The link above is of my "before" album.

I'm brand new to the site and I've been working out and eating right on my own for the last month. So far, I've lost nearly 4 lbs. I'm looking to really get a rhythm going so I can lose more during January. Thank for taking a look!

Any support, feedback, helpful criticism is totally welcome!

Best,
Doyle

Well four pounds is a start. (=
We have a sorta simliar situation.
im 165 im 5'4 and i wanna weigh 134.
Anyways, goodluck on your journey.

Jeff - Thanks! It is a start :) Although... I did have an office holiday party last night and kinda overdid it on the vegan pasta and whiskey gingers. So hard this time of year. Back on the diet today!

Shy219 - I'm happy to hear someone else is on a similar journey, keep me posted on your progress! Sounds like if we're diligent, we'll both make our goals at nearly at the same time!

Sounds like we have similar goals +/- 2 pounds. Since we're both just getting started, hopefully we can keep one another uplifted and consistent. I'm new to the forum anyway and decided to start a weight loss diary, ripped.

Shy219 - Sounds like we could learn something from you, as your ticker shows you've made considerable progress already. How did you stay on track this far?

hey, i started out yesterday! i was working out in the summer and lost about 9 lbs but i gained them back :( i weight 161 now and am aiming for about 130. i started kickboxing yesterday and i absolutely love it! what are you doing to lose the weight??

Congratulations on your journey

Congratulations on your journey
Hi Doyle, I found in my experience it is little bit hard to maintain weight-loss goals on you own, I mean without outlined actions, plan or program but you started and this is a good news, congratulations. It is very important to keep right mind-set as it will help you to achieve your goals easily.
Good luck
Alexandra

I am so happy to see that all of us are basically at the same weight and progress. I'm inspired by all of you and I want to hear more about what you're doing/eating etc. Seriously!

Me? I kicked it into high gear this last week as I had not lost any weight since December (holidays!) I'm still at 168. Over the holidays I am happy to say I didn't gain any weight, I just stayed the same. Which is also a little discouraging as I can't help but seeing four weeks as four or more pounds lost :) I feel like I've failed so many times at weight loss this last Fall. I see now that if I don't change my lifestyle for good, I will continue to gain +1 lb per week which would put me at 180lbs next May. Obviously, not something I want to do. SO, I just got back on track last week and so far I'm:

- Using FitDay.com (free, easy and awesome) to enter in my daily calories and activity.
- Athletic club 3X per week, elliptical for 30 minutes
- WiiFit 2x per week w/ boxing, hula hoop, and aerobic for 40 minutes total.
- Eating at my "would be" weight - as in, a 128 lb person would need at least 1,700 calories. I'm staying between 1,300 and 1,700 calories per day, striving to lose 2 lb per week but it's hard!
- I'm vegan, so no meat or dairy, but don't let that fool you: there is a reason I gained so much weight over the last year (+30lbs) and that I because I was eating a lot of processed vegan "meats", garden burgers, soy cheeses etc. I've since cut out almost all of the processed foods and I'm making my food at home (easier to count the calories that way). I'm doing sushi, sandwiches, soups, stews, Indian food, all kinds of vegetables, fruit etc. When I have a craving for something salty like potato chips, I'm doing baked sweet potato fries. I don't generally have a sweet tooth so that part is easy :)
- I'm also a huge micro brew fan (Portland has the best beers and I do factor in a stout when counting my calories. I can't help it! :)

Alexandra - you're so right about having a plan of action. I've been using FitDay to enter in my calories and it really keeps me on track. If I'm not losing weight I can easily see why. Thanks for the support!

ANYWAY - HOW ARE YOU ALL DOING?

The holidays were horrible for me! I weighed about 155 in the summer and now I'm 159 or 160. The kickboxing has been going good but I get such bad cravings for junk food so I have been trying to eat healthier. I hope to lose at least 15 pounds by March. How do u stay motivated???

I started December 4th. I figured if I couldn't keep with it during the holidays, I wouldn't. Make it forever. It was easy for me. I just didn't put the junk in my mouth.

Hi everyone =]
i started my diet just over a week ago (27th jan) weighed myself for the first time in a few weeks /mnths on sat (jan 30) and found i had lost 7 pounds. i was 161 lbs now im bout 155! im glad to find ppl in similiar situation to me:) .

i have a online diet diary on this so that i can keep track of what im eating and get support. i calorie count everything now and am giving my self a limit based on my BMR minus 500cals per pnd a week i wanna loss!

i think if everyone updates this thread with their weight loss every so often itd be really motivating! :D and in that way we can all see each others progress and why some ppl are losing more than others! =)

Updates

Great idea on updating this thread every now and again! We are all on a VERY similar path so let's encourage each other. I'll start by saying I lost four pounds. Not a lot - but I'm on my way! I should also state that I originally, at my heaviest before the holidays, weighed 174 pounds. That was before I started this message board :)

Height 5'3
Start Weight 174
Current Weight 164
Goal 128

So in total - 10 pounds (four pounds since I started this thread)! Exercise 3x week and packing my own lunches or work! It's working... slowly.... but surely :)

UPDATE - I am now 161 lbs!!! I'm now at your old weight - and I'm planning on catching up to you :) How are you doing?

Even though I've only lost a few pounds (ten plus a few) I'm noticing that my clothes are definitely a little too big :) More importantly, my boyfriend challenged me to a run down the block and I totally beat him to the corner...

thats great that your clothes feel better! this past weekend was a huge slipup for me, i ate SO bad and haven't done kickboxing since weds. i am not going to get discouraged tho. im mad at myself beccause i was deffinately feeling thinner and now i feel big again :( i need to get back on track!! stay strong ladies!

can i join this thread? I'm at about the same height/starting weight/goal as most of you! I started seriously going to the gym at the beginning of this semester (Jan 18) and since then I've lost ~ 5 pounds
Height 5'4
Current weight (as of Jan 30) = 165
Goal Weight ~ 130?

In whatever weight I lost since Christmas break I noticed it a lot in my face/legs when I look back on pictures on facebook .. that's what really motivates me to keep going

Keep on Keeping On!

OneLove1 - Totally feel you on that! I have a job interview tomorrow, so the last week has been spent preparing for that in my spare time and not going to gym. I had been eating way to much for a little over a week, but once I stepped on the scale, I was happy to find that I was at least staying the same, I didn't gain any weight. Phew! I'll be back to focusing on exercise after the interview.... :) Have you stepped on the scale? My guess is it's not as bad as you think :) I feel like weight loss and weight perception is half mental! If we feel fat, it might not be because we gained the weight back... at least that's what I know to be true for myself, after the last to weeks!

R1de - You can totally join this thread! I'm so happy there are so many of us in the same spot, with the same goals. It's really helping me to read the updates on this thread. Please write and update whenever you want! What is your method so far for losing weight so far?

I would like to join this thread as well!! I'm 5'4 and my goal weight is 135. I am at 179 and started at 185.

Good luck to everyone in their weight loss!!

we gotta see some before and during pics here! you are going to knock it out and be so happy with yourself (coming from someone that lost almost 100 lbs)
