BikiniBound's Diary

Haha, I'm not ready. I mean I am... but we're going to wait a little bit yet. I think she'll get pregnant (if it all works out smoothly) sometime next year.

We'll see!

Yow two are still young. There's plenty of time if it doesn't work out smoothly. :)

Yarmiah--Thanks! :)

Trevor--Yup, March babies ARE the best. :D

Lemon, Margaret and Dawn--LOL@Babybound. I certainly am babybound more than bikinibound atm, that is for sure. Maybe next summer I'll get into one finally.

Even though I'm not trying lose weight anymore, I'm still trying to keep up with the exercise and trying to stay around a certain calorie amount so that I don't have to lose 60lbs all over again (plus put myself and baby at greater risk for complications), I still plan on tracking all this stuff.

My weight went down to 217.5 on Saturday--my pre-vacation weight, so that pleased me greatly. Then it jumped up to 220 the next day and has stayed there. Today was even higher at 220.5. :cuss: I would like to keep it at the 217 mark as long as possible, as I'm not really meant to gain much if any weight during the first trimester. 0-2lbs is what's recommended. At 2,000 calories I should easily be able to maintain. Hell, at 2,500 calories I should be able to maintain, and I haven't really been dieting lately--especially those two weeks spent in Europe, so I can't imagine my metabolism has slowed down. I do know that it's been a couple of days since I last had any bathroom action, so that could be part of it. I also feel bloated around my stomach. I'm not sure if that's due to the lack of BR action, or pregnancy stuff, or too much sodium, etc...lol. Did any of you mothers out there have a bloated feeling early on in your pregnancy(ies)?

Cerella--I am sure parenting is much harder than it looks..lol. However, it boggles my mind how some seemingly intelligent people seem to have no common sense when it comes to raising children. I suppose I shall soon find out if I was critical of others for doing what I will end up doing as well. :D

I was SUPER bloated during my first trimester so it may just be normal. Go get some GasX, it really helps.

When do you go to the doc for the first time?

Well that makes me feel better. :D

We have a preg education class a week from today, then I meet privately with the OB nurse two days later. Then my appt with the OB is a week after that. I really want to discuss nutrition and calories with a nutritionist. I'm definitely going to ask the nurse about it.

I finally got round to scanning vacation pics. So now you all get to be bored with them. :sifone:

1. Me in front of Big Ben/Houses of Parliament in Westminster (actually taken outside of Westminster Abbey)

2. Our Beefeater tour guide at the Tower of London

3. David in front of Buckingham Palace

4. Inside the Tower of London grounds

1. Me in St. James's Park

2. The Tower Bridge seen from the Tower of London

3. Me in Trafalgar Square (facing the National Gallery)

4. Margaret and me at the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain in Kensington Gardens

Week 2 of our trip:

1. David by our rental car in Harlaxton Village just outside the grounds of Harlaxton Manor. I absolutely love the house in the background.

2. The view of the North Sea from our B&B in Sunderland.

3. and 4. Two more views of the North Sea, this time from Scotland.

1. Our mini bagpipe concert in Thurso, Scotland

2. Me in front of Loch Lochy (part of the property of our b&b)

3. Loch Ness. Can anyone see Nessie?? :D

4. David in front the ancestral family home ruins..lol. Sinclair-Gurnigoe Castle.

And last but not least....the two thousand acre/400 sheep farm Scottish B&B where baby was conceived..lol. Our room was the window you can see on the 2nd floor. We had really great views from it. This pic really doesn't do it justice.

Weight was 220.5 again today. I did have some bathroom action this afternoon, so maybe that'll help tomorrow's weigh in. I'm trying to drink more water today, too. So far I've had about 60oz.

Hey there :)

Your pics are amazing and beautiful. I've always been intrigued by England and Scotland. I have a lot of Scottish blood in me, so visiting there one day would probably feel appropriate :)

It's too funny you know exactly where the baby was concieved, hehe. That is awesome. I think asking the Nurse and Doctor about nutrition requirements while your pregnant is a great idea. It's crazy how some things change when your pregnant. I might have told you this before but I had 3 of my friends all get pregnant at around the same time, so I was all of a sudden surrounded by pregnant women for about a year, and learned a bit. When your farther along, I do recommend the books that Jenny McCarthy wrote about being pregnant. They were written before she got involved with autism. The books gave my friends a good laugh (very blunt and honest) and were helpful for a first time pregnant mother...

Have a great day,
Sam

Ah, you've got Scottish blood in ya, too eh? ;)

It's funny you mentioned that Jenny McCarthy book, b/c I was just looking up pregnancy books online and saw that one. I have put holds on two library books. One is for pregnant women over age 35, and the other for pregnant women who are overweight. Between D and I, we have $100 worth of Barnes and Noble gift cards..lol. So I think we are going to have to take a trip there soon to get a baby book or two. :D

Three pregnant friends at once!!?? What a saint you are, Sam. Most men would've run away as fast as they could. :biggrinjester:

It was hard not to, lol... I stuck around though and now all my friends have 2 year olds, which is so much better .... JK The Jenny McCarthy book is a fun read, my friend would read it to me and her husband while she was pregnant and it was quite colorful, lol...

Ya, I've got a good deal of Scottish blood in me. My mother was a McAlister... That's my drinkin' side of the family for sure ;) I know what they say about drinking and the Irish but, imo the Scots are right there with them, at least in my family, lol....

I might have to read that JC book..lol

Oh yeah, the Scots can drink with the best of them, that's for sure! I mean. c'mon, there are probably more whiskey distilleries in Scotland than other country in the world..lol. Hell, they invented the stuff. :biggrinjester:

Great photos. It is great that they are small sized as it masks some of my signs of getting older that I am so sensitive about.

The books on pregnancy for mature or overweight sound very well worth reading. You want to know how to deal with the extra problems that you will encounter - but it is important not to panic about these issues. The panicking can cause the most harm. You know that you are fit and healthy (whatever your BMI/age you are fitter than many with a BMI of 25 aged 30 and probably get better nutrition to start with).

I can fully understand your desire to limit your gain - especially in the early months. I have a cousin that was slender and never realised that she was pregnant until she was about 4 or 5 months gone - she was not showing at all. She had an irregular cycle and had been taking precautions. She had even been to the doctors about getting a pain in her legs. In the end her mother twigged that it was a possibility and told her to take a test. The fact is that if she had gained much weight it would have been obvious.

In my opinion proper nutritional support is so important. You want to be hitting the right targets for everything.

You may find the following link to be quite interesting. I didnt know that the iron requirement for instance for pregnant women is about double that for non pregnant women.

If you find out about the optimum level for weight gain at each stage of the pregnancy it will be useful for a number of ways - not just for your own personal guidance. You could share it on the forum as I am sure that many people thinking of a pregnancy while overweight would find it interesting.

Love the pics!
I saw that M liked the fact that the one of the both of you was small, but I wish it were a bit larger so that we could see you both better.
I think it is cool that you know exactly where "little who~is~it" was conceived.
You will always have fond memories of your trip but even more so now.
