Binge eater from the bottom

Hello c: I'm really happy to be here because I feel like I can talk openly seeing as how I know no one here (probably). I have an eating disorder. When I was about 12, I started purging and binging. I don't purge anymore mostly because I feel like if I do, I'm ruining a clean streak. But I do binge. It is self harm, but I'm trying to overcome it. I have been thin before and I've even lost weight. I want my lifestyle to reflect health and happiness, instead of wanting to kill myself everytime I eat. I am at the very bottom, at this point.

Im looking for inspiration and support that I don't have. My goals are to eat a plant based, vegan diet and to run 26 miles.

I've been through therapy. I've talked to personal trainers. I've even signed up for boxing. Idk what to do.

Hi Dani & welcome to the forum. You can certainly say what you feel here & it's good to be able to share your feelings in a safe & supportive environment. I find it very sad to hear that you started purging & binge eating when you were only 12. Our society's obsession with being thin has a lot to answer for. Wanting to be healthy and happy are really good ideals. Building your self-esteem is the most important thing I think. Did you feel that therapy was beneficial to you? I think you will find that there are many other people in here who have really struggled with low self-esteem, people who "eat their feelings" & many who still do. Know that you are not alone.
Perhaps seeing a nutritionist might help you and/or joining a support group in your area, if there is one. A nutritionist might help you learn to design meal plans, set dietary goals, and achieve a healthy weight. Nutritional counselling may also involve education about basic nutrition and the health consequences of eating disorders. Do you have a regular doctor that you can talk about this with? Get any professional help that you can as no-one should have to deal with an eating disorder of any sort, without trained professional help. You should be supported as much as possible.
I hope you can get your life into some balance. Learning to respect and love your body and yourself is something you can aim for. Sending you lots of love Dani. We'll help support you as best we can, xo Cate

Welcome Dani! I completely agree with Cate, but I´d like to add my congratulations for no longer purging. That is a BIG step forwards.
