Heya! Have just recently joined WLF but have been a big fan for years. I haven't got any friends really, I can't seek support from my family (all who are obese, in denial and despite supporting me through everything else only try to sabotage my efforts) and losing weight ALONE is so hard. In fact a few months ago I was so miserable about my weight, ugliness, loneliness and unworthiness I wanted to end my life. But with my BF and the docs support - I'm here, not giving up just yet and wanting to be the REAL me. I look forward to the challenges ahead, being honest with myself about the foods I eat and supporting others in their own struggles. As decremented I'm gonna fill out a questionnaire so everyone, including myself for once, knows exactly where I stand. I'll be writing stuff in ft/inches/cm and stone, pounds and kilos because I like to. You might find it weird but I like to be considerate
1. What age, height and weight are you?
I am female, 23 and at 5'6 (66 inches/167cm) tall and weighing 13.2st (184lbs/83.6kg)
2. How much weight do you want to lose?
I want to lose 3.12st (42lbs/19kg). Basically I want to be the size I was before 9.7st (133lbs/60kg)- It's a perfect weight for my height.
3. What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?
6 months and 12 days OR 14 weeks and 4 days OR 193 days and counting. *As of January 13 2013*
4. How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?
Mainly though eating properly - I want to exercise as well but I am embarrassed to exercise at the gym, the outdoors or at home. My friend and I started to lose weight and she was double my weight and shorter too. She hates the gym and I made a plan for her. Saw her the other day - damn, she's my size now because of WHAT I TOLD HER. She looks amazing! Why o why can't I follow my own advice?
5. Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?
You guys. I don't really have anyone I can rely on in my life - my bf is supportive in a distant kind of way but since our relationship is long distance I don't want to spend our time together with me moaning about my weight.
6. How realistic is your goal?
WOW I just worked it out - and if we are going by weight alone then it's bang on if I manage to lose 3lbs a week. Now that's not very realistic or healthy maybe in the long run. However, even though I'm aiming to lose weight and I need to - I just want to be a size uk 8/10 again. I'll be happy with 10st come this date but nothing above!)
7. When will you start?
TODAY!
8. Why do you want to lose weight?
I am unhappy being who I am. I don't enjoy buying clothes, I feel like I can't swim anymore and my embarrassment has led me to become a social recluse. It's a mental thing but I know for a fact if I was in shape I'd be ALOT more confident. My relationship is long distance - he lives in Portugal. They are traditional, healthy eaters (generally as a country) and his HUGE social group party at the beach and I'm this fat white blob among lovely toned and tanned bodies (what I imagine anyway). How on earth he chose to stay with me after our first meeting... Hes gorgeous and toned and I don't like being "bigger" than him. Sex, what little we have with the distance, isn't the enjoyable experience it should be either. Last, but not least, MY FAMILY. They are all obese - but they are in denial. My circumstances mean I can't leave home and they just ram food in front of me, they all eat sugar and sit and do nothing. I'm sick of it but I'm no better than them. How can I help them if I can't help myself? I need to be their proof and their inspiration before something drastically happens to their health.
9. Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event?
My birthday. I don't celebrate my birthday really - it's just a normal day. But this is something worth celebrating and I ache to have this present (a fit me) so badly.
10. What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals?
Tiredness x chocolate = bad times. I'll constantly say "I'll start tomorrow" but it's not good enough. If I have one biscuit, I have to have them all. I'll over lode my plate with fatty foods and search for excuses to eat crap in every corner.
11. Why do you think that you now have a weight problem?
Lack of discipline, lack of good examples at home and lack of support - I have tried and failed at doing this alone.
What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight?
Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight?
Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back?
Phew there are so many so I'll stop here. In short I am an emotional binge eater. For every 3lbs I eat I''ll buy myself something special (not food but more like a day out somwhere
). For every stone I lose I'll take up one of the hobbies I want to return to - horse riding, surfing, rock climbing and scuba diving! I have a personal fitness trainer who I wont be able to afford and who I haven't seen in 2 months because I just couldn't be bothered to claim my three sessions. I'll use them this week as a kick start!
Peace out and I'll be checking in every day with a food diary and an emotional one also - they both seem to link and I want to know when I eat and what I eat and why.
