep training to get the body you want.

After all... are you gonna change your diet or weight training for a number? or for your body?

I always measure myself first thing in the morning before I've eaten or drunk anything.

I'll keep a close eye on it and see how it goes from here.

I've had more consistant results with my Scales rather than the calipers. Only when I'm properly hydrated and avearge them out though. From what I've been hearing Calipers are becoming a very outdated way of measuring total BF% as skinfold tests only measure subcutaneous adiposity, fat between the muscle and the skin, and not not fat between the organs.
