Before and Current for boost...

Wow, it's been so long since I posted here....A year and a half I think.
Last time I posted , I showed pics of me from 219 lbs to 163 lbs.
I lost a bit of weight after that but my last year of college got in the way of more progress. Now that I have graduated, I'm struggling with finding the enthusiasm to lose the last 30-40 pounds or so, and thought that posting here would give me a much needed boost (or kick in the butt, whichever lol).
I'm posting my original pics at 219lbs and some other ones of me at around 155-160 (I'm a bit heavier currently, due to finals week stress/craziness).

I have to admit that the reason I hesitate in starting to lose weight again is because:
1) I look at the last few pictures and feel utterly sexy (I hope that doesnt make me sound too narcissistic and conceited).
2) I'm being rebellious. Where I come from (Caribbean), my size is more than A-OK with the men (let's be real, we all want to be attractive to the opposite sex or same sex, depending on your case) and society in general, but I can't deny to feeling the pressure of having to conform to a smaller and more acceptable American size (Currently around size 12 pant size, feeling the pressure to be a size 4).
3) God, losing weight is just paiiinnfffuulll lolol (whining I know)

HOWEVER, I have to be honest with myself. At 5'3", I am a total shrimp, and a healthy weight for me would range from 110 to about 140 lbs. So I figured that if not for societal pressure, I should do it for my health since I do have a family history of diabetes. So here it goes....I have laid all the cards on the table and there is no turning back now.

I apologize for the rather looong rant. You guys are all such a big inspiration to me. :seeya:

Wow you look really great and give me hope! My highest weight is 219 and I am at 212 right now, at 5'3 also. I can relate - being from PR, to your comment about society's standards of weight. When I was about 150-160 I would go to PR on vacation and get hit on by sooo many guys, whereas there would only be a few here in the states.
You have to focus on optimal health, that's what I am looking at these days. You don't have to be a size 4, you may be a size 6 or 8 and be within your (our) healthy weight range. Best of luck to you!!! Thanks for posting!

You look great. I am glad you live in a society that accepts people for being a completely normal, healthy and amazing weight. I think the BMI is getting tossed out the window by most people. BMI isn't really reliable or a good measurement.

North American society blows.

Wow, you look fantastic! Im 5'4" and 160 (well technically around 158) and I don't look nearly as good in a bikini!

thats me in my dreams! I think its more important to be healthy and in shape then it is to be a size 4.. many of whom I know have lots of health issues from being to thin and not eating enough, are cold all the time or obsessed with their bodies oh, and who probably aren't even as in shape as I am!

If you're in shape, and have the energy and flexibility to live life to its fullest, I really wouldn't worry too terribly much about it! Sure, make a few tune ups but dont be distressed!

You look very well indeed. :)

You have every right to feel sexy, you look great!
We started at the same weight and height, i've grown a inch,
my tummy doesn't look as good as yours, and im at 129lbs.
I'm jealous! Keep up the good work.

WOW! You are a head turner. Can I be jealous? I want to get to the point where I feel sexy to the opposite sex.

Thank you guys for all the amazing and flattering comments. They are really helping keep that little voice at bay. You know which one, the one that says, "don't exercise. Eat candy instead" lol. So thank you very much!

I don't think you have much, if any, weight to lose. There is alot of research out there now stating that one can be healthy in the 'overweight' BMI range (which you are JUST in). And just being in the 'healthy' BMI range doesn't mean you are healthy. So, i think you go by other things...like measurements, waist:hip ratio, lab values, your exercise level etc...do you feel as though you are done? Then you might be. If you want to lose a bit more (not much ) then do so. But don't let anyone else tell you what you should or should not do, simply because of the size you wear or your BMI.

BMI is a good basic indicator but not the be all and end all.

Thank you for the great advice Shygemini. I actually took my measurements so I can track my progress through that because the scale and BMI are just gonna drive me bananas.

Wow, you look great, I have to say that even at 219 you didn't look that heavy. Might you share how you lost your weight?

You look great! I wouldn't lose another pound if I were you...lol! And I love the polka dot bikini....super cute!

WOW! You look super! I'm 5' 5" and currently a few pounds above you and I don't look ANYTHING like that in a bikini! You have really great skin... I'm so jealous. I have stretched out from carrying twins skin - so I don't think I can ever hope to wear such a cute bikini again as what you are wearing!

Great job!

Again, thank you so much for the nice comments. Every time I come back its always super encouraging!

njoyabl- I lost the weight by counting calories, cardio (turbo jam, biggest loser dvds, etc) and weight training. I sometimes worked with a personal trainer for a couple of sessions to help me overcome plateaus. But other than that, same old recipe really!

Tigpuppy- Consider your skin to be your badge of honor for your twins. But never give up on the bikini! I used to think I would never wear one, but your body has ways of rewarding you for your hard work.
