Black Coffee?!?

I used to drink a lot of coffee, since about 6 months ago i have mostly given it up, however, I noticed that if I drink a small cup of black coffee right before i know im going to have a particularly tough workout, it just makes me feel great, nice little energy boost...does anyone know if this is a bad thing? Or has anyone else ever tried that? Cause if it isn't detrimental I'm going to start doing it on harder workout days.

nothing really bad about a caffeine buzz :) If you think its helping you go thru your workouts, then go ahead and drink that coffee.

My new crack is adding protein powder to black ice coffee and drinking it on the way to the gym. Nice caffiene kick and some protein.

The only potential issue I can see is that coffee is a diuretic, but as long as you're otherwise keeping yourself well hydrated I can't see how drinking a small cup prior to a tough work out would be unhealthy. I might have to give this a try.

No it's not.

And talking about No, check out some of the nitric oxide (NO) pre-workout supplements.

If you think coffee gives you a boost, wait till you see what this stuff does. ;)

I wonder could you take nitroglycerin pills for the same effect. My mothers gets them for free with her insurance :p

Well, why don't you try some and report back to us?

Just remember to shake the bottle well before using.

In case you were serious, nitroglycerin and nitric oxide aren't the same thing.

I wasn't joking. They give nitroglycerin to people with a heart condition know as angina. Nitroglycerin gets converted to NO in your body and no, people taking them don't explode

black coffee!! I tried it.. but I can't drink it. I tried the Dunkin donuts "light" version and that is horrible too! :ack2:

You're right, I see nitroglycerin degrades into nitric oxide in the body. Guess you can tell chemistry isn't my forte.

But I'm certain the nitric oxide supplements have an entirely different delivery system that takes it directly to the skeletal muscles to give you an incredible pump.

Interesting that the guy that brought Creatine mainstream to the market is also the guy that supposedly created the new Nitric Oxide supplements.

...and no, people taking them don't explode

Well, technically that may be true.

But it's interesting that one of the most popular supplements in this category is called NO-Xplode.

The pump you get from this stuff is amazing. Your muscles literally feel like they're going to explode.

Especially if you take it on your non training days also. It's like Viagra for your muscles. Your biceps have a permanent hard on.

At least that's been my experience. I waded through all the advertising BS best I could and settled on a product from Gaspari Nutrition.

Never regretted buying it for a moment. Stuff's been amazing.

I went from having Loads of sugar and creamers in my coffee to just black. I drink a cup in the morning and a cup right before I know an event is going to be chaotic. our family is addicted to coffee. The husband drinks a cup right before he goes to bed!

No having a cup of coffee doesnt keep him up at night. It's strange. It keeps him awake during the day and not at night. :)
