Soapy boobies for you! :D

I know you can reach your birthday goal! Especially since the temptations are either already eaten or out of sight! :D

2/25—30 min exercise bike, 10.3 miles, weight: 221.5
2/26—30 min circuit training, weight: 222
2/27—30 min exercise bike, 11.2 miles, weight: 221.5

Tyly--As Oscar Wilde said, "The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it... I can resist everything but temptation." :sifone:

Brandy & Keepitoff83--I love peanut butter and chocolate--and combined it's pure heaven. :D

You know what I do sometimes? And it's absolutely terribly fattening....I take some peanut butter and add some chocolate chips to it. Then I microwave it until the choc melts, then stir it together and eat. So, so bad, but oh so yummy. Do NOT try this at home...:smilielol5:

Well, I posted the rules and sign up for my next challenge. And I signed up Omega and Bellaryna to me on my team as we discussed. :sifone:

Oh man my mouth is just watering!

Hi Kimberly

Well, I posted the rules and sign up for my next challenge. And I signed up Omega and Bellaryna to me on my team as we discussed. :sifone:

I am really looking forward to this challenge. I think that we will be a really successful team and have tons of fun too.

That is still a LOT of walking! I bet Margaret would just love to join you!

I am certainly impressed by you doing this. I have never tried to walk for 18 hours within a 24 hour period so it would certainly be hard for me. If it was going on here I would give it a whirl – but I certainly would not be assured of success. It does sound lots of fun and your success will be a very rewarding achievement.

Ha! At the rate I'm going, I need to pray to God, Jesus, the Virgin Mary, Allah, Mohammed, Buddah, Vishnu and anyone else I can think of...lmao. :D

We all want the help of every deity known to mankind.

My dad got his 2008 tax assessment a few days ago--his assessed value went down $6,600 from last year, saying his house is now worth $13,200 less than it was last year. :ack2: However, his taxable value went up a little over $1K..lmao. The taxable value is what they tax you on, for those of you not familiar with the system. So basically, even though his house is worth less, his taxes went up. However, his taxable value is still about $10K less than his AV. They cannot raise the TV higher than the AV.

I am trying to get my head around this and translate into our terms. You get taxed each year on the current value of the property that you live in?
The only tax that has a link to property value that we pay mid-ownership is the council tax. This is paid locally and is based on a band value for the property when assessed about 15 years ago. Is that the same kind of tax? For us the assessed value of the house and therefore the banding does not change each year - but the money that we pay for living in that band of house does go up each year.

All our other taxes are paid at a national level.

We also pay taxes based on property prices when we buy a property ("stamp duty") and when we sell a property that is not our principal private residence ("capital gains tax").

Well done for getting the extra exercise done and bringing in low calories despite the indulgences.

Take care
Love
Margaret

I saw many of the 24hr walkers last year, and a lot of them were in far worse shape than I, so I think I'll be ok. :D I wish you were here to do it with me--we'd have a lot of fun. :)

These are called property taxes, and all homeowners in the U.S. have to pay them. They are levied by the townships/cities, and the millege rates vary from township/city. Basically, the township assessor sets your SEV (State Equalized Value) at about half of what he/she feels your property is worth. The Taxable Value is the number they calculate your taxes on, and cannot be higher than your assessed value. Over the years, the SEV will increase faster than the TV (which is nice b/c they are saying your house is increasing in value, but they are not taxing you as much as they could be). For example, My grandmother's been in her current home for 55+yrs, and her SEV is much higher than her TV--almost double. HOwever, if she were to sell it, the new homeowners would see their TV rise to the same level as the SEV--they can and do do that when houses change hands. These taxes are used to help maintain roads and local parks, pay the local govt employees salaries and maintain the buildings, the public schools get a decent chunk of it, etc. This tax is not taken out of one's paycheck like state and federal taxes are. Homeowners are billed twice a year for this. In some places only once a year. There are some tax breaks for low-income homeowners. My gran gets about 2/3 of her property taxes back each year when she files her income tax.

I am familiar with a stamp tax as the Aussies have them, too. We have a similar tax that one pays when selling one's home. I think the buyer pays the stamp tax in the UK? Here the seller pays it. In my county it's .086% of the sales price. So on a $100K sale, the seller would pay $860 in transfer taxes. This goes to the county. There are also some minor recording fees the county charges to record the deed of sale.

We also have a capital gains tax. It only applies to one's principle residence if you make more than $250K profit on the sale and are single, or $500K profit if married. The CGT rates vary, depending on your annual income. I think the cap is 20%, so if you made a $10K profit, you'd pay $2K at the most. This tax also applies to your principle residence if you have owned it for less than 2yrs. So when H and I buy a house and flip it, we'll still have to pay capital gains b/c we won't have lived in it long enough (hopefully!!). I doubt we'll have to pay the full 20%, though, as we do not make enough money to hit the cap...lol.

Holy Smokes!! 11 miles in 30 minutes on the bike, MAN oh Mighty, I do 10 miles in 30 and I'm hauling major butt! And I know it shows I've burned over 400 calories in that time frame, you must be kicking out 600+ during your bike rides, WOW! I always come off a good bike ride soaked, do you get the same way?? What level do you ride on?? I usually ride on a level 9, I'm not quite sure how high the levels go, but on mine that works me hard enough. Your amazing, all I can say is if I went that fast and far in 30 minutes I would stroke out for sure. LOL LOL

WAY to go on keeping those calories at a very good level. I don't know why I was thinking you ate over 1900 before, Who knows, I'm losing my mind, what's new!

I'm sorry your weather is still so damn cold, I'm one of those people who like weather over 75 degrees, but under 95 to me that's perfect! LOL LOL I think it's in the upper 60's again today, but cloudy, NO BIGGIE, I can handle that, tomorrow it's going to be about the same and then Saturday, it's supposed to get up into the 70's and sunny, I'm planning a cookout for sure! Your welcome to come of course. :waving::cheers2:
Well I better go check more diary's while I'm on lunch break. Have a wonderful rest of your day sunshine!
Love ya

I am pretty sweaty when I'm done. I don't know what level mine is, b/c it just has a dial that you turn to increase resistance. The dial doesn't have any numbers on it. I don't think my resistance is very high, though. I'm sure you would not stroke out if you did my workout, silly. You're the exercise queen. :)

No improvement in the weather. :( Here's are forecast for the next 24hrs:
Thursday night through Friday, an Alberta Clipper will slide north of Lake Superior bringing a burst of moderate to heavy snow to the region starting around 3-4 AM. Wet, heavy snow will accumulate 3-6" across the entire region before ending from northwest to southeast between noon and 3 PM. Winds will increase overnight from the south-southeast to 8-16 mph inland and 10-18 mph along the lakeshore. Temperatures will rise into the mid 20s inland and into the upper 20s along the lakeshore by daybreak, reaching the mid 30s during the afternoon. Winds will turn from the south to the west at 10-18 mph during the afternoon.
And the 6-14 day outlook is below avg temps and above avg precipitation. :ack2: I think my birthday weather will suck, also. The nicest it ever was on my b-day was 70F on my 15th, and sunny. We couldn't believe how warm it was. :D We played badminton in the back yard. This time we'll probably be buried in snow as usual..:smilielol5:
