Body like Beckham...

Hi guys, I'm new. Sorry about the thread title! It sounded cool and made reference to why I'm here...

I'm 20 years old, 6"1, 79kg (no idea what it is in pounds). I've always been quite a slim lad, but recently I feel like I've been filling out naturally. My main sport is and always will be football (or soccer as I imagine a lot of you will refer to it as). The ideal build for this is not going to be huge because I need to retain my flexibility, balance and pace. I basically want to improve my stamina, explosive pace and tone my upper body. I need advice on a workout routine that would work on the entire body really. I don't wanna bulk up either.

My ideal build would be like what footballers look like when they take their tops off at the ends of games.



As you can see, the guy isn't particularly big and I'm not much different to that. He's just more toned and, obviously, a lot fitter.

It would be especially helpful if anyone here has any knowledge about what sort of exercise routines footballers actually use!
 
You sound like you would like to go on a cutting diet. Take your daily calorie intake and subtract it by 500 and eat that many calories a day.

I'm assuming you know the exercises for weight lifting so here is a routine I used that has given good results.

Day 1- Chest, Shoulders, Triceps
Day 2- Back, Biceps
Day 3- Legs, Abs
Day 4- Rest

and then repeat or you can add a 5th day of rest if your still a little sore from day 1.
