How much you can lift on any given movement depends a lot on biomechanics, that is how long your bones are, where your tendons are connected on your bones, how your joints are put together, etc. I have always struggled to bench press as much as other guys of my size, but often could do bent rows, pull ups, flyes and triceps extensions with almost twice as much weight as those same guys who could out bench press me by 50-200 pounds! I just have to realize that my skeletal and muscular structure are not well suited to bench pressing and do the best I can. In fact I found that by trying to push myself too hard to bench press more weight I just damaged my rotator cuff and lost ground.
