Belly fat or what?

Hey guys. I'm to to Beachbody and I'd just like to take my time to say hi and introduce myself. I'm form Australia and turning 20 this year. Currently working as a Business Administrator/Graphic Designer and whatnot. I have been exercising for a while and keeping fit. Completed insanity and I am on my last month of P90X Doubles. Prior to these I had been doing my own workouts in my home gym.

I am a relatively fit person. I eat healthy the majority of the time and exercise six days a week. I have gained a lot of muscle all over my body and I am having issues in my stomach region. I'm unsure what is going on.

For all the time I have exercised I still have a pot belly. My belly doesn't really hang over my pants or anything. It really looks as if I were bloated. If I tighten my abs you can clearly see my six pack. During workouts I keep my core tight. I am just unsure why my stomach hasn't gotten flatter.

All you have to do is to look for a trainer wherein he/she can really tells you what your problem is, with that your trainer can help you to loosen up your unwanted belly fats and to have a perfect abs.:)

If you will do the following exercises regularly then you will lose your belly fat and also get six pack.

Foot to Foot Crunch
Alternative Curls
Unreaching Crunch,
Leg up Touch Crunch,
Double Crunch,
Passout Crunch..!!

Passout crunch?? I've never heard that one. Sounds fun! Can you explain it?

I think you are not focusing on that part - try to redo your program and focus on that. It looks like you are pretty disciplined as you exercise regularly so it should not be a problem. You can also find a good advice from professionals so that you can prioritize routines that should take your problem flab away.

yeah i have fat that sits just to the side of my stomach and back, i think they are referred to as handles, my girlfriend always pokes lol but it would be good to get rid of them

More cardio, ab-targeted exercises and a high-protein low sugar diet is good. Additionally, cutting down on carbonated beverages and salt will often help your stomach achieve more definition.

4 reasons immediately come to mind:-

1) If you have excess fat - more than 9% body fat (get measured) - then you need lose the fat for a visible 6-pack. A 6-pack will magically appear when you get to 9%-7% body fat almost regardless of the actual size and strength of your Abs, although of course increasing said muscle's strength is always advisable!

2i) If you really do have a 6-pack when you suck your abs in (see points 2ii and 2iii), you may have a sway-backed posture. Overworking your Glutes/Hamstrings in the gym can cause a sway-backed posture, but you could also have had this since childhood.

2ii) (usually, but not always, a result of something like point 2i)) It's likely that one of the Fascias your Abs, Int/ext Oblique muscles attach/attached to or that support the abdominal wall are stretched, allowing your belly to "fall-out" when not consciously tensed.

2iii) You could be lacking abdominal Myogenic muscle tone (google it - the relaxed state of the muscle is actually slightly tensed creating "tone"). Heavy weight Ab workouts are your best cure. Endurance/body weight Ab exercises (unless intense biomechanical lever) will have little effect on definition or unconscious muscle tension and is a reason why many try and fail to get good abs.

There are other medical issues that could also create a pot belly that are not related to the musculo-skeletal system.

If in doubt, get analysed.

Flubber lubber

All you really need to do is lay off the alcohol!.Nothing will contribute faster to your bellyfat than drinking. Even one or two beers can be disasterous for your gut fat. Trust me on this, if you wanna bounce the belly fat, then ditch the bubbly!
