Before at 152 pounds

almost30

(I thought about posting this under new moms but decided to post it here...)

I gave birth 11 months ago to a sweet baby boy. Unfortunately, I've only lost 33 of the 55 pounds I gained. And, though I've always been naturally thin, I was pretty unhappy with my body even before I got pregnant. Pregnancy didn't do my body any favors, but it did change my state of mind: having a little person to care for has greatly cut down on the time I used to spend worrying about my appearance and other relatively unimportant stuff.

Though I'm less worried about my appearance now than I used to be, I've decided to focus in a healthy way on getting back in shape. I hadn't worked out for years before getting pregnant, and, besides taking my son on long walks, I haven't worked out at all postpartum. I'll turn 30 in exactly 4 months, and I want to start this new decade as happy and healthy as I can!

Here's my before: I'm 5'10", weigh 152 Lb., waist 30", hips 40".

Um... you look great, already! We all have our own self image and things we want to correct, so I'm sure with dedication you'll get to where you want to be.

I agree with NolaRob you look great already! But being a female I totally understand the want to look better and feel better. Congrats on the 33 pounds, I'm sure you'll hit your goal before you know it.

Thanks for the props, guys. :)

It's not really a cosmetic issue. My mom is vigilant about her weight and fitness (she's 5'6", 117 or so pounds, and does yoga/Pilates all the time, and she's almost 60), and her obsessing about it has kind of turned me off. She always tells her daughters they could stand to lose weight. (I'm not sharing this goal with her, LOL.)

I do want to be able to keep up with my son, who will probably be walking and running before I know it. And I want to build muscle, bone density, and core strength, plus get all the long term benefits of a healthy lifestyle--protection against certain types of cancer, heart disease, etc. I've gotten into some bad habits in my 20's and want to change them sooner than later!

I'll probably post a diary or something in the near future, and maybe pics too...
