dear diary
i know and confess that some of my
thoughts and ideas about food are
unsound
but i just dont know what to do anymore
what with the limitations placed on me
like no exercise, limited trips out, and meds.
that cause weight gain
its dam well hard to know just what to do
but i would like it if any weight gain was
not of my doing (with eating too much)
other than the meds i seem to have to take
(i tried life without them-- a bp med, insulin,
a steroid and now the pain meds)
maybe a list of what ive tried
in case theres something new someone can suggest?
ok here it goes--

exercise 4 hours a day
reduced calorie diets
high protein
low carb
high fat
atkins
keto
vegan
vegetarian
the regular SAD diet
dash diet
the diabetic diet i was given
the OMAD
alternate day fasting
low fat
mono diets
eat meat drink water
all vegetables
a 5 day fast
non dieting
mindful eating

and likely more ive forgotten
and theres more i havet tried but
i find them yukky sounding like
a cabbage soup diet or egg diet
or meditaranian (sp. wrong) diet

so im at a standstill
i think ive tried most fad ones too
maybe it is true
it is really a matter of calories in and calories out
which means with non stop hunger
a weigh in frequently and watching the food
but then again i tried that too
o well

is there anything i forgot
or have not tried?

keto pizza soup

Ok this one has me interested... pizza soup! What was in it?

I'm glad to hear that you will be able to go shopping regularly. It might really help you get into a better eating schedule. And yes, you need to put something in your body because of the insulin, so I hope you can find things to keep those blood sugars on track.

That is a long list... I'm sure many on the forum here can sympathize with you on trying an endless cycle of diets. Can you give me more details on the diabetic diet that you were given?

the pizza soup was done in a crockpot
and it had --

1 block of cream cheese (250 grams)
almost 2 cups of beef broth
1/2 cup water
2 cups pasta sauce
nearly 2 pounds of ground sausage browned
125 grams chopped pepperoni
1 tablespoon italian seasoning
optional mozzerella cheese as a garnish when done
6 hours on low or 4 on high
the olives and mushrooms were omitted

i actually found it too salty
but not too bad

the dietician said it was 1300 calories
and it was laid out on a huge chart
that can be put on a fridge
it had the different diabetic food groups
and the amounts in a choice
for me she said the shown veggies were unlimited
(like celery green beans lettuce cucumbers)
likely i could have asked for a more comprehensive
list too
and the carb. foods are the milk group
the grain group and the fruit group
it had pics. of examples
and there was a protein group
and a fat group
all with the pics. of examples

i was allowed 10 choices from the protein group
of 1 oz portions that were approx. 7 to 8 grams
of protein each
i was allowed 11 to 14 carb. group choices
from fruits grains and milk
and i was allowed 5 fat choices
plus the unlimited veggies

(corn peas and higher carb veggies
were in the grain group)
legumes in the protein group

it was ok but im pretty sure that with my
particular choices it was way more than
1300 calories
plus it had my blood sugar very high
despite all the insulin

hi
i thot you might want to know what
was in the 1600 calorie plan i received
before i was ever diabetic
the dietician said it was a diabetic diet
that even tho i wasnt diabetic
that its a healthier diet for ppl to eat

it was 1600 calories and the choices
were more defined for me

breakfast was to be 1 cup of cereal with
1 cup of milk
snack 1 was a fruit choice she suggested
a half cup of fruit juice
lunch was to be 2 slices of bread
and 2-3 ounces meat and
1 cup vegetables
snack 2 the same as snack 1
supper was 2 grain choices 2-3 ounces meat
and 1 cup vegetables
snack 3 was the same as breakfast
but she said it could be 4 cookies with the milk
instead of the cereal
and she gave me a list of approved cookies
and there were x number of fat choices
but ive completely forgotten them

so thats--
4-6 ounces meat
8 grain choices
4 vegetable choices
2 fruit choices
2 milks
? fat choices

i found this plan way more easy to remember
because the meals/snacks are the same day to day

I´m glad you keep trying to make it work within your constraints. That´s hard. I really hope your current plan will make it easier.

feeling very boxed in
about the continuing pain
and taking insulin needles
(feeling gross about it)
and always being hungry
and taking weight gaining
drugs
and not being allowed exercise
and forcing in the liquids
and getting little sleep due to bathroom trips
and being helpless about controlling my weight
beginning to get purging thoughts
not good

I´m sure I don´t have to tell you how bad purging is for your body, but... I assume it´s an attempt to deal with stress? It can´t be a direct reaction to the tiny amounts you´re eating, surely. What do you think about when you get the urge to purge?

dear diary

a list of the food i bought
and an invitation
to anyone who likes to
organize foods to last 6 days
from what i bought
(since i cant seem to lol)

4- cottage cheeses 2 cups size each (360 calories each carton)
4- 170g pks of blackberries (no label)
3 -375 to 500g pks of frozen vegetables (brussel sprouts, cauliflower, and broccoli)
18 fresh eggs (70 calories each)
8 bagged salads (350 to 600 calories each bag)
2 bunches of fresh asparagus (no label)
diet fruit juice
waters

i HAVE to make this last 6 days
no tossing it out
no binging

i think about the 1 worst thing that happened to me
and how i cant change it
and how i have to literally see it played
out in my life every day
(for the past 5 years)
and hate myself and wonder what i did wrong

a memory of 49 years ago

Whatever it is that happened: you don´t deserve to suffer like this.
About the food: I´d say try to portion out the cottage cheese and eggs somewhat evenly, then do with the fruit&veg as you please.

Are you able to make large portions ahead of time and divide them up? Or do you have to cook each meal when you need it? Also, do you have spices, oils, etc. for cooking and seasoning? One of my favourite things to do with eggs and veggies are frittatas. You basically can make a big dish ahead of time, then slice it up into equal portions. Then reheat at mealtime!

With the indredients that you have, you could make a frittata with about 12 eggs, some chopped up asparagus, and some of the frozen veggies.

So you could divide that up into 6 portions for breakfast for six days, and have some blackberries and cottage cheese with it each time.

For lunches, you could do one larger salad and maybe a hard boiled egg? Since you'd have 6 leftover, you could do this for 6 days.

For dinner, maybe a salad, some extra veggies from the frozen ones you got, cooked how you like, and some cottage cheese?

dear diary
yesterdays food

1 cottage cheese carton 2 cups 400
500 grams cauliflower 88 (i couldnt believe this but i used the label
to calculate this)
2 salads 311 and 368

i dont understand
if im going to gain weight from meds.
than why restrict food anyway
at least then i deserve and can see
a reason for the gain.
its kind of like my other way of
thinking when i think ok im always
hungry so y eat at least then i
would deserve and see a reason to
be so hungry.
do we just really have no control
over our weight once we gain too
much of it?
are people who somehow didnt gain
excess weight the only ones who
will have control over their weight?

and this exercise idea is hogwash
there's no way i should have
not lost weight as a young
adult exercising 4 hours a day
plus a heavily daily physical job
plus the daily ride mostly uphill
on a bike there and back
while restricting the meals
idk i guess there must be something
im missing something i dont understand about
exercise and weight loss
i didnt gain weight either
so it cant be blamed on muscle gain
but i actually looked pregnant
people asked me if i was
how embarassing
so if thats what exercise did for me at 19
i dont expect what i can do at 54 to do much lol

is there something about exercise i dont understand?
